Hey patrons!
It’s Casey, coming at you with a little reflective post today. First of all, happy holidays. I hope each and every one of you has had a chance to kick back, relax and enjoy some (I’m sure much needed) downtime. I also hope that you’ve been able to reflect upon this past year with at least a small bit of ease and pride. Whether your year was tremendous, treacherous, or a little bit of both, you got through it. I personally had a very hectic year, but it was also one of the most incredible years I’ve ever had. I released two different albums with my friends and even went on my very first tour. The Fox and the Bird took Ok Goodnight around 3 years to write and put out into the world, and I am (and will always be) so proud of it. I cannot believe the way that this album connected with so many people, but I’m so glad it did because we put so much of ourselves into it. It took a long time to get right, and it was really tough to know when it was “finished” finished. Even then, I’ll always be critical of certain aspects of it, but that’s just the way that it goes anytime I put something out there for people to listen to. I am so in love with music, and the way that it's able to captivate us and bring us all together. I truly never imagined that I would listen to something that I wrote and be able to compare it to the music and artists that inspired me to write it. After the things I’ve gotten to share with the world this year, I can happily say that I can make that comparison. I have a loooot of work I still need to do and a lot of improvements I still want to make, but I feel even more excited about the new music we’re working on now. The Fox and the Bird taught me so much about myself and I became so invested in the characters we created; I wasn’t prepared for how emotional writing a concept album would be, but I think having been so invested in it is a sign that it was a good body of work made with a lot of love and care. And don’t even get me started with going on tour. It was just so insanely special to get to play live as a band again, and to meet Ok Goodnight listeners from all over the country. I sincerely can't wait to tour again and to meet even more awesome people. This band means the world to me and it wouldn’t be possible to go on tour or continue to invest more into the project if it weren’t for you guys. Yet another amazing part of this year was getting to launch this Patreon page. I’ve been so overjoyed getting to know you and share special content with you, and I can’t wait for next year. I'd love to end this post by asking you what your favorite part of your year was: Maybe it's something that helped you grow, a really great memory you made, or something you got through that you're proud of.
Thank you all so much for making this year so cool, and here’s to many more. I am eternally grateful for you.
