New studio tour! (looking for input)
Added 2022-04-11 21:57:11 +0000 UTC
Hey, so the buildout of the new studio and the majority of the move is done - now it's on to making the most of the new space. I filmed a tour of what's there already and would love to hear your input on how I should make use of the space I've got available now! Full-sheet CNC More video sets? Open space for projects? Let me know in the comments!
Hey, Tom: Any chance making a video about stepper motors wiring guide?

hi thomas i as wondering why so few video's came online but now i understand , that is an awfull situation to be in having your hopes up in the new location and being forced to leave it because of respitorial problems sucks i know because of my astma i dont know if its called the same in english or even deutsch but best of luck in the new location it lookes awesome

Thanks, that sounds really awesome and promising. I wish you all the best with your new studio. Would you maybe have the time in the next couple of months to do an interview about your YouTube channel and the challenges of being a creator? I am making a series about different creators in the 3D printing/design space. My first one was with Andy "MediaMan3D", who created the Hero Me Suite.

Oh yeah, so much storage space!

Great ideas Sebastian, thanks!

Thanks! I was thinking that a large CNC would be useful as work table when not in use - but reasonably, I should probably stick to a smaller one first.

Hey Yasmeen, thanks for the tips! My standard storage system has become Ikea Samla boxes in all the different sizes, plus the "Kleinteilmagazine" you can get here that give you those exact little drawers. Works really well!

Hey Daniel, my experience with the Quad HDMI Recorder card has been absolutely flawless. It works and shows up like four completely independent capture cards. You can do all different formats or up to 4k60 (even at 10bit 4:2:2) on every channel simultaneously. Just keep in mind that you probably want to plug it into a x16 slot that is directly going to your CPU, and not one that is shared with other stuff through the chipset.

Hi Tom, I also have built a new studio for my channel. I am wondering what your experiences with the BlackMagic Dedign quad 4k capture cards are? I am specifically interested if they record 4k60 on 4 channels in parallel or only 4k30.

The stackable drawers you can also 3D print - I know people hate on Thingiverse, but I've seen designs on there for those that would be perfect to actually put his printers to use. And use up leftover filaween spools ;)

Also I could drive up and do the occasional collaboration, but I don't plan on moving to Germany just yet. But Switzerland is near enough I'll be happy to help if you'll have me.

Very interesting and cool new space! For your workshop area I'm hoping you and your helper will actually look at building community designed printers and review them and provide feedback to make them a whole lot better. I'm making significant progress with my design and I've got people willing to put $$ down for it. I'd just feel better having had someone else who knows more about printers review the design.

I'd love to work for you, unfortunately I live in Canada. That being said, here's some stuff that I use to organize my own workshop at home. You can get knockoff versions that also work fine. The ones I use the most are the stacking drawers. https://www.sterilite.com/category-page.html?C=9&US=SS;0,1|SC;0|SF;0#TOP On some models you can rip off the top and stack them together. It makes it a lot easier to organize my tools and parts. For the smaller parts I use a bunch of these https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001EL9AJQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 since they stack up great on top of each other.

What a great space :) Nice work on building the office too - that looks very smart. Would you make enough use of a large CNC to justify the amount of space it would consume? A small lathe and mill are game-changers in terms of designing and making stuff, especially if you want to get in to robotics. For me as an engineer, 3D printing is great for prototyping and rapid iteration but being able to then make the things from metal for production use is essential.
I'm looking forward to see what new stuff you come up with :)

I was thinking the same about drawers and storage there

Nice video, and nice Workshop. For the space under the gate upstairs: My Idea would be put some Ikea Malm commodes under the Gate constrution. Cheap and many drawers. Or a low shelf and store your Alu extrusions or other long things under the Gate Construction.

Nice space. First thing I thought of when see top floor was that would be great for storage. Things you don’t need everyday but will need.
