Thanks so much for tuning in guys. The last case is very hard to watch, but if you can get through it, please share your thoughts on it x

Police Interrogations - 5 *Viewer Discretion Advised*

Why is it that we expect medical professionals to carry malpractice insurance, sometimes paying six figures a year for it? Why do we expect nurses to deescalate and stabilize the most violent criminals and delusional folks without harming them? And yet we have no expectation that LEO be held responsible in any way, answer to anyone except themselves, or pay from their own budget for their mistakes? I've worked in law enforcement (911 operator/dispatcher) and I can tell you what they would say in this case: that is was a tragic accident, that the officer isn't a doctor and can't be expected to make medical diagnoses, and that they suffered the worst impacts of this so they don't want to hear about it. At no point would they address the violations of protocol, or that it was their responsibility to consult the experts (healthcare in this case). America moves into progressively more dangerous territory, the more these organizations are militarized and held blameless.

Cat Warren

How that damn police officer cannot see that Ryan needs help, urgently, is beyond me. The man can't even say what grade he finished in high school.

Tayla R

I rarely cry with any true crime videos, but the last one with Ryan really got to me as well. I had to skip a lot of the interview. Really hard to watch, then finding out he later passed away sent me over the edge. I feel so bad for him and his family. I wish there was something I could do. Truly horrible, everything that happened. 💔

omg i was not mentally prepared for what i just watched. i love true crime stuff and i usually eat it up without getting too emotionally invested but that last one with the guy ryan really just upset me. that's absolutely horrible, i had to keep stopping and taking breaks because i understood what was happening and i had already read some of the comments before watching so i knew where it was going and it was making me so angry. im actually having a hard time finding the words to express how i feel about it, and to actually have to walk away from it a few times is something ive never experienced from any crime related video. i hated every second of it.

so damn infuriating and heartbreaking. shame on that detective

daniel j

What the fuck?!?!? How can you see someone acting like that and NOT put two and two together…….. I wonder if he was taken to the ambulance at the moment police arrived, how much mental ability would have been sustained/if they could’ve done anything about his eyesight. Horrible. I can’t imagine how terrible the parents feel, I pray for them. He was so handsome too

11:34

Despicable actions by the police who did that to Ryan. What a bunch of idiots...

This one hit so close to home that it’s terrifying. I don’t know what the future has to hold but GOD DAMN! That last situation was handled so improperly that I truly feel for all the victims families. Completely a f*cked up scenario. I hope they are finding some sort of peace and love for life again. That shit broke my heart.

poison the world

I'm furious over Ryan Waller's treatment. My condolences to the family. Beautiful young man's life wasted by incompetent fools.

The last case really is hard to watch. After hearing the family wouldn't file a lawsuit, I broke down in tears. I'd been imagining the settlement Brian or his family would receive, and it's just heart wrenching to hear that after watching the same footage we have, his family didn't want anything but their son. It's just so sad.

why is the video unavailable

That last case is both disgusting and heartbreaking. The absolute negligence shown by the officer is beyond frustrating to watch. It is blatantly obvious that this person is suffering from multiple injuries just by looking at him, not to mention that he is unable to focus or even answer a simple question without extreme difficulty. It is also worth noting that prior to this interrogation, he was arrested at his home and placed in the back of a cop car for almost 6 hours while the police conducted their investigation at the home. So even before this interview started, they had wasted the most important hours of this mans life. This officer was so focused on incriminating this man that he literally ignored undeniably obvious signs of brain damage, not to mention that he also ignored a literal bullet hole in his face and black bruises circling his eyes. It’s utterly heartbreaking to see his confusion and state of mind during this - I cannot even imagine how his parents feel. If I were them, I absolutely would have pressed charges.

The last care was painful to watch, especially as a first responder. I was thinking about what I’d do if I came across a patient that showed what I’d figure to be obvious signs of head trauma. The detective picked up on the pattern of his answers almost immediately, seen raccoon eyes and acknowledges the bullet wound almost immediately. Had that been any other profession and the professional would have dealt with consequences due to neglect. I wish they were also held to that standard. May all the victims in these cases rest peacefully.

"conducted an internal review and no disciplinary action was taken." Why is the system this messed up?

