Tom, I'd highly recommend a conversation with Joe Barnard. <a href="https://www.bps.space/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.bps.space/</a> He's building a gimbaled rocket a la SpaceX. Might be a fun collaboration.

2017-10-17 13:06:16 +0000 UTCHey Charlie, Yeah I'm attempting to build a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that will land itself... yep that sounds crazy right. I'm not going to be using actual rocket engines, but will use ducted fans instead because I need full control of the thrust output. So it's more of an electrically driven representation of the real falcon 9! I've been working on the stability and control aspect of it for a month or so now, so I'm hoping it'll be a success! Thanks
