Dudeeee this was so hard of them to use 1984 concepts in a song, I am loving PD’s interpretation and reading everyone in the youtube/patreon comments too, I am bursting from this wonderful art and it’s so fun to all theorise together. Xdinary heroes have my heart for doing this kind of shit for real

Ok this isn't Xdinary Heroes related, but JYP group related. You should really check out the new MV pre release from NEXZ with their song "Simmer". I think it might set you on to them like you did with NCT WISH no joke.

Funny you mentioned my chemical romance’s “welcome to the black parade”, because they covered it. I don’t remember you reacting to that cover, it would be nice to see. And yeah totally agree, it’s a mix of MCR and Queen, and I LIVE FOR IT. Can’t wait for the album listening party 🥳

"War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength" is a slogan from the book 1984 by George Orwell! In the book, it's used by the ruling Party to control its citizens through doublethink and propaganda. You were spot on with your interpretation despite not knowing this - so cool!! Here's a breakdown:
War is peace = perpetual warfare is necessary for maintaining order and unity
Freedom is slavery = true freedom is a dangerous illusion, the Party's control is actually a form of protection
Ignorance is strength = the Party's strategy of suppressing knowledge and critical thinking, as it makes the population more compliant and easier to control.
They are all contradictory on purpose, to force citizens to accept illogical statements as truth, therefore weakening their ability to think critically and rebel.
It's perfect for the theme of questioning reality and rebellion in the song and the video!
