That obligatory moment where you gotta explain the basic rules of your magic card game. PAE used to have a system where summoners had magic barriers around them that their opponent needed to weaken in order to win (see the pilot). One day I tried mapping out what PAE would look like as a physical card game, and came up with this design where your offense and defense would come from the same pool, making for a high risk/ reward system where one move could be game changing if clever enough. The same could be possible for just bluffing. I decided to revamp the PAE system with that in mind as it was unique and WAY more interesting than what is essentially just turn based RPG combat.
