Whew, jumping around tasks a lot, but the page is ready to go up tomorrow for regular patrons!
As thanks for y'all's enthusastic patience, have some commentary:
Artist's Commentary
I don't have anything to say about the layout itself or the comic stuff therein this time around; you can probably discern why I did what I did cuz there's nothing super tricky going on here.
Instead I'm gonna talk a little bit about writing with lore and stuff!
One of the things I've been learning through Tamberlane is how to tell a lore-heavy story without it being heavy exposition drops all the time. (Okay, I guess it's not actually lore-heavy. Maybe more...lore-medium?) I am always looking for ways to squeeze tidbits and clues and whatnot into every space I can -- but it's also interesting how things fall entirely by the wayside in this process.
For example, though I've known the characters speak and read Growl, I haven't managed to drop that anywhere into the narrative yet. Even with this nod, one could assume "Ancient Growl" was a totally separate language (like "I had to brush up on my Latin") as opposed to an archaic version of the language they're already speaking.
Then of course I get to drop little tidbits like "the Great Razing myth." I know what that means, and what context it holds, but it's so fun to watch the audience speculate. I don't know if that will ever be explained explicitly, but context will be given later in the story, enough that you can probably guess.
There are so many little things about telling this story that it's like a huge puzzle full of tiny pieces, and I'm over here with my little hammer, making them work. But that's what storytelling is, really. Just finding ways to weave the pieces together to tell a coherent and hopefully compelling narrative!
Anyway, enjoy the page. Go Milo go, Infodump you beautiful bastard
