Hey guys, this month I made an EPIC modular gothic terrain set. It was a fun challenge to design and very different from the character stuff I usually do. Below I outline what the set is designed to do and how it works. Any way I hope you find it useful.
Image 1 and 2 - The set is designed so that it can be used either as single small bits of ruined walls or put together to form larger ruined structures, all while still looking natural and not having unnatural flat termination points.
Image 3 - Each pillar has a small hole at the top and bottom (6mm circumference x 6mm depth) where you can fit a small cylindrical peg or magnet so walls and pillars can be stacked on top of one another without glue. Wall pieces are modular to a degree so you can print multiple pieces and combine them to make a variety of structures.
Image 4 and 5 – The pillars and flooring are also modular so you can stack pillars to create another floor above to place minis. Modular flooring pieces can be used to extend platforms and create walkways (This flooring extension would require glue and possibly a bit of sanding due to printing tolerances).
Image 6 – To easily make an extended bit of wall you can print just these two sections as they can connect to one another, themselves as well as some of the other wall pieces.
Image 7 – To make a whole enclosed structure as seen in this image print the whole set twice including the red and blue sections, and then print the mirrored grey section twice. I will include the mirrored parts in a folder with these instructions.
Image 8 - There are alot of ways you can use this set, I would recommend taking the parts in to your 3d Software of choice like Blender (which is free) or Maya and building some structures. This will help you decide which parts you need multiple or mirrored versions of.
