Added 2024-04-07 08:02:36 +0000 UTCIt's not often I head to Scotland's capital. It's like a larger version of York from back home and with all the tourists it's just not my kinda place.
That said, my friend Al was going through for the day and asked if anyone wanted to join him, and I hadn't seen him in ages and also just fancied a change. I've been taking street photos fairly consistently in Glasgow the last couple of years, so I fancied expanding on that somewhat.
We arrived in the city early, and by the time we got up to the castle we were in full swing. Many people taking their selfies with the castle, and as a result no one was really paying attention to what was happening around them. It made taking photos a breeze, and now that I think of it, it's the exact kind of location where if starting out, would make sense to practice a bit and get over the fear of pointing a camera in someones direction.
My favourite photo of the day is the one I've led with in this post, just as we were approaching the castle. She was sat on a step, the wind was picking up, and she just looked really fed up - I love the expression on her face. I don't know if she was waiting on someone, or just taking a breather. Maybe she wasn't even fed up, I only saw her for a few seconds.
Anyway, we clocked 27,000 steps over the course of a few hours. I'd like to go back, take it a bit slower and cover a full day. So I think this will be a recurring trip throughout the spring/summer months as the weather improves. Who knows, maybe I'll actually tackle the Fringe this year.
All these were shot on the Monochrom, I also threw the M6 in my pocket and swapped it out a few times with some Portra 800. Will see how those shots turn out when I get be bothered to drag myself to the lab.
