Road to Kingdom Ace of Ace EP 8 PART 3
Added 2025-01-25 14:05:01 +0000 UTCComments
Coming into the comments months late to reflect on 8TURN who became a fav of mine over the course of the show (I was rooting for ONEUS at the beginning). I do find Jaeyun's comment about their bleak future concerning, considering they put out a similar tiktok/reel saying in a kinda funny but kinda not way that "this is a really dark time for us" in regard to I probs their tour not selling well in the US. I fear for their contracts bc I agree w PD in that they need time to grow up. They are great performers and entertainers but I think they came into the industry right at the end of the debut of a lot of popular boy group debuts and then we began to see more girl group anticipated debuts and comeback hits. I saw their fan concert in Seoul in December and it was great, I just think their sound isn't what's trendy and popular rn which is unfortunate with their latest comeback. I really like it but not something I'm putting on repeat. EXCEL remains my fav 8TURN title track and I hope that they are able to grow to put on Love Dive quality stages more bc that along with MayFly's Love Poem performance remains my fav kpop stages from shows like this!

2025-03-20 00:33:21 +0000 UTCI already said it in a comment below, but to reiterate: Depending of whether you check out Universe League next or I-land 2 (I like both shows but I'm really hoping for a girl group one next, to keep it balanced) - avoid any news about AHOF! That's the Universe League group.

2025-01-28 17:34:36 +0000 UTCLike I totally GET that it means Nine in Korean but it looks AWFUL written in English. (btw PD, avoid anything about the group AHOF - that's the Universe League group!)

2025-01-28 17:31:47 +0000 UTCAgreee about that group name lol. I'm usually okay with some weirder names but this time it's not it😏 but still I'm so excited to see how their debut is gonna look like 🙏🏻

2025-01-28 15:24:27 +0000 UTCI'm very happy that two certain people in blue and green made it. They really deserved it. Half of my faves won overall, but I'm actually pretty happy with the final line-up. They seem to have a good team chemistry, so I'm really looking forward to their debut. Now they just have to change that abhorrent group name. When I thought it couldn't get worse than Close Your Eyes, of course kpop had to prove me wrong

2025-01-28 14:24:49 +0000 UTCI do remember him, but I remember him not leaving much of an impression in ILAND. He is a lot better and really good now!

2025-01-28 06:13:47 +0000 UTCI really want to just say it here AAHHH. When I was writing that comment I was about to write his name but then I realised that it would be a very big spoiler, so I'm just waiting for PD to decide for the next show. For now I'm trying to keep it a secret. All I know is that PD is going to be very happy about this:)))

2025-01-27 22:41:05 +0000 UTCCurious to know who your fave is. I have two but don't wanna spoil it for the commenters / PD

2025-01-27 22:22:46 +0000 UTCI honestly began watching the show to support TNX and as much as I was devastated seeing them be eliminated, this show did such a good job at keeping me interested about the other. Not to mention, I remembered JUSTB from their debut and seeing them be here with ATBO, I didn’t recognise half of the members which then made me go back and check all their stuff out and now I’m a fan of them. I really wanted The CrewOne to last after this show was over (not only bcus i became a Just B fan but also i thought i saw the growing chemistry between the two groups’ members) but unfortunately they are no longer together and i am heartbroken. I am still following JustB and hoping they can still move forward with there music, especially cause i felt that they were really honing in on their sound since they released the latest album (title track was medusa and i think you reacted to the MAMA performance and liked it). Their newest single “Still I Luv You” is also a gem if you ever want to listen in your own time! I loved re-watching rtk and getting to hearing your perspective on the stages!!!

2025-01-27 09:49:08 +0000 UTCAlso 8turn has a short series of predebut dance performances like the kq fellaz ones under the name boys of mnh and they’ve also done a few after debuting and I’d love if you checked those out!! They’re such talented dancers it’s insane
Matea🩵
2025-01-26 18:35:52 +0000 UTCI really hope you react to 8turns mvs, they’re so good I just know you’re gonna love them!! (And we have very similar music taste so hopefully I’m right lol)
Matea🩵
2025-01-26 16:52:37 +0000 UTCJust random facts lol but Allen was actually a jyp trainee and was almost in skz so he’s pretty close with the members, especially Chan. Serim is also friends with Chan so I think it’s funny how you said he reminds you of Chan in the last episode cause I thought the same thing lol

