Patreon Update And The OGL

We wanted to give you a quick update on the goings ons here at the lodge so take a seat and we will get started!
First let's start with the whole debacle with DnD's OGL. For those who don't know it was leaked that Wizards of the Coast was planning to revoke and change the original open gaming license in a way that would very negatively impact third party creators. What does that mean for DTL? In short we don't know yet. Until the final document is released it will be hard to say but if it stays in its current state it may mean we will no longer be releasing 5e stat blocks and that we won't be releasing campaign settings we have in the works. At least not for DnD. We still want to provide that content it just may be with a different system like Pathfinder. Models should be untouched and will continue as normal regardless. Once we have more info we can give you a better update. Until then we will have to wait and see.
We got alot of great feedback from the survey we sent out last month! There where alot of great suggestions and we truly appreciate every single one. If we don't implement something you suggested know that it is not because we don't care but that for every opinion we received there where just as many if not more people with the exact opposite opinion. One thing that was almost unanimous was how kind and encouraging your feedback was. The support you showed was overwhelming and the number one feedback we got was to "keep making unique models". It means a lot and the unique creatures you love are our favorite thing to make. They are not going anywhere. As creators we are at the mercy of our supporters so we ask one thing of you. Making unique models can sometimes be a risk, they might explode or they might flop. When you decide to stick around for a month that maybe isn't totally your jam it helps us out a lot by giving us more freedom to take more risks. Of course we will always do our best to listen to your feedback and make models that you enjoy. We ask that you consider continuing to support when you might otherwise cancel in order to enable us to push those creative boundaries while making sure we get a paycheck. Either way we are grateful for all your support and hope to continue to improve the experience of being a member of the lodge.
Lastly, One suggestion that was mentioned multiple times was to have a tier for only a few dollars that would allow you to lower your pledge amount for a given month but maintain your status to be able to receive updates, vote on sets and contests, and maintain loyalty reward statuses. So next month we will be releasing the Greenie tier for $2 that will allow you to show your support and stay tuned into the lodge without having to completely cancel your pledge.

New Patron, exploring the system here. Loved your models for a long time (found on tiktok) and finally made the leap to get a 3d printer. So excited to be able to make your creations come to life! The 5e statblock no longer being included while very understandable is disappointing as it's still listed on the main page. Just figured I'd note that since you're no longer doing that. Will have to just do a little work and homebrew some stats. Not a deal breaker for me, just figured I'd mention it since I've been trying to find the Darkwoods stat block and found this post instead. Anywho, thanks for all you create. Hope to snag me some of the oozes and mimics at some point too. And that snail lodge?!?! So cool. Probably the set that solidified my love of your aesthetic. Keep up the good work!

I've even gotten out of table top games as well, mainly due to cost (even the lower cost games just started getting far too expensive, like Warmahordes). I actually love this system... The patreons I mean... I have FAR too many things to print, yet I can't stop being a patron because of my love for stuff that's Dragon related, and the amazing work you all do with your designs. I have so many things already printed from what I've subbed so far for, and have a LOT of stuff that I'll eventually print. WotC is irrelevant to me, and I bet a lot of others. If they want to pull a GW and make more money by alienating the vast majority of their users and milking those that are addicted and can't turn it down, then so be it, but I don't think that will hurt you specifically. That said, you are one of the very few patreons that I can't see myself stopping my sub for unless I run into financial problems, because along with Mini Monster Mayhem, the 3D printing community is far better off with you all in it, and I'm happy to help that going if I can.

2023-01-18 15:21:04 +0000 UTCPersonally, I'm not backing yu for your DnD stuff and even if I were I likely won't be playing DnD ever again after the recent debacle. Also, while I don't have an "immediate use" for this month's release, it's such a freaking awesome release that I wasn't tempted to cancel anyway--I feel like eventually I'll find a time and use for it. Hopefully the new Greenie tier will also help you all feel confident in doing the awesome work you're doing.

If it was “draft language” and “not the final version” they wouldn’t be using it in contracts. This OGL was most definitely their plan for a final version and it would have fucked the vast majority of content creators.
