Last night we drove to the braes car park looking over Paisley and Glasgow, we got there just after the sun had set and the intention was to wait around and watch the meteor shower. But the glow from the city below, and everyone's headlights in the car park made it seem unlikely we'd spot anything at all so instead we drove round to a wee quiet place a couple of minutes away where we normally let the dogs out for a run. There was much less people there, too. Perfect.
I'd taken the Q2. I've always been interested in space, but never really got into the whole astrophotography thing. It seems to require a bunch of specialist equipment... and so, often when I am out I just point my camera up and leave it on a long exposure and hope for the best. Maybe one day I'll get around to doing it 'properly'.
As it turns out, I got lucky pointing aimlessly at the sky. As far as I'm aware I actually took a photo of a part of the milkyway. This is hands down the best attempt at taking a photo of the night sky I've ever had and has spurred me on to try and get something better. Not bad for leaving the camera on its back on the roof of the car for 8 seconds!