2025-01-26 16:20:51 +0000 UTCAlso, do you not remember Kyungmin from I-LAND? He auditioned with Geonu: https://youtu.be/tlKjGhFIzE4?si=xW-Sy6aT0rVzkyjn
Sven Lenders
2025-01-26 15:27:41 +0000 UTCDon’t worry about Seongmin lolll he’s fantastic but he himself has said he doesn’t make friends easily outside of the group and is mega home body likes his time alone don’t call him on the phone and he likes it that way which mad respect to have work life balance and maintain his boundaries, he is a great speaker and entertainer, I think he is quite witty and sure of himself which is nice to see, on top of having his unique presence as a performer, really glad to see an idol like him
Liv
2025-01-26 05:21:05 +0000 UTCI think every year Cravity has put into their career has shown here, I hadn’t followed from the beginning but I think they consistently have been performing and showing up for the hard work of being an idol, whether on stage or variety I think they have come to a level of professionalism and feel like they’re hitting that stride now in their career, I’m glad they got this opportunity, looking forward to their next moves!
Liv
2025-01-26 05:06:58 +0000 UTCinteresting take on the ravn vs. oneus identity. as someone who followed oneus before that happened, i agree that he played an important role on their overall sound, especially on their more "crazy" sounding songs. as for who i thought was gonna win when i started watching? cravity. and i'm not even a fan. but i walked out of the show really looking out for 8turn stuffs! they're a solid group and i hope more people will also recognize their potential
owo
2025-01-26 04:46:24 +0000 UTCI came in expecting oneus to win, rooting for cravity (I was a new fan of theirs, came into the fandom a month before rtk started), and I came out of the show also really supporting younite/eunsang. i was shocked at how much he had grown since produce x, he's become a whole artist. i love that you noticed seongmin just standing there and clapping hahahahaa. it ended up being a meme in the fandom to represent us introverts. he also talked about how during the rtk afterparty that happened afterwards, he ate as fast as he could so he could escape into the car and sat there rest of the party to avoid interacting with everyone. that guy hates social interactions. u wouldn't expect it out of how well he talks and how big his personality is but he only stays with his members (but that boy rejects his members constantly so the members fight for his attention) and refuses to create friends.) ah cravity park would be so fun for u to react to but that would be too much
hai_rene
2025-01-26 03:48:32 +0000 UTCWell, I'm still hoping for I-land 2 for the next one (after you take your time and have a break from long shows!) You're already super interested in the final group, the group is permanent, and there's only 24 trainees so you can actually somewhat get to know all the girls! Unlike the typical shows with 80+ contestants where a good portion never get screentime.
Aine
2025-01-26 03:24:55 +0000 UTCI thought ONEUS would win upon my initial watch but I can honestly see how Cravity could win. I am one who thinks ONEUS' discography is one of the best in kpop 4th gen because they're one of those groups where when I have my Spotify on shuffle and one of their songs comes up, I remove the shuffle and listen to their discography in its entirety. Their MVs and special stages always are so amazing and Leedo is one of my 2 ults. 8Turn I've been listening to since their debut and their discography so far is just fun to listen to. The New Six are also part of that select few where I listen to their albums in their entirety so they hold a special place for me. The other groups I just listen to select songs that I enjoy and that's about it. Sidenote: Also on the Universe League bandwagon mostly because of the coaches as well as the return of my #1 Boys Planet son, Woongki back on my screen

2025-01-26 03:21:04 +0000 UTCI actually haven’t been a tomoon for long. I knew about them and liked songs from them here and there, but my love and obsession with ONEUS has definitely grown and shown starting from 2024 and obviously going into this new year. Over this short period, I knew about Ravn and his controversy but I didn’t know him enough to think deeply about the role he had in the group aside from being one of the rappers. I also did not know the chemistry he had with the other members. I cannot say whether or not I agree with you PD about your comment on the hole he left, but at least in all the live performances I’ve seen of the current ONEUS, I believe they are doing well. It’s either Seoho or Hwanwoong that do his parts and honestly I think they pull it off. I also didn’t know until recently that Seoho can kinda rap and I wonder if that has anything to do with him doing his parts sometimes instead of Hwanwoong doing them all. I think so far, they’ve become more stable than when Ravn first left, and I’m so glad. They still deliver and they still do wonderful. It’s just for whatever reason they’re still under appreciated for a senior and experienced and skilled team like them.

