Friends-Only Post No. 25: Life During Wartime

THE SHORT FUNNY BIT

Oh, friends.  Going backwards, I think it's safe to say that early Futurama was about as good a four seasons of television as I ever saw.  Some of this is likely because, as a deeply doofy redhead, I don't see myself in the media that often, but in series protagonist Fry, I was able to find some extremely accurate representation of myself.  For example: when he yelled "I have no date, a two-liter of Shasta, and my all-Rush mix tape.  Let's rock!"

I can hardly tell you what it meant to me to see this kind of depiction.  But that's not important right now.  What's important right now is the idea of an all-Rush mix tape.

So.  For your enjoyment, your friends at IDEOTVPOD have crafted for you two such tapes.  J., naturally, finished his first.  Both are more or less 60-minute tapes, not the more expansive 90-minute jobs.

THE LONG SAD AND SCARED BIT

This part turned into a bummer, and I know that that's not necessarily what you're here for.  But I did write a thing, a thing about a comedy record for the 70s, a record I find immensely illuminating at this point.  The record is enormously good, and can be listened to here.

The thing I wrote turned into a bummer, and can be read here.

THANKS

Right now is a frightening and unhappy time.  It means a lot to us that you like what we do, and it means a lot to us that we can bring some laughs and smiles into a situation that calls for (among other things) exactly that.  Keep your chins up, keep your eyes open.  Make sure to keep laughing; once that's taken away, we're sunk for sure.

Should work now. As always, because Patreon's text editing interface is baffling and hostile, the email version should be considered canonical.

The link for the bummer is giving me a 404.
