Early Viewing - The Villain of Edith Finch

Hi there. So I'm having internet problems right now and the issue was meant to be fixed on Monday. But the internet miraculously came back on last night and stayed on long enough for me to upload the next video.

The link below is unlisted, which means you have to be given it by someone else to see the video. So please DO NOT SHARE THE LINK. We do this Early Viewing thing this way because no one has "leaked" the video yet. If that changes, I'll have to push the video to public early (ruining Early Access for you guys), and then have to make a long email list for next time (bothering you guys to confirm email addresses).

So please DO NOT SHARE THE LINK!

This video is focused on discussing a story because that's what Edith Finch itself is. Prey should be next and closer to the usual thing I do. Despite being 53 minutes this video didn't take me *that* long to make, so it's felt like a break from all the playthroughs that I've had to do for Prey and System Shock 2.

Anyway I'll stop talking. Hope you guys like it.

This is a completely spoilerrific video right? I'll skip this until I finish the game then just like I'm doing with RotTR and Breath of the Wild

Very awesome. I think this is my new favorite, overtaking your analysis of SOMA. Your constant effort to acknowledge perspectives other than your own, while also not allowing that to keep you from presenting your take, is a huge reason I hold absolutely no remorse for choosing to purchase your work each month.

Really Great. It reminds me of Firewatch. I would love to see you do a comprehensive review on that.

I loved this video so much! I just finished my second playthrough of Edith Finch and even though I loved the gameplay and storytelling I felt like I was missing something... Your explanation of the villain was excellent and thought provoking.

Incredible! You seem both smart and inquisitive (at least more than myself) and I find videos like these quite wonderful.

Ahhh, now I can't watch it because I apparently need to play it first!

Thats a great suggestion, even though he does mention it here from time to time. I think next up is Prey and then Nier Automata. Joseph is of such a high caliber when talking about games, i could find myself bying and playing the "next up" just to compare my views with his.

You do a superb job conveying the experience of playing through this: the power of some of the individual moments; the cryogenic chill of some of the realisations. Had a real lump in my throat at let's-say the "new day" bit! (I haven't played the game myself, just to be clear! - it just seems obvious that you've tried to directly communicate the emotions it was attempting to elicit, and that both efforts (yours & those of the game) were very successful.)

Great video! Could you add something like a "up next" list so we can play them before the review or even buy them when on sale.