2025-01-26 02:10:29 +0000 UTCyesssss these two shows are my favs
Ugne Jablonskyte
2025-01-26 01:56:28 +0000 UTCI also suggest to watch universe league next plsss, the show just ended and we finally got to see the final debut lineup! Don't want to spoil things if you might decide to do reactions to this but the one I was really rooting for MADE IT. MY BOY DID IT
Ugne Jablonskyte
2025-01-26 01:54:21 +0000 UTCWow, between today’s uploads of WEi, Cravity, and RTK it’s like a X1 reunion🥹! Maybe it’s a sign for PD to watch Produce X 101 👀

2025-01-26 00:46:28 +0000 UTCShows that I would recommend is Peak Time and Universe League: Peak Time was a survival show by JTBC, which aired from February to April 2023. The show aims to provide opportunities to boy groups that have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, been on long hiatuses, faced multiple line-up changes, disbanded, recently debuted and need a popularity boost or simply want to showcase their talents to the rest of the world. Universe League was a survival show by SBS, which aired from November 2024, to January 2025. The show consisted of 42 trainees of various nationalities divided into three teams competing to debut. Teams and Managers: Team Groove – Lee Changsub (BTOB) Team Beat – Yugyeom (GOT7) & EL CAPITXN (former HISTORY) Team Rhythm – Ten, Yangyang (WayV)

2025-01-25 22:35:21 +0000 UTCIt was more or less the female Build Up, the final group was really well balanced (imo), I just hate what happened afterwards.

2025-01-25 22:22:47 +0000 UTCR U NEXT and NIZI project are indeed ones I forgot. I’ve never seen Girls On Fire so I didn’t note that one down. A2K is kind of irrelevant seeing what is happening with VCHA. The others are very niche, i also could have included Asia Super Young which I consider a good show, but it is very niche as Well.
Sven Lenders
2025-01-25 22:21:10 +0000 UTCGirls on Fire (great performances, even if the post show result blows), Girls Re:Verse, Chuang Asia Thailand, Nizi Project (the Niziu season), I would have still recommended A2K but not now 💔, The Second World, older shows like Mama The Idol, or even RU Next - as unpopular of a choice it is. But realistically, PD is not gonna check out any survival show more than a year or two old, or any that's too off the mainstream kpop path or a foreign based show so it's whatever 🤷🏻♀️ Sometimes it just feels like a flood of BG shows, considering the last two were Boys Planet and then RtK2 (albeit with a long break inbetween). Also, didn't they watch the &TEAM show as well?

2025-01-25 22:17:36 +0000 UTCWhich do you feel like I’m missing?

2025-01-25 22:09:19 +0000 UTCMan, only 4 out of 17 suggestions are girl group survival shows 😅😅 (I'm not really counting Mixnine and The Unit)

