Zelda Video in About Five Hours

Update #1 -- It's 5:40 PM and the video is only at 43%. It can jump around a lot but it's not usually this slow. I can't do anything about this but I'll do another update at 8 PM. I might have to push the public release date to later on Saturday.

Update #2 -- It's 7:48 PM and we're at 60%. I think it might be my computer. Maybe producing the video was the final nail in the coffin. I'm getting some weird graphical artifacts on webpages and some random numbers added to youtube page titles. Or it could be Youtube itself, or something wrong with Chrome. A restart might fix it but I'm afraid it'll reset the upload. 

Fallout 4 DLC was finished in about 4 hours and that video was longer/larger than this one so, yeah, sorry everyone. I thought I was being safe with my estimate but it's slowed down a lot. It took five hours to do this latest 40% from 20%, so if that's the steady rate it'll be past 1 AM after processing. I'm going to get some food and prepare for a long night. I'll make a whole new post when it's finished so you all get an email notification.

I thought I was being smart by doing it this way. Oh well. Everything about this video has been this kind of difficult so I'll be relieved when it's finally up. Sorry about all this.

Hey everyone. The next video is uploading as I'm writing this. It's at 20% and I'll update this post with a link to it when it's done. It's been uploading for about an hour and a half now (it's almost 10 gigs so it's taking a while), so I'm going to estimate it'll be watchable at around 8 PM EST.

This is going to work with the video being Unlisted so that anyone with the link can watch it. I'm going to assume that no one will "leak" the video out. If that happens then I'll have to push forward with properly releasing it to everyone, and then next time add everyone to an email list--which will be quite a bit of trouble for you guys too if it needs to be confirmed. I'd like to avoid doing that so hopefully no one leaks it.

If you like to post videos on social media and the like, the video will be made public at noon tomorrow, so you can be ready for that if that's the kind of thing you like to do. I would ideally like the early viewing to be longer going forward but this video has been hell to make, has had too many delays, and Saturday around noon has historically been a great time for videos to get exposure. I hope everyone understands.

The other thing I want to say is that adding everyone's name to the credits wasn't as simple as I thought it would be. Some people contacted me confirming that they would like to be in the credits when they weren't at the $5 pledge tier--I don't want to cheapen it for people who legitimately pledge that much so I had to spend a lot of time going through the stats in Patreon to make sure every name matched with the pledge reward.

How this works is that there are separate lists for people who are above a certain pledge tier, but also have to opt-in to receive certain rewards. For example, there are at least three people who are above $5 pledges, but have only chosen to receive the $1 and $3 benefits. There are also a lot of people who haven't claimed rewards at all.

The issue is that many people may not know about the rewards because they became active AFTER they pledged. So the compromise I reached was that I used first names with only an initial for the last name if the reward wasn't confirmed. And I shortened any unique names in a similar way. I know I'm being too cautious about this but I have no idea what kind of background many of you could have--announcing your full name in connection to me might not be something you want.

So if your name is missing, or you would like it to be displayed in full, please go into the options on Patreon and see if you can opt-in for the $5 reward. You can also reply here after watching the video if you weren't included properly, and I'll make sure to get you from now on. The credits were also waaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than I expected them to be too. I'd like the names to be up for more screen time. I'll see about doing it differently for the next video.
