Zombie Exodus: Part 3 Poll

I have recently been in contact with Hosted Games about the publishing schedule for 2021. Based on that conversation, I can see a few options for how to complete Part 3.

1. I can complete chapters 11 and 12 by the end of February, test for a month, and then send the files for editing and publication. Based on estimates that will take two months. That means Part 3 will be released in June at the earliest.

2. I can complete chapter 11 and only include the trip to the Silverthorne Militia camp in chapter 12. This will cut out a planned trip to the River Dog's base in chapter 12. I can finish by February, and the game can be released by April at the earliest.

3. I can complete chapter 11 and end Part 3. That means I would be able to submit files to Hosted Games by the end of January and the game can be released in March at the earliest.

As I keep stressing, these are estimates and some of the work is out of my control. I feel there needs to be some interaction with the Silverthornes in Part 3. However this part is already at 400,000 words, which is even larger than Part 2.

I am open to comments and opinions. Please realize the results of this poll will only help me to make a decision. As the primary writer, ultimately I need to decide how to proceed, but I would like to hear feedback from my patrons who have supported me as I wrote Part 3.

Comments

Personally, i will choose option 1. The reason why is because JimD work is famous for its quality, not how fast he can make it.

Thanks Katie. Well said and I appreciate your thoughts.

This is a tough one! After an hour of mentally weighing it back and forth while I took care of all my dogs, I finally picked the 1st option. I'm EXTREMELY excited for the next part (as you're fully aware, Jim, considering my rambling emails πŸ˜…). ...but I even more strongly feel that if you're up to it, I'd prefer to read all that you have planned to the fullest of what you think makes for a satisfying (to you) cutoff. If doing do so pushes the timeline back a little to include the Silverthornes and River Dogs, then so be it, imo! It's not like you've been slacking off, and now you're making up excuses to get more time and play catch-up because you were procrastinating endlessly. We've all witnessed how hard you have been working on this. Your posts and newsletters every month can attest to that. Besides, I figure that if we've waited this long, what's a bit longer? So throw my vote wholeheartedly into option 1! 😊

I would agree, but then I thought about how option 1 (voting for getting everything Jim wanted for this part) only adds a couple months to the schedule, if we presume it all goes smoothly and is out by around June. Meanwhile, option 2 releases the next part to us a SLIGHTLY bit earlier, but not by a big enough margin that I think makes a big difference between wait times. It feels to me that it pales in comparison to how long we've already been patient, imo, so a couple more months is easy-peasy. Despite the longer extension, we would have far more content to enjoy when it's published, rather than pushing some content back for the next part, which will take quite some time to complete. I think option 1 is the best bang for your buck, relatively speaking.

Although I do see option 1 is popular, I see option 2 as a middle ground.
