"My friends," she begins, "I am honored that you've chosen me to lead our group. As you know, I have not always been forthcoming about myself, and at times I have pushed people away from getting to know me. This was not done out of malice but in the hopes of earning your trust naturally. Believe it or not, people treat you differently when you tell them you're a former spy for the Secret Intelligence Service."
A slow roll of laughter spreads through the group.
She pauses for a moment, a faint cough betraying her weakened state, before continuing. "I deeply regret the deception, and I want to assure you that my primary mission now is to protect and care for each of you. The weight of my past actions is something I carry with me, but it also fuels my determination to help save as many lives as possible."
Despite her lingering illness, Rachel's eyes shine with determination as she surveys the faces of the group. "As your leader, I promise to be focused, resourceful, and committed to the well-being of our group. I pledge to focus on teaching everyone self-defense techniques and the utilization of a variety of weapons. While I understand the gravity of our situation, I also believe in the importance of maintaining a sense of camaraderie. We are, after all, in this together.
