Haikyu!! S4E7

I love this episode because it's been a long time coming. Like you mentioned, it definitely started with Hinata closing his eyes. However, I also think Hinata was the first one that broke away from Kageyama giving in to bad habits. I'd say the first instance we see was when Hinata wanted to open his eyes when he spikes. Kageyama was so against it because that bad habit was working for them at that time. I love that him being King was never an issue for the team, they knew who he was and that he was trying his best to do better and they were fine with that. Even Tsukishima who was on his ass since s1 never really cared. Kageyama always does his best for his team and I think this was a great ‘flaw’ to address so they could all go further. As talented as Kageyama is, he could've gone to any school but I think he needed Karasuno. I don't think any school (as great as the characters are) would have given us this moment. I love how well the Karasuno team is written. Great reaction, I was def looking forward to your thoughts on this episode because you always offer great commentary. I am so excited for the rest of the season.

Little Giant Ace

It's because in Japanese the word Kageyama said it's a bit harsher, plus the tone, at the moment without explaining it, it sounded as if he said "You're in the way" but as a "You are a problem" type of way and in a bossy entonation. So he could have said it like "You are blocking the way" or something else, without the entonation and the word he chose.

This part in the manga had me EMOTIONAL!! Like it was so tense I remember my heart racing and it was like left on that cliff hanger of interpersonal conflict BUT THEN QUICK RESOLUTION I WAS SO MOVED BC THE TEAM COMMUNICATES!!! Hinata putting the crown back on him after Kageyama had lost his way, burdened by the crown and his trauma from junior high, to have Hinata break through that and now Kageyama can be himself with ease 🤧 heartwarming stuff right there—I felt so bad for Kageyama and could definitely relate to having clear vision of the field, and through experience actually knowing what’s best so trying to be straightforward desperate for victory but KAGEYAMA being fully volleyball brained, hasn’t developed the best social skills which is necessary for a team, sometimes it is all about tone and even when you know someone isn’t coming up to potential you can’t just yell at them to fix it, I definitely had to get used to communicating properly as team player to control the pace and execute an attack but it takes PRACTICE to communicate with a team and learning how they like to be approached! Miya that jerks comment was really getting to Kageyama, kags was traumatized by his infamous king title and tried to do a 180 but as we can see, with the proper communication and proactive teammates, he just needed a 90 degree turn to adjust, ofc kageyama is extreme to extreme so he thought OH BAD BAD BAD I CANT YELL OR EVERYONE WILL ABANDON ME, which made him repress his instincts which only made it bubble up inside him when his instinctual desire couldn’t match with what was actually happening in his dampening of his emotions—this will always cause an outburst, and I felt so bad the look on Kageyamas face after he let it out he’s always the one most shocked and hurt with the MOST REGRET and he’s scared! scared of rejection and his actions, first he’s told he’s a monster, then told a goody two shoes, and he doesn’t know how to cope, in reality the Karasuno team accepts him as human, not afraid to call him out when he messes up but not shunning him or accosting him as a villain—I find it endlessly interesting for his struggle to not be typical train harder to be stronger better, it’s ALL MENTAL for him, he has nice guiding from upperclassmen to be taught EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND COMMUNICATION, he’s like 15-16 here, this ofc is going to be his biggest issue for someone head empty only volleyball, he needed this growing pains moment to grow!