2025-01-25 22:07:05 +0000 UTCHi PD, as promised a list of all the shows that you could watch after this one. Don’t feel obligated to follow my advice, but this is just my perception of them: I-LAND 2 is a pretty decent show with very talented trainees. The problem for me lies with the judges. It honestly feels to me like they had a group and a concept in mind before even starting the show. The signal song to me already revealed that it would be a girl crush type of group (I've got to say, the fact that they straight up copied "Final Countdown" as the signal song wasn't very creative). (IZNA) Peaktime is a show where different groups (either already debuted or in the debut process) are competing to get a comeback with a bigger budget then they could get by just promoting themselves (they are all basically under smaller labels and pretty unknown). The catch behind this show is that the group name stays hidden until later in the show. I would recommend this show. Make Mate 1 is a show where trainees compete to make their debut in a new boy group. The show works by forming "Mate" groups. The show has several special judges that give their opinions on the trainees. The catch is that none of the trainees are under a label (exept for some trainees under Chromosome by mister Lay Zhang himself). I would recommend this show. (NouerA) The Unit was kind of the same as Peak Time and RTK were, but the difference was that people could just join on their own (like Hwanhee and Dongyeol did on Boys Planet). The show actually consisted of boys and girls. One of the things I liked about this show is the amount of "talent" was in that show (what i mean by that is like TALENT, just things you wouldn't see right now in shows). besides that, you will see some familliar faces and how they started. I liked this show. (UNB, UNI-T) Mixnine would be the same as The Unit, the only big difference is that Mixnine focused more on trainees than on debuted idols. The only annoying thing about these last 2 is that they are pretty bad quality. I liked this show. Project 7 is a show with 200 contestants that is similar to Boys Planet, but they get to form their own teams sometimes. The show takes place in the old Produce village. I liked this show. (CYE) Starlight Boys is a show that is controversial because of racism and abuse of the trainees. It takes place in the Boys Planet building. I would not recommend this show. (POLARIX) Universe League is a show with a interesting concept, it is like a football draft system with 3 teams of which the best team debuts. I would recommend this show. (Also, you’ll get to see Cha Woongki dancing to “Girls Never Die”) (AHOF) My Teenage Girl is a show where girls are seperated by age and perform in their own class against other age classes. I would kind of recommend this show. (Class:y) Wild Idol is a show where contestants need to prove themselves in the outdoor world to make their debut. It is very interesting to see them train in the outdoor world. I would recommend this show. (TAN) Under 19 is a show where young trainees are seperated by dance, rap and vocal specialty. They get a rank on their specific position and in total to make their debut. I liked this show. (1THE9) Universe Ticket is a show where girls got the chance at debuting trough a ranking system where it was possible to debut at an earlier stage. I liked this show. (UNIS) NIZI Project season 2 is a show by JYP where he was looking for a Japanese group. They were evaluated on dance, vocal, passion and special talent. I would recommend this show. (NEXZ) Produce X 101 is a show from the produce series, some of the RTK participants were on the show. I would recommend this show. (X1) Queendom Puzzle is a show were idols from groups got the chance of debuting in a super group. I liked this show. (ELL7 UP) Fantasy Boys is a show like the others, i don’t really know how to describe it but they got evaluated in 3 ranks. (I didn’t get far into this show).I would not recommend this show. (FANTASY BOYS) Build Up is a show were the best vocalist got a shot at debuting in a vocal only boy group. They show off just their vocals each performance. I liked this show. (B.D.U) R U NEXT is a show were girls got the chance to debut in HYBE’s newest girl group. Iiked the show (ILLIT) NIZI Project is the female verison of the second season. I haven’t watched the show (NIZIU) Some names that you would see on those shows would be: I-Land (Koko, Mai) Peak Time (DKB) MA1 (Yuseop from Boys Planet) The Unit (A.C.E. members) Mixnine (ATEEZ) Project 7 (BAE173, Kang Hyunwoo) Starlight Boys (BAE173, Lee Daeul, CongB) Universe League (Cha WoongkI) My Teenage Girl (Jiwoo, Yooyeon) Wild Idol (Gunwook, Kamden) Under 19 (Jay, Wumuti) Universe Ticket (Hyeonju) NIZI Project season 2 (Miraku, Tomoya) Produce X 101 (Eunsang, Hyeongjun) Queendom Puzzle (Seoyeon, Jiwoo) Fantasy Boys (Kang Hyunwoo, Moon Hyunbin) Build Up (Seunghun, Jay) R U NEXT (Jeemin, Iroha) NIZI Project (Miihi, Ririka) I won't spoil more names because that takes away all the fun. You could also decide to check out Street Woman/Men Fighter if you wan’t something new. They make the choreos of all your favourite groups and have some amazing performances in those shows. You already know LipJ, Kooyoung and Youngjun. I can also tell you that Stray Kids Lee Know was in a dance crew with Bada Lee (BEBE) and Vata (WEDEMBOYZ). So if this sparks your interest, maybe you want to check this out rather than the other shows. If you need any more information just ask me, i’ll let you know everything about the shows. Also, if you feel like taking a break from survival shows, that is also an option because Boys II Planet is happening later this year and maybe Kingdom will also start again but that wasn’t announced yet.

2025-01-25 20:54:15 +0000 UTChi PD, i am once again presenting Universe League to you as a potential replacement 🙏 it's loosely based on a football concept, where players get drafted into teams who then compete against each other for the PRISM cup. the teams are: rhythm (directors: ten and yang yang), groove (director: changsub), and beat (directors: yugyeom and el capitxn). the finale just aired yesterday, and though the show is not without its flaws, the show was engaging and fun, plus the contestants are SOOO talented (you might see familiar faces 😉). overall, it boasts a total of 12 cover songs and 15 original songs (not including the signal song). i hope you consider checking it out 🙏 the signal song is titled 'We Ready,' if you'd like to get a feel of the overall vibe of the show first: https://youtu.be/m0mXRx3pc1g?si=iYwG-oBPI8-YCLOJ (contains spoilers about which contestants go to which team)
