March 2021 Lore Release

Hello Fellow Trappers!

Lets jump in with the lore for this months models!

Glimmer Scale Dragon

The Glimmer Scale Dragon is the rarest of the greater dragons found in Alegis. Known for its light, iridescent scales, for which it is named, the Glimmer Scale is a spectacular sight to behold. This beautiful dragon is said to watch over the wild animals of the desert, creating oasis's for thirsty travellers to stumble upon. Glimmer Scales, while generally well tempered are still dangerous and when angered or provoked can wreak havoc. Typically they come into conflict with humanoids when the lands, in which they live and protect, are trampled on or disrespected by the mortal races. On these occasions, unsuspecting farmers can find themselves at the wrath of one of these majestic beasts. This is when The Dragon Trappers Lodge come in to negotiate or, if worst comes to worst, fight these dragons. They deal a variety of damage types so resistances to damage won't be of much help. It is also best to take it down as quickly as possible, before it starts to use its magic.

Potagriffmus

Often referred to as The King of Hippos, the Pottagriffmus is a truly regal beast. While regular hippos are already aggressive and territorial, Potagriffmus are even more so. Many foolish foreigners have met their end thinking that the majestic creature was docile and slow moving, only to find themselves crushed. Their origin is unknown though local legends say that it's kind where a direct creation of the gods. The fact that they can summon common hippos to come to their aid possibly supports this. When a potagriffmus takes up residence too close to a town’s water supply, they become a problem. When fighting one, ranged attacks are wise. Stay out of the water and if possible keep to the skies. Doing so will keep their summoned hippos from being able to reach you. Be aware that the Potagriffmus continually heals any of its nearby allies so it is wise to split them up.

Mandrilcore

While many creatures are dangerous they aren't necessarily malicious. The same cannot be said for the mandrilcore. This monstrosity is pure evil, seeking out helpless travellers and massacring anyone unfortunate enough to not escape. Typically they will hide at a canyon’s rim, waiting for travellers to pass below, at which point they will glide down and strike from above. They are blind but can still sense things around them so be aware when trying to ambush one. The main thing to remember is to keep a safe distance from the stinger at the end of its tail. Getting stung can mean the end for a Trapper. If you can sever the tail it will become a much more manageable fight.

Glass Watchers

The Glass Watchers are strange creatures. Although they can't speak, they can communicate telepathically. The reason for their name is from their ability to look into glass surfaces and foresee the future at that location. While not dangerous they are useful to Trappers who will sometimes petition their services to try and see when a problem creature or dragon will be returning to a certain location so they can plan an effective attack. Often times the Glass Watchers will aid a trapper in exchange for gold and jewellery though sometimes they will take fish instead, which can difficult to come across farther inland in Alegis. The most successful Trappers in Alegis will often have a Glass Watcher traveling with them.

Sand Bounder

Sand Bounders are strong and agile creatures native to Alegis. While not particularly suited for mounts they make great pack animals. Sand Bounders can travel long distances and their large padded feet makes it easy for them to traverse deep sand and climb steep cliffs with ease. Sand Bounders are quick creatures and capturing one for a pack animal can be difficult, but once fed they will usually and willingly stick around.

Ramos

Ramos was a druid protecting his oasis when it was attacked by a Hooded Thrasher Dragon. Despite his best efforts, he was left unconscious and his oasis destroyed. When Ramos awoke he was in the care of the Dragon Trappers Lodge. They where seeking the dragon who had destroyed his oasis and whose trail they had been following for weeks. Ramos asked them to let the dragon go as he did not wish to witness anymore bloodshed. While the Trappers were skeptical that there would be any other way to deal with the dragon, they were willing to let Ramos try his method. To the surprise of the trappers he was able to get the dragon to return to the wilderness unharmed and was offered a spot in The Lodge. At first Ramos declined, but upon realizing that if he joined he could potentially prevent even more bloodshed, he accepted. Now a Veteran Trapper, Ramos is the best The Lodge has at negotiating and relocating creatures without harming them. He has gone a long way to improve The Lodge’s reputation with those that seek to defend the magical creatures of the world.

Ahmut

Ahmut was trained as a priest of Ka in the Great Temple of Khaza from the time he was a youth. He tried for years to conform to the teachings and standards of The Order but he never quite fit in and always had a hard time feeling the devotion that the other priests had. After years of practicing the magic that he thought had been coming from Ka, he one day realized that the magic was, in fact, coming from himself. Ahmut was never a priest, he was a sorcerer. Never had he felt so free. He abandoned The Order, seeking to use his powers in the ways he wanted to not the ways The Order commanded. Eventually, he joined The Lodge and has been growing his abilities ever since.

Kadir the Free

Kadir is the only member of The Lodge like himself, in that he is not a mortal but a Djinn. Kadir has been with The Lodge for centuries after a Trapper set him free from his lamp. Doing so caused him to lose much of his power, but granted him his independence. Kadir joined The Lodge and for the time being is happy there. Perhaps someday he will move on but for now he is content with his choice.

Nasina

Nasina was an assassin before joining The Lodge. She took jobs with shadowy government officials and corrupt merchants. The lives she had taken without question were just names in a book to her. Though, despite her coldness, deep inside the guilt at choosing this way of life ate at her. Once, one of her ‘assignments’ was an old priest presiding over a city, deep in the canyons. She followed her usual routine; tracking her target, learning their habits and eventually taking her shot. Nasina never asked clients questions, but this time perhaps she should have. The priest Nasina had killed had imprisoned a mandrilcore, and when he died the creature was set free upon the city. Nasina knew this wasn't her problem and that her job was done, but for some reason she couldn't leave this isolated settlement defenceless. Despite the odds and against her better judgement, she blew her cover and engaged the mandrilcore. It was a difficult fight that left her unconscious at the end, but ultimately she was successful. She awoke in a prison cell having been caught for her many crimes and murders. She would have been executed, were it not for the law stating that a prisoner may join The Lodge in lieu of their sentence. Trappers, having heard of her deed, visited her in prison and offered her a position, stating that she would finally have a chance to redeem herself. Nasina wanted more than anything to be free of the weight she had carried for so long, so she accepted. Nasina does not speak often and on Ramos's crew her job is to be the last line of defence, should things not go smoothly. She has been with The Lodge ever since.
