BOYS II PLANET EP 3 - DISCUSSION

BOYS II PLANET EP 3 - DISCUSSION

Kim Jun Min is my top pick on this show! Crazy cause I went into this fully rooting for a different contestant and Jun Min stole my attention away lol. <3

Oh and lastly I also just want to mention how much the editing affects our perception. In my opinion the editing this time is so so weird. Like I can't get fully immersed in the story they're trying to convey because I'm too hyper aware of what their intentions could be. It doesn't help that there has been so many controversies, like the situation with Geonwoo and Woojin and Sihwan. Mnet is obviously much more sensitive towards public perception this time around and it's reflected in the choppy editing. I really enjoy rewatching BP1 because the editing in general felt more lighthearted. Maybe the B2P contestants get along just as well as the previous batch's, but the editing is more interested in highlighting the tension and the class hierarchy they've been super obsessed with lol.

I think this season compared to the last has so many more skilled contestants. There are trainees who've trained for years and so many more debuted idols. But I agree that the star power is lacking here. I was rewatching BP1 star level tests and honestly if we're being objective, some of them were rough around the edges. But what they lacked in experience they more than made up with raw star power. I'm a Sangwon 1pick (obviously) but I went into this season not knowing who he was at all. What drew me into him was how much you can tell he's born for this. If he's already performing like this after a 2-year hiatus, imagine how good he'll be at the end of this season.

FR LIKE WHEREEE IS THE STAR POWER!!!!

Actually, Junseo is my only pick in this show, and I don't really care much about anyone else. Him and Kaiwen are the only ones, but it's unlikely Kaiwen would debut, so I need Junseo in the group.

PD, in case you didn't know it but Jun Seo isn't just an actor. He was a contestant on Under Nineteen and made it into 1The9 and currently he's also the lead dancer, singer and maknae of Wei which debuted 2020. He's already an established Idol for 5 years. Recently saw a short on YouTube where some of the planet boys were eating out and got heavily crowded by "fans". They were cramped in the elevator and Sangwon got so uncomfortable that he wanted to step out but couldn't because of the people. Junseo stayed calm and tried to help and comfort him. So yeah, I don't care about "star power", I think he would be a great member to have in a group. Someone experienced with good leadership potential and able to stay calm.

The moment I saw that moment with Minjae I ran to sns to see what people were saying because I just couldn't believe that was happening lol turns out his fans were mostly finding it funny how he didn't care at all to be on the show and wasn't even trying. I did find their first audition to feel very off because I remember seeing them live and I was very captivated (especially by Minjae), so I know they can do a lot better than this, so I guess the fans' theories that they didn't really bother to be there make some sense

Just a heads up, poor Woojin was put in an editing timeout bc WakeOne released a statement (due to the whole geonwoo situation) and randomly dragged Woojin in as well. They said that though Woojin applied as an independent trainee (as he was advised too) he was actually signed under WakeOne. So a lot of knetz were upset that Woojin “lied” and well. WakeOne, added at the end of their announcement that Woojin has officially left WakeOne so is now an independent trainee…
