Syrup 2: Candy Alchemy RPG - early-early access!!!

and it's not quite over yet,
but it is ready to be played… 7/8 chapters!!! i always get stuck on chapter 8 of things don't i lol... this build should work for mac/windows/linux but let me know if it doesn't!!! i forgot to take out the custom icon, so your computer might think it's a virus or something... pls message me if you can't get it working and i can try to do tech support 💪
ALSO: if you played the 3.5 build before, i've attached patch notes below. (notion lets you export it all nice-looking and i wanted to keep the colors rather than paste it into boring patreon…) it's pretty long cuz i added a lot, but the main story leaves off in about the same place (sad!!! trying to finish more for the steam release)
here's a short list of what's not finished:
for toffee's story in nyapeta city, i only finished writing the first event, so you can't go back and see malt yet. very tragic, definitely going to be finishing that one soon because her art is already done anyway!
for the astrology hints, atelier sweets and the insterail are currently not able to be marked as complete, so if you have all the cards, don't worry you're not missing something
mince uses "hype" (from spooky soiree) as their theme, i want to write an original song for them but haven't been able to yet
[spoilers??] the art for the (optional) bad endings is unfinished, and the script might change later. i put a big "wip" label on the sketches so you know it's temporary haha
for the patrons this applies to: i put in the patron credits a couple weeks ago so if your name is missing, don't worry i'll add it next time... (thanks for your support!)
other than that, you can expect like 6 hours of entertainment out of this thing... the word count is ~65k, the biggest i've ever written!!! wowee!!!!!
if there are any major issues/bugs with this build, i will replace it with a new one here! if there are MINOR issues... i'll tack on a list to this post, so you can check back and see what's been reported. i think that will be useful. ((EDIT: the list is on my website!!! i fixed a few things, they were indeed pretty minor.))

yeahhh someone else reported the same thing... i think if you go inside the app folder and launch the one inside there it works...? i've never owned a mac so i'm not sure exactly, i think it might've been an issue with apple not allowing permissions or something x_x i hope you can get it working!

2025-10-15 17:27:46 +0000 UTCHaving trouble getting the pre-release to run on Mac. Examining the folders, it looks like the Windows and Linux files are there but the Mac files are just missing. The demo on steam works ok on Mac though.

2025-09-11 18:32:26 +0000 UTCyou can get chewed gum by using tearmint gum in battle! i probably need to make a note of that somewhere though, because you're not the first to mention this... i didn't intend for all the party members to have the bond system attached since treat and thyme were more like optional side characters, but i think at this point it definitely feels more strange that they don't have it. since i'm writing scenes for them anyway, i might as well... this is good feedback, thank you so much!

2025-09-11 05:13:04 +0000 UTCjust played through this in one extremely long sitting and loved every minute of it a few notes i have however are: -it seems like you can only get two gum in the entire game with no way to get any more. this means if you ever sell one, you are locked out of 100% completion. i sold the first one you get on accident at the start of the game and gave the second to moxie, meaning i cant craft the recipe that uses the gum unless if i replay the entire game from the beginning. it feels like there should be an additional way to get gum to get you out of this scenario (like. having foraging in nyapeta be permanently available would probably be the most obvious option for what to do there) -more of a question, will treat and/or thyme have the bond system and scenes relating to it added to them later in development? i was kind of disappointed to see treat somewhat sidelined after unlocking her compared to the first four party members. i really like her in her own game and was somewhat looking forward to seeing a little more about her, and especially seeing more about her relationship with syrup specifically, until i noticed that the bond system did not apply to her, and that she did not have nearly as many scenes as other characters in comparison. (i was also somewhat disappointed that thyme did not have the bond system either, however seeing treat lack it first made it less surprising)
