I can't believe we have less than half a month left until 2025 O _ O
Been a little busy, been a little sick, but managing to survive so far!
I think end of the year is pretty hectic but I think I managed to keep things under control this year!! (I hope lol)
Sharing two timelapses with you guys that I wanted to share before but didn't get the chance to!
First is the finished Halloween piece!! I was surprised how well received this piece was but... I guess everyone likes witches and cats afterall hehe
You can kinda see the rough sketch part of this too! (The rare file I hit record at the start)
For original pieces I've just been skipping the lineart process entirely (coughlinearttakestoomuchtimesometimes) and it's been working out pretty well!
I do have to do a little more paint-overs near the end but I think it actually gives me a lot more freedom to play around with composition/details!

Hm....in terms of work, I guess there has been a few announcements as well!
First of all, I got to draw the promotional card for the upcoming Love Interest Theme Cup for Weiss Schwarz! Not sure if any of you guys play or participate in this, but if you are I hope you can get a copy of the card!
I got the sample card too!! So cool!! It feels very different to have my art on a card... I hope I can do more TCG jobs in the future!!
Another announced job that hasn't been released yet is the NIKKE novelization!
It was announced briefly during the anniversary stream but I was asked to to the art for the novelization (aka Light Novel) version of the series! I think it is a spin-off of the actual game's story into a "school" setting so it's much light hearted + comedic!
I hope you look forward to seeing how I drew some of the NIKKE characters! + w+
I think every since I started working on light novels, I've averaged about 5 volumes per year...I wonder how I managed to keep that up over the year on top of a lot of other work haha
I hope to pace myself better in the upcoming year as well! I want to branch out and work on a bunch of things + original works too!

The Halloween art is very cute!!! That Milky Way underneath the hat is so cool!! I’m curious though, is the canvas all fixed in the middle of the video because you are using some kind of recording tool? Although I don’t know much about drawing, it’s always interesting to hear your thoughts on the process and watch timelapse videos! Happy New Year, Sen-sei! It's always so cool to see a piece be finished from its start, though it's a shame that there really wasn't an acrylic stand of catto... Also love how the witch illustration turned out and was received based on the sketch, knew it was going to be amazing but you well exceeded expectations. The timelapses this time around were a treat to see done piece-by-piece and how it evolved. Here's hoping for another productive year for 2025!

2024-12-18 16:52:29 +0000 UTCI remembered watching this one video about color relativity, where the artist explained about this one optical illusion, how just one shade of color can change in different surrounding color and dominant color, like how in this one painting with red as dominant color, the thought-to-be green tree is actually a saturated orange („• ֊ •„) The reason why i put that example up is because this one artwork of your reminded me exactly the above example. It showed how well Nagu-sensei did with the color relativity in this drawing, as the blue color hoodie like i thought at first was actually a white hoodie combined with a desaturated blue as shadow and even the blue background. Not sure if it was intentional, but if it was, sasuga Nagu-sensei (￣▽￣)

Even though you skipped the line art process, but i still think that you put just as much effort into this artwork as in others. Because i think your sketching is quite detailed in general, especially at "Za Hando"(not sure why you use different color for that tho.. but my guess is that it'll be easier to distinguish during coloring and layering..hehe..) But to sum it up, nice work Nagu-sensei!! Moving up to the second one, the catto art. I think you did the "non line art" just as well as the previous one, so i think i am gonna talk about the other things that i like about this artwork specifically, which is the coloring, or more precise, the shadowing colors („• ᴗ •„) You know, when i first saw this artwork, i have difficulty to tell the color of the hoodie and the shoes. Was it white, or was it light blue?that's what i wondered about. But now seeing your timelapse, i know it was white, and i was impressed with your coloring skills.

It's always enjoying to see your drawing timelapses ( ´ ω ` ) I even tried to set the timelapses at the slowest speed, so that i can see and appreciate your process as much as possible!(≧◡≦) So yeah..wall of text incoming...(gomen Nagu-sensei (:3」∠).) At first i looked at your Halloween art. Beside the cool color combination at the finished artwork, i think it's even better now after seeing the timelapse. From what i know, the step of lineart can help shaping and making the art cleaner. So, by skipping the line art, the process is somewhat similar to oil painting, where you sketch the drawing at first and paint the colors later. And i think you did a really good job, Nagu-sensei, as i really like how you did the color-blocking and added details gradually to create the depth(or paint-over as you called i believe), which remind me a lot of the sculpting process! such a good dimensional view!! (there is more in the reply due to words limit (:3」∠)...)

Would you say that the "piece by piece" aporach on the second drawing is harder or easier than the one first one, where the whole drawing is first coloured in roughtly together and then detailled as a whole? Anyway both are really great, thank you for sharing the process behind them. Also congrats on the Card Game and NIKKE novel drawings, great to see people being able to enjoy your art. It's so easy to get overwhelmed by projects isn't it... If I see something I'm excited about I tend to say yes very quickly (for me it's mostly volunteer work after normal work), and it's always lots of fun and very rewarding, but someone's I don't notice that it's getting a bit too much 😆 Let's all try and pace ourselves well next year (yes, you too Nagu! 😉)
