Artwork Question

I'm working with an artist on creating images for each character, and Rachel's first. For those of you who are interested in artwork, do you like to see the character represented in the way they are first introduced, or do you prefer to see them in artwork in the way that they are most often seen in game?

For example, when you first meet Rachel, here is her description:

She's tall and lithe but wears a baggy T-shirt with the logo of the Two Turtles Tavern, a bar in the area, and a Rockies baseball cap. You see no weapons or gear and notice sandals on her feet.

However, that doesn't really represent Rachel. Most people would view her in jeans and a T-shirt with a few weapons, a light backpack, and looking ready for action.

How would you like to see her represented in official artwork?

Comments

Show them as they are being dressed and appearing in between parts. If not that then let's just go with their everyday appearance

Lions Pride

Pic of the characters in their prime, performing an action reflective of their character. I imagine Rachel (after she revealed her true occupation) with her baseball cap and traveling light on gear. She has her weapon at the ready for any danger that lies ahead.

African Warlord

I like the idea of the artwork reflecting their day-to-day appearance as it's more likely to be more authentic to who they actually are.

I think it depends on where we are in the story. In Part 1 and 2, it seems fitting to show them as they are described. Both parts happen shortly after everything goes sideways, so they probably would look as described. Part 3 starts a different tone where they hit the "survivor groove" and start to sharpen up to the situation. I assume that continues into Part 4, so it would be neat to see a progression where they might be leaner, stronger, in more appropriate clothes, with weapons, etc. It would also be a nice surprise when players first go from 2 to 3 (or 3 to 4) where they can see the progression. If there's only one per person, then I would stay true to how you first found them like they're a snapshot in your mind. People can typically remember when they met someone for the first time clearly, so it's like the character's rookie card.

How you see them on a daily basis rather than β€œpre-outbreak”.

I vote for the artwork depicting their most common look, what we would likely see everyday see as a group member alongside them
