The reason for the aggression - Red takes out Victor and endlessly calls him "freak". Victor asks him to stop. But Red calls him a "pathetic weak freak" and as a result, Victor kicks him, and he falls down.
I skipped this scene as Red's death should be a little more mysterious (where did the cougar come from?) and it should also play a role in the future.
