Interlude Poll September #2 & Player locations and hints
Added 2024-09-06 01:18:26 +0000 UTCOkay, the results flip-flopped multiple times, but it's currently looking like it's another Player. I'll try to do an extra Interlude this month for the people who voted for an existing character, and if not we'll return to them next month for sure.
I'll put reminders of where the players were sent to as well below, including the hints that have been revealed of where they were sent to/what they're dealing with. I was going to stay cryptic, but some of these were revealed 200k+ words ago. Others are from the most recent Interlude though, so read no further if you haven't read that and don't want spoilers.
!!WEEWOO WEEWOO!! I'm calling an audible and opening this up to all members for this month only! After writing out what the Players are up to, I thought it would be good to have this post available as a reference. If you are on the $5 tier there are going to be a number of spoilers for Cici's Interlude in the below descriptions. Not the plot of the Interlude or what she's up to, but if you are a hardcore purist, do not read any further! !!WEEWOO WEEWOO!!
Nasim aka Tor Knudson: Sent to wherever the Mayans disappeared to. Was the second rotating GM of the group and worked with Alan to read through the original rules of 'Love Fight'. Likely crippled by what at the time was a humorous number of Starting Complications. Was a mostly non-practicing Muslim who didn't drink and is now a barely-functional alcoholic. Other Complications include but are not limited to: An evil stepmother, an evil stepsister, an evil blood sister, and an illiterate Welsh bare-knuckled fighter who is eternally seeking vengeance against him.
Victor: Presumed to be in Annie's hometown of Crucifixion, Missouri at St. Christopher's College. Famous for building himself-but-a-wizard in every game he played. Did almost no research or preparation when making his character. Did not read any of the hints about the Crossroads of Destiny, as it was called in the pamphlet the Players were given.
Genevieve (formerly Davis): Sent to a suburb of London. Built a, notably, French ballerina and spy, despite what Alan remembers. Was recently revealed to be in the same Order as Paul Occam's family. Took second place in both Popularity Polls. Is in contact with Cici's character, Omura Erina. Erina described her as living her best life.
Mars: Sent to Keletsnya, a remote country in Eastern/Central Europe, noted for its access to powerful black magic by Uncle Hou. A company from Keletsnya was blamed for the Flesh Puppet attack in retribution for losing the bid for the Kingfisher's location. Built a motorcycle riding shaman, and was meant to be one of the two healers in the Party. Is the girlfriend of Cat. They made twin sisters.
Cat: Sent to a Hidden City somewhere in the Himalayas. Built a doctor/traditional medicine practitioner and the twin of Mars. Erina described her as 'extremely passive', along the same lines as Victor. Since all of the hints about her were pretty layered and minor, all I will say is that powerful traditional medicine has been referenced quite a bit and at an increasing rate.
Comments
I voted for Cat thinking we'd get a Smoothie PoV. I feel deeply betrayed, and wronged.

2024-09-06 07:26:43 +0000 UTCI'm probably in the minority for saying so, but I think narratively Victor makes the most sense. It'll give us as the readers an intro to what we can expect for James' upcoming trip.

2024-09-06 06:12:09 +0000 UTCI feel like Genevieve is interesting as a plot hook because it connects existing story hooks we know of. I think another Annie interlude having a phone call with her mom would be a good way to plant seeds for the trip to her home town is.
