Sketch for Summer by The Durutti Column

Hello everyone. This week I'm looking at Sketch for Summer by The Durutti Column. This track came out in 1980 on Factory records, features production by the legendary Martin Hannett, and the sublime playing of unsung British guitar genius Vini Reilly.

This was a fun and challenging video to put together, since Vini’s style is so unique. But I’ve done my best to get to the bottom of what’s happening in this classic track. Here's the link -

And I've tabbed out (roughly) what I play in the video below. I think it's best to just use the tab as a guide and experiment with whatever picking approach works best for you. The most important thing is to bring out the melody. Hope you have fun with this one.
