The edited version of the book will included some of Melody's chatlogs, fleshing out their relationship with Beatrix, and later with Rosa.
The log in the PDF above comes just between Chapter 1, where Melody is introduced, and Chapter 2, when they move in.
This should make Melody's attachment to Beatrix make a lot more sense, as well as give us some more cute moments between Mel and Rosa.
