Friends-Only Post No. 5: Futurity, Futility, and Fun

WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK ETC.

Well, it finally happened. We released an episode about BIG APPLE TAKEDOWN and, truly, the world is different than it was before, on account of our efforts to get deep into a non-book of desperate shallowness. A terrible book plus a great guest (thanks, Kefin!) made for a good dang time recording, and it seems like y'all liked it, so that's cool.

One thing that we wanted to get into the episode but somehow couldn't find room for was a very short moment that encapsulated the rich, yeasty incompetence of this entire affair. Please feast upon this short quote:

OH IS THAT WHAT IT MEANS WHEN SOMEBODY GIVES SOMEBODY A NOD THANKS SO MUCH RUDY JOSEPHS I WOULD HAVE HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE FINGERING OUT WHAT THE HELL COULD HAVE BEEN MEANT BY A GUY GIVING ANOTHER GUY A NOD AFTER SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISHING A THING OH HELL I HATED READING THIS SO, SO MUCH.

When we weren't recording and releasing rad episodes, we were up to our usual shenanigans. J. made Shimmering Warlock for you! Collision went to see Blue Őyster Cult in Santa Cruz (on the boardwalk) and saw things like

• A monstrously large security guard visibly thinking "...I'm Batman" while flexing his big biceps
• The ASL interpreter for BŐC stepping back and just getting the hell down during various guitar solos
• Relatively young dudes in black metal shirts
• Relatively old dudes in BŐC shirts
• Exactly one non-dude in a BŐC shirt
• A group of women dancing their faces off during the last song while frustrated and impotent security guards tried to get them to sit down (and failed) (srsly, you don't try to get people on the Santa Cruz boardwalk to not dance to (Don't Fear) The Reaper, for heck's sake what are you THINKING?)

Finally, we got to the bottom of an important-ass question: DOES COLLISION TALK TOO MUCH ABOUT BURN NOTICE?

We have things to talk about, friends. Things ... of and in the future -- which is where we're all going! Let's rap.

Firstly and No. 1, we are cogitating upon the prospect of: stickers. Would you like stickers? (OH GOD PLEASE SAY YES.) If yes, what's your pleasure?

• Logo / name of show
• Obscure in-joke that makes no sense unless you heard one specific episode slash are familiar with Spinal Tap
• On-brand reference that makes no sense unless you've listened to a ton of episodes

Think about it. We'll come back to this in time.

Secondly and also No. 1, we're getting pretty close to the time where you, the friends of the show, get to help us pick a book to do. So! What would you prefer, choice-wise:

• Pick the genre of book we do, and trust we'll pick an insane book (like, say ... HANNIBAL)
• Pick a specific book we do from an insane genre (like, say, ... HOCKEY ROMANCE)
