Hello beautiful moon people,
I hope you are getting some sun wherever you are. It's still raining in the UK, great start to the summer haha. Anyway, this song is getting me through the dreary weather. I hope it lifts your spirits too.
Working with Georgia has been a dream come true. The songs feel effortless, the chord progressions come easily and the melodies Miss Train sends back are just glorious.
Now for a little bit of background on Cold Receiver...
"For me the song is based on no such real-life experience but more just watching too much Fargo during lockdown and imagining mini domestic scenarios in my mind. What I really wanted to do with the lyric was to break the traditional happy ending mould and to suggest that sometimes good things happen to bad people." - Georgia Train
I tend to write more complex minor driven patterns but I felt like the last three songs had done that on the piano, especially Mankind. I had remembered that Georgia had said once that her favourite song I’d put out was Seraphim. I started this one in a major key with some big open chords instead, and let it travel. I’m really thrilled with it, the vocal lines are catchy and it and the two voices joined in harmony works so well. It's also quite different than the others.
Please as always let us know your feedback, we've got at least one more song to give you before we get ready to release the full EP, and a music video too... ;)
Thank you as always for supporting our music.
Love & Feathers,
Mishkin xx
