EDIT - This video is now live to the public.

Hey hey everyone.

As promised here is next months public true crime story video.
I'll also be uploading the other one (Jett McKee) in about 12 hours from now publicly.

This video will be made public this time next month. I hope you all enjoy it, it's a little different to the cases that I usually cover, but I felt as though it's an important one.

Hope the weekend has been beautiful so far and i'll speak to you all very soon.

Consulted? Dave said early in the vid that she had the mental capacity of a 4 month old baby. No, it was unfortunately on her father to help her. And a man will take that on himself so others don't have to carry the burden.

my immediate thought on this: it doesn't sound like the girl was actually consulted about the decision to kill her, yet there's no element of the story that suggests she would be incompetent to offer an opinion on that. based on the description in your video, her friends seem to think she was intelligent, self-determined, and had a will to live. this seems to me like something that happens a _lot_ in disability situations -- it kind of seems to me like this is just a very extreme case of the attitude of organizations like Autism Speaks. in particular, I see no contradiction between the doting attitude of her parents and her father's decision to kill her. frequently parents think that doing their children more favors means they're entitled to more control. i think this is also the line of thought behind the "parent's bill of rights" concept that conservatives in the US are lobbying for in a lot of places. i think this is a harmful attitude because children are people and should have the same rights as all people. i think unfortunately the media has promoted a framing of this situation that will cause people to tend to assume the father was right and had her best interest in mind.

have you ever considered doing a video on the daniel colwell case? I feel like like the details surrounding it would mesh extremely well with the more open, empathic and somewhat philosophical stance that you tend to tackle things with. even if you don't I think you'd find it pretty interesting. There's a clear timeline of his mental state and the wild court footage of him actively working against his own lawyer/threatening the family and friends of jury to persuade them to give him the death penalty . Afterwards he changes his mind while sitting on death row because he recieved proper treatment and medication. There's a very good episode of American Justice about it, season 11 episode 9 "suicide by execution".
