Ahead, the abandoned factory looms like a skeletal giant. The structure emerges from the treeline, its rusted metal walls streaked with grime and weather stains. Broken windows glare like hollow eyes, and large sections of the corrugated roof sag inward and appear twisted and warped. A tall smokestack juts into the sky, its upper half leaning at an angle, as if it might crumble with the next gust of wind.
The factory yard is a wasteland of cracked asphalt and patches of weeds. A chain-link fence encircles the property, its gate hanging off one hinge. A faded sign near the entrance reads "Riverside Mechanicals," but most of the letters have peeled away, leaving only faint outlines.
Rachel slows down a few steps until you are right next to her. "How do you think we should approach them? Are we going in aggressively or handling this with diplomacy?"
