Hey there folks! As you may have heard on the main feed, we're finally calling it quits after a couple years of adhering to an increasingly erratic schedule without ever making an official decision. Obviously that means that having a Patreon up would be weird as hell, so it's going away as of next month. We'll be pulling the plug on April 31st, right before the next billing cycle begins.
If there’s any bonus content here you want to save for posterity, make sure to download it before ...

"Atari Force?" you say. "Is that the ineluctable manifestation that ended the viability of commercial arcades, by and large?" No, and why are you talking like that? Atari Force was a mild comic of my childhood, but, as Jay reveals here, before that, it was different comic, given away free with the purchase of that most innocuous of products, video games.
Is it Atari Force's problem that so many of us are the way so many of us are? How man...

You know we had to do it to 'em: we had to go back to Raccoon City, where we disagree more than usual about the quality of the exciting film under discussion, last year's Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, the movie that dares to answer "What if we brought Riverdale-grade faces to a take on a video game movie that takes its source material very seriously?"
Clsn's got questions, Jay's got love for the streets (when they match the game) and one of the guys fr...

It took a little longer than we were planning on, but we come back to The Only Franchise Which Matters with a super fun one on what I think could be described as not exactly first-tier Resident Evil. Come for the reminders to try to shoot for the head, but stay for the what-the-even-hell dialogue and fever-dream plotting!
Are we gonna stick with it? He'll yes! You say "I don't like PWSA" and we say "STFU"! So grab your camcorder and give yourself a pr...

We ease back into the podcasting game with the early-aughtsiest slice of cinema we could find, the unexpectedly successful film Resident Evil! But is it merely a box-office success, or is there artistic success there as well? MASH THAT PLAY BUTTON AND FIND OUT, WHY DO YOU NOT?
A movie so early-2000s you expect it to have stories about Woodstock '99, Resident Evil is a serious-faced attempt to honor the, ah, let's call it a "mythos" of the games, with plenty...

We're well past the threshold now, so why don't you step inside and join us in one of cinema's least explicable experiences, where formal audacity and innovation accompany (and sometimes abandon) the dream of an upset child and a catalog of woe that would leave Lemony Snicket themselves checking their watch and moving toward the exit: HOUSE.

Friends! It's been a while. And then a while. We are very sorry, but we are also: back! With us we bring one of our favorite shared artifacts, Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films.
It's a big-mouthed, clear-eyed take on a story that probably only could have happened in Los Angeles in the 1980s, and it's a hell of a lot of fun. &nb...

We said we'd do it, and so we did it and here we are, shipping up to ... *checks notes* ... Albany. But it's not always about the destination (in this case, and we can't stress this enough ... the destination is ... Albany), no, sometimes it's about the journey. And this time, we're making the journey in some ass-kicking reticulated RVs called LandMaster 1 and (briefly) LandMaster 2! It's gonna be so boss...

Hey folks. I know we haven't been incredibly reliable with our bonus episode release cadence over the past couple months, and this is mostly due to my personal inability to function properly in complete isolation while constantly experiencing bipolar depression or severe anxiety, or both. Sorry to be a downer, but it's the truth.
HOWEVER, we do have an obligation to you, the lo...

This is a lil freestyle which J. recorded over an Animal Crossing song ("KK Cruisin", with some added sub bass) that is sort of about Animal Crossing but also about going stir-crazy under a shelter in place order but recognizing that it's important to not be a selfish dipshit and put other people in danger for your own entertainment value. So. It's a thing? Anyway, enjoy rap music.
Here ya go. The free bonus content you crave.

Since things are particularly weird and bad and hard for everybody right now, I (Clsn) thought I'd try to cash a check I wrote ages ago, and test out some new equipment at the same time. And so, what you get is this: the long-promised scene of Agatha Raisin getting all excited about her Sexy New Neighbor, alongside all the exciting Clsn specialties you probably know and might love, including wobbly accents, shaky character voice decisions, false starts and stumbles, long pauses, and occ...

As Mystery Science Theater 3000 once said, "Everybody doesn't like something, but nobody doesn't like Bruce Lee!" and, as such, the inevitable slide back into our suburban childhoods has accelerated and we now spend more than an hour talking about the floppiest weapon: the humble, yet useful, (extremely authentic pronunciation voice) nunchacku.

We go super-long on a rarther strange read this time around. No spoilers, but let's just say that this book didn't need Peter Pan's magic to keep its youthful qualities! We're getting Extremely Victorian, and we very much thank Rock Paper Shotgun's own Alice Bell for bringing this flat-out fun read to our attention.

For reasons lost to the mists of time, we settled on DOUBLE TEAM, an extremely late-90s actioner featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme and, oddly, Dennis Rodman, which seems uncommonly focused on establishing the two marble-mouthed stars as witty banterers, rather than brawny batterers, and which has probably as many explosions as lines of dialogue. Good theme song, very unsubtle music cues, and some exceedingly baggy trousers make this one a fairly fun ride, though one of us had to ...

Specifically, it's all about 1997's (?) most (?) popular (?) label compilation album from a label whose political bent was ... a surprise to Clsn, anyways, because he is a literal child whomst lives, evidently, in a tent, secludedly (in a place where getting well-informed is not possible).

So, some of yall may remember a couple episodes ago, when a listener wrote in to point out the fact that it is possible to sing "IDEOTV... Of course, me being me, I took this way too much to heart and decided to record a short little parody of "Method Man",...

Before The Matrix, but after John Matrix came the questionably memorable William Gibson adaptation Johnny Mnemonic. A chunky stew, this one, a melange of downtown art types, young Ice-T, younger Keanu Reeves, peak Dolph Lundgren, and possibly as many as three different women with speaking parts (only one of whom gets to go absolutely ham with a rocket launcher). So...maybe it's not what we would call an "entirely successful project", but it's a pretty interesting prefigur...
