June Monthly Release - Yōkai!

Hello everyone!

We return to mythology! And to the fantastic creatures, the ghosts, the demons... All of them coming from Japanese folklore this time. Let's take a look at the June release: Yokais!

With this set, apart from adding a new group of creatures and monsters to the collection, we continue with the line inspired by Japanese culture that we started with the Samurais & Ronins set, last March. Obviously mythology is immense, so the following models are just a collection of some of the best known and most popular, but I hope that some of them surprise you. We are going to review and put some of them in context. Apologies in advance if I messed up with any names!

We start with some that we could call "homely". These yokai are generally found in houses that have been inhabited for a long time. The three most to the left we consider Tsukumogami, daily objects that come to life after a century. We have the Karakasa (umbrella), Bake-zōri (sandals) and Chōchin-obake (lantern). On the far right, a somewhat different spirit, the Keukegen is a furry ghost that, although peaceful, is related to disease and dirt.

The following four can be classified as Bakemono, monsters or animals with variety of supernatural powers and abilities. From left to right, Kamaitachi (quite literally a weasel with scythes), Tanuki ( trickster raccoon-dog with shapeshifting powers), Kappa (evil amphibian creature of rivers and lakes) and Kitsune (a playful, but not necessarily evil, woodland creature that can transform into a human)

We didn't leave the Bakemono, but these deserved their own stop. Kodamas are generally peaceful spirits, as long as you treat their environment with respect, since they are guardians of nature. And since they can be associated with many elements of it, it seemed appropriate to do a few of them!

And with this we come to the last ones. And again we have a little mix. In the first place, the Tengu, a spirit sometimes considered terrible and violent, others simply a fierce protector. Then we have the Oni, somehow the most purely evil of all, but even with demons you can make a deal from time to time. Actually, I'm not sure if there are female Onis, but here is our Oni Princess! And closing the set, the Yūrei, very close to the western conception of the ghost.

And that's it! What a number of new names! I hope that all of them together can give a new air to your horror stories, the raids in the magical forests and the enchanted towns.

Let's remember now that if you want heroes, monsters, creatures, allies, enemies, structures, decorations... You may find everything you need in one of our previous releases. With this code you have a 60% discount on all of them until the end of the month in our MMF store, take a look!

We end this launch post here. BUT! The list of creatures does not end here. I owe to the Guild Executives, and next week a new creature will join the group. And it will also be accessible to everyone else! I will keep you informed! I hope you liked this set, and see you in the reveal of the next one!
