Patreon Previews Vs. Releases

TL;DR – Do you like to see works in production BEFORE the final release sent as updates here on Patreon OR would you like to WAIT for the final version to come out?

-----------------------

I often have a hard time deciding if I should release content sometime early here on Patreon as a preview or not. I'll explain, but if you will take but a second to vote you can help guide my hand like in the past and is greatly appreciated!

I see this as a double edged sword…
- Getting work out to people is great to do and make sure people are getting content ASAP.   - But something is lost after the first moments seeing any content. It loses it's magic after a the first time.

It's like telling a good joke – once you've heard it, it doesn't hit as hard the second or third time to the same people.

For high quality content it takes time. I know the nature of my work, but I still take pride in it and bad artwork is a shame and a waste of time if done poorly or not given the proper attention. While I've gotten faster over the last few months and refined my work flow and pipeline much more it still takes BIG time to get content out.

Inside Discord I post the outline previews, sketches and ideas I'm happy with (inside the WIP section if you are curious). This material is actively been worked on and will be released hopefully soon but I also hide it behind a spoiler tag and so can keep it from being ruined if you want to not see it – it's somewhat ideal for that and I like it.

But on Patreon it goes out to everybody regardless of what people want to see. Sure you can ignore the message knowing it isn't a completed piece of content but thias also works into another issue....

I also am quite aware bothering people all the time with spam like massages all the time is quite annoying and try not to do any of that – which this somewhat goes against the grain on. But yet you are also supporting me and I want to give back for your support also. Its a hard thing to decide on.

Sometimes I try and squeeze content out before a last moment date and so will do that so people hopefully see it in case time is a factor and has a deliberate purpose for being exposed and shown in its current form.

But for the bulk of content I am often unsure what and how people feel. I often like to only release it 'LIVE!' when it is done or very mostly done.... but maybe you all would like to be told more what's going on? What's been worked on, even if I feel it spoils the final impression you have of it?

I can / will mark these Patreon messages as 'LIVE' for 100% done, uploaded on the rewards website material to download AND 'WIP' to show its a work in progress, incomplete but being worked on and the image for the moment on Patreon (if we decide to go ahead with this or not).

So I ask you – is it better to WAIT for the content or have it appear EARLY and stage by stage?

-----------------------

Thanks for taking the time to vote - hopefully it'll give me a better idea what people would like and I can offer a better service towards you. Thank you all again and content to come out soon (LIVE or WIP aside ^_^).
