RC Paramotor V2 (STL files)

Comments

I’m new to your page. I think this project is epic.

Thanks!

Hi Vishal, the brake lines are relatively easy to attach/tune. I hang the wing upside down and pull the brake lines so they just start to move the wing, then attach them to the arm of the paramotor. So when the arms are fully extended upwards, the wing isn't deformed, but when the arms are pulled down, they maximise the amount the wing is deformed by. Hope this makes sense? Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom, I am almost done with my build and setup, can you share how you attach and tune the brake lines?

Hello Silvio, There isn't a logical reason other than I didn't notice at the time of designing it! I've now modified it so that both guards are at 30 degrees. Thanks for letting me know!

Hello Tom, why was the basic frame not developed symetrically? I try to explain: In the direction of flight seen from behind on the engines. The left guard is tilted 30 degrees to the base but the right handle is 20 degrees tilted to the base. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fl8qp8nTuGeDsiwUxE7lBncy8cqNJZAX/view?usp=sharing" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fl8qp8nTuGeDsiwUxE7lBncy8cqNJZAX/view?usp=sharing</a> <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-PGja-0kC77Pr6Ix1r_pCWZiV1nnTFMP/view?usp=sharing" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-PGja-0kC77Pr6Ix1r_pCWZiV1nnTFMP/view?usp=sharing</a>

Just an update to my earlier post. I’ve now successfully printed the main V2 body - it took 11 hours 59 minutes! I had to keep a close eye on the prop shrouds early on as there was a tendency for one side to lift off the bed; once they were complete I fastened them both down with blue Scotch tape and the rest was easy. I’m using a Prusa Mk2 and Cura 3.4 slicer. The print has excellent finish so it’s looking good for the next stage of construction. One small point is that it seems I will need to file a notch to accommodate the lead where it enters the servo body otherwise I can’t get the servo into the perfectly sized aperture. Will keep posting on my progress. Glad you are returning to the e-bike - looking forward to seeing that.

Construí uma unidade e ficou muito boa. A dificuldade está nos ajuste do velame;

Just about to start building this for my son ... unfortunately the HobbyKing Parafoil is permanently out of stock ... Can you recommend any other parafoil that would work with this setup? Any special requirements for it?

There is a list of components uploaded with STL files

to make a working setup with a motor and speed control (or throttle) you need to purchase a remote, a receiver (receives signals sent by remote), an ESC (electronic speed control, supplies power to system and controls motor) a motor, and a battery that fits your ESC. hope that helps!

Hi Tom, as I am a beginner in RC, could you make a list of components to purchase at Hobby King? There are way too many references and I am lost. I basically need everything. Thanks in advance!

I was actually considering using 3s to make the throttle easier to manage. I haven't tested 3s yet, but I can't see why it shouldn't work. best to try it before buying any new batteries.

Tom, In your video you seemed to indicate that you might have too much power with the twin motors. Do you think using 3S LiPos instead of 4S would work? I would have to buy some 4S so hoping the answer is yes.

I’ll give it a go then and let you know in due course. The other possibility was to truncate the prop shrouds but seemed a pity to do that.

Hi Mike, As far as I know, it should be fine to print at "diagonally" on the bed. Thanks!

Tom Stanton

By the way I’m a big fan and find your work very inspiring.

Tom, I became a patron and downloaded the STLs for the paramotor. I find the main body is a bit too big for my Prusa Mk2 printer, but it will fit if I turn it 45 degrees on the bed. Do you think the print would still be OK if the piece is not orthogonal on the bed? I could just give it a go but it’s a 12 hour print.
