2025-03-21 21:20:04 +0000 UTCCorrect me if I'm wrong but I believe using a longer lense also helps makes the background appear closer due to compression and helps the background feels flatter and gives it a more cinematic look as well. I believe this is what makes the Sullyoon half body shot and Bae's shot work. I believe a similar effect with the DoF can be achieved with a wider lense as well using a lower focal length but the compression cannot be achieved with wider lenses. I'm mostly a photographer though so I do not know how accurate my information is to filmography.
