Games by JimD Newsletter – Game Updates, Nephew Mission, RO Conflict
Added 2024-05-20 18:36:20 +0000 UTCWelcome to my 80th newsletter!
The word for this month is inspiration. Since I finished the university mission, I have started on my list of smaller missions. I will review this in the Safe Haven section below, but I wrote out a nephew training mission this month. It was one of the most enjoyable missions to write. To be able to write interactions with the nephew is so much fun!
Aside from that, I have been working on Stronghold and feeling equally excited. Chapter 4 is extremely long and has several paths, but I am almost finished. I am adding a lot of new content to the game, and again, I will discuss that below.
Let's get started.
Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven, Part 4
Part 4 is 566,000 words, with over 19,000 words added this month! I'm targeting an additional 3,000-4,000 words by the end of the month.
As mentioned, I focused this month on a mission with the nephew. You will need the Dependent Challenge to partake in this scene, but I highly recommend playing with the nephew in at least one of your playthroughs.
In this mission, you can sculpt more of his character with survival training and zombie hunting. You will help him to build fires, forage for food, find freshwater, and do other survival tasks. You will also encounter a few zombies and have the option to let him kill them. All the while, your nephew's personality shines through.
I am also preparing for new content next month related to romantic interests. If your character is involved with multiple partners, tensions and conflicts will arise. Some of those romantic interests may even confront you or your other partner, which could develop into arguments, hurt feelings, or even physical altercations. I will write the scenes being true to each character and give a range of options for how they resolve.
Over the next few months, I will write mostly content where your character remains at the junkyard. One of the game's strengths is interpersonal relationships, and I want to provide a lot of content for that part of the game.
Zombie Exodus: Stronghold
Stronghold is up to 64,000 words converted so far. That means I have added 8,000 words this month. I posted chapter 3 this past weekend, bringing the game to 64,000 words. The game will likely end up with around 400,000 words. Remember, roughly 200,000 words were already written for StoryLoom, so I have to convert it to Choicescript.
I receive little feedback on this game. I know people are playing it, but I would happily accept any criticisms or suggestions. Do you like the characters? Are you not playing it because the plot doesn't interest you? Or are you waiting for the full release? I'm very interested to know your thoughts on this game.

With this release, I added a chapter menu so you can go directly to the chapter you wish to play.
Deadbury Academy
As mentioned, Deadbury Academy is currently on hold as I work on the other two games.
That's all for this month.
Comments
One fact I appreciate about the game is that other characters can form their own relationships if you don't romance themselves. It refreshing, and makes them feel alive. I'd personally prefer if you can't form poly depending on the RO's personality or how they get along with each other
