Robots & Mechanics - December 2020 Release

Hello everybody!

Welcome to the last Monthly Release of the year! what a ride! After times of sword and witchcraft we are moving to more advanced technologies... but not too much... Let's take a look!

If we are going to deal with mechanisms we will need skilled partners. This group of mechanics and engineers can make anything work... or stop it.

You may have already seen them teased, but once again here we have our robots. I really can't say they are the enemies of this pack. Who could, looking at those little guys? Maybe even that big man has a clockwork heart.

Speaking of the big fellow, in the last post I advanced a surprise related to him. Well, it might not be a big deal, but I hope some of you find it useful: In addition to its single model, you will also find files of its independent parts, with ball joints, so that you can pose it (almost) as you want.

And before these two groups begin their adventures, you may want to set a good stage for the action. If you were too used to a medieval dungeon, this scenery can help you give it a more industrial look. This set of modular pipes is prepared for boards with a 25mm grid, with joints of almost all kinds so that you can make your own arrangement.

Finally, taking a look at the files you may notice that this time the minis do not come with a built-in base. Instead of trying to include a different version for everyone, this month I have preferred to leave the models in their simplest version and give the possibility that each one can configure it as they want. You are gonna need some glue, but I think is worth the try! To go along with this month's theme, there goes a set of special bases (but the set also includes flat ones).

This is all! What do you think?

Just because this is the last monthly release doesn't mean it's the last of the year! We are in a very special month, with Christmas just around the corner.

I'll be back shortly with new information on future releases. For now, I hope you enjoy this pack, and have a very good start to the month!

Carlos Montero

DM sent!

Hola Francisco. Los archivos estaban adjuntos en este post, pero solo durante el mes de Diciembre. Los nuevos de enero los publicaré en breve.

Carlos Montero

donde estan los archivos para descargar?

francisco

Am I too late for this?

Christy Zamora

Need these files please. 11:20pm USA time ... not yet the end of the December. Many thanks for your assistance.

Thomas Anders

Well, first of all... What kind of printer will you use? I am not a support expert, so the best advice I can give you is if you are using an sla printer always triple check your supports if you are using autosupporting. Softwares like Photon File Validator are usefull to find unsupported points. For fdm printers supports will always leave heavy marks on your mini. Depending on the filament you are using, a well tuned Support Interface may help removing it.

Carlos Montero

Hey there! I'm fairly new to 3D printing. Any recommendations on how to set up supports for your models?

Pedro Castillo

It is true. It was a bad translation on my part, They are not exactly ball joints. Even though is possible, making a proper ball join would mean to deform many other parts of the model until It would look more like a small toy than a miniature. Maybe a good solution would be to use a small amount of polymeric sticky clay or epoxi that allows for a certain time of work before drying and holding the pieces together.

(I don't speak Portuguese, I hope I have translated this correctly) You could use the mechanics in the same way as the angels from AQ Inferno. The guild that frees them can join them to their team at the start of the scenario. Putting together the robot parts is a great idea! Maybe he can be a great ally in a collaborative scenario of all the guilds against a huge horde of uncontrolled robots, so it does not matter which guild gets the part (but more coins for the team with more parts!).

Carlos Montero

Not this time! They are original creations only based on the theme. Anyway they are scaled following a 25mm grid (≈1 in), so they should be useful in any game system with that scale and also on all Arcadia Quest related games.

Carlos Montero

After printing, I'm less enthused about these ball joints. They are a neat idea, but then trying to actually pose these is really awkward. Especially if I want a symmetrical look like the "default" pose. Since unlike ball joints in other toys they don't snap together and have friction to hold a pose while the glue is drying, these just sit on the spheres and slide all over.

Alexander Wilkinson

Very cool and cutes robots! Joint ball is nice idea.

Luiza Tavares

Are these boardgame related pieces?

Kim Alberto

pintan genial. muy buen trabajo, gracias!

SrKlein

Looking again and I love this so much. My buddies and I are going to do a chibi frostgrave campaign, and this hits all of the constructs at once.

Looks awesome!
