Tonight the largest test and release in the history of my work will be conducted to the public!
Added 2018-11-04 22:31:29 +0000 UTCI am throwing the doors open to you all tonight. Utilizing Discord, I am going to post the World Difficulty by Lefein 2.0 framework to Discord to the public. After posting it, I am will be unlocking the mod test area to everyone for the purpose of providing them content patches in real time while I am working on them. I am posting the alert from the server below:
#mod-test-area will be opened to all members of this server while the Alpha Framework is posted. I will be actively working on the mod and uploading patches in real time. Everyone is invited to participate. This will be a limited time release. If you were to go to google, and type in "Dragon's Dogma" for some people it will attempt to autocomplete "World Difficulty by Lefein 2.0" 2.0 is a widely searched term due to many people attempting to find the unreleased 2.0 version. I keep copies of nothing I create, because I prefer my work to remain rare so I provide some limited value to people who use my what I create. This will be everyone's chance to have a copy, participate in it's creation and to keep a copy that will otherwise be completely unavailable. If no one shows up with interest in participating or using it or obtaining a copy, I will still be working on it and once I am finished all links will be removed.
The reason for this is a push to raise awareness about my work, our situation, who I am and the fact DDDA does have and support a high profile modding community. Our community server boasts over 700 members. However everyday, I see messages that say "I never knew this existed and I bought DDDA when it came out." It's time we changed that. I have also gotten around a thousand messages, that said "I only bought this game for your mod because I played it on console." The varying receptions my work has gotten, "I've never heard of it until now" to "I bought the game to try this" shows I haven't done enough to raise awareness about it.
My goal isn't as simple as attracting more support, or even attracting more people to use it. That, I want to be an aftereffect of this effort. My goal is to raise the awareness that it exists so people can choose to use it or not. At the current time, the majority of the community doesn't know it exists to choose to use it or leave it. I'm reaching out to give people more playstyle options. My hope is of course, this will eventually lead to more users and more support. Right now however, it's more important than ever to make sure it's known.
One reason for this is, on most communities for the game modding is shoved into sidebars when it's brought up. I don't know why this is, modding is a backbone of PC gaming and has been for quite some time. Ushered in of course, by the Elder Scrolls series. Of course there was modding long before, but nothing kicked the door open like Bethesda has. However outside the aforementioned, modding topics brought up are shoved aside or treated with scorn. I can't change that alone, however I can push back against it with events like these.
Now that my rambling is complete, the event is simple. The 2.0 Framework will be uploaded for public download. The content will be uploaded separately. While people use the content and provided framework I will be working on the individual files changing, repairing, patching, updating and reuploading them in real time. Some based on feedback, some for expansion to increase the amount of content provided and some to repair bugs encountered.
My hope is everyone downloading the framework will be livestreaming it during their use and testing. Alerting their viewers, "Hey, there is Dragon's Dogma event going on, here is where you can get World Difficulty by Lefein 2.0 it's available for a limited time." Things like this are going to attract a lot of new people not only to my work, but to DDDA. Imagine people looking for some content and seeing this flood of DDDA content that says "Streaming limited time content from World Difficulty be 2.0 get your copy here!" The streamers posting the download links in their livestream descriptions.
There are over 700 people in the Discord community alone. If we all get together, we can take Twitch, YouTube, Steam and just the gaming community in a storm of activity to finally plant our stake into the ground and claiming our place. I'm going to encourage as many people as possible to tweet Capcom to let them know, "This is selling more copies of your game 2 years later than you are! Where is DDDA2?"
I just want this event, to be a real event. I will be doing this a few times over the next week. I'm sure the first day will be small, or I may be alone. However with time, and if I can just get everyone to help, we can do this. We all love the game, and anyone reading this loves the work I have put into it. This is an open invitation to the entire community. Come watch, come enjoy, and come die repeatedly.
Let's finally get some attention for all of us! We've earned it!