That was tough to watch, seeing him trapped there for so long, no medical help, being shot in the head, he was literally explaining exactly what had happened.

I have never been so uncomfortable watching a video in my life. That poor kid. That detective should be punished

That detective is so bad at his job that he didn't realize the man that he was interrogating and sitting a foot away from had been shot in the face two times and was suffering from brain damage. It took him nearly an hour to realize that. Amazingly incompetent and he got to keep his job without punishment. That's police for you

The YouTube channel This is Monsters, has all the latest news and interviews Ryan's dad.

Marina

Ryan’s story just drives me crazy. As a nurse it is obvious he has a brain injury. I watched the This is Monsters video update with Ryan’s dad. It’s so heartbreaking. He actually was not a roommate of Richie’s he just lived there after Richie. The family never sued but they should have. That enforces change in behavior and holds police accountable. This was the worst negligence ever. His one eye may have been saved and the brain damage not as severe. He seems like a really cool kid. Just wish those monsters had not shot him and heather. That baby though. Poor little guy.

It is disturbing how inept many in law enforcement are. These people have tremendous power and we should expect better from them.

Out of all the videos this one to me was the most disturbing personally…. Ryan is clearly altered and the cop has absolutely no regard for him or his health until he realizes an hour later…. Who would even trust that cop to do the job??? The fact none of the cops were charged is an absolute disgrace. He died bc of their negligence. I wish the parents had sued…

this was really difficult to watch :(

Cops are shown a brief clip from Doogie Howser as their medical training.

This is so infuriating, the cops are so blinded trying to get a conviction they can't see the f**king hole through his nose and that he's completely disoriented! You would think some of the cops would have some sort of basic medical training, who would be able to understand symptoms of a brain trauma. RIP Ryan u were completely mistreated :(

I’m not going to lie its probably the hardest one for me

Mark Chandler

This is the only video I cannot get through

Omg ryan. I don’t even know what to say. Other than i wonder if he might have lived longer or made some kind of recovery if he was treated immediately and I can’t believe no disciplinary action was taken, i hope that cop hates himself, both he and the PO’s who kept him detained in a car for that long deserve so much worse

First video of your's I couldn't finish. That last interrogation was just too upsetting for me to watch.

If it was a murder suicide, wasn't the lack of a gun some sort of giveaway? What about a gunshot residue test? Did one of the murderers leave their gun on the scene?

Man, that last one was heartbreaking

Why would a father help his son participate in such a thing, surely one of them would have advised against that course of action?

Poor child, breaks my heart.

they knew they would not investigate or discipline and just dip into the yearly reserve funds for settlements. that's why refusing to file a lawsuit is a bigger sting to them.

45 minutes with this clown...kid was left blind

"the Phoenix Police Department conducted an internal investigation...no disciplinary action has been taken." well what do you expect, that's like making them the judge, jury and executioner. literally the meme "your Honor, I have investigated myself and found that I did nothing wrong."

it's cops, what do you expect. they can literally extrajudicially execute children and they'll just get a slap on the wrist.

I would have never believed the tale of Ryan’s interrogation had I not seen it, and even watching it, it’s hard to believe what’s happening. It’s unbelievable that no one got fired or even reprimanded, at the very least.

Lindsay abercrombie

it agitated me how he responded to 90% of their questions with "I don't know" & mentioned himself getting shot MULITPLE TIMES in his recount of the story & the interrogator took 40 some odd minutes to finally take a more paternal role & call the boy some help. he'd have seriously benefited from the police investigating the scene INCLUDING himself instead of viewing him as the one who had caused the scene. and those 2 culprits ruined far more than 2 lives in the course of their "revenge spree"

I first watched this interrogation on Explore With Us and he presents it without explaining what happened to Ryan, letting you decide if he's drunk, drugged, crazy or whatever other judgement you might think. It didn't take me long to be very uncomfortable and wonder what was going on with him. I found out about the shooting a minute after the detective examines him and I had spent about twenty minutes yelling at the screen for the poor boy to be taken to the hospital.

Sounds like every police failure and crime I've ever heard, minus the kudos from the police chief for how great a job they did

Killed two people for less than 300.

Jose Ziggler

“We have investigated ourselves and found we have done nothing wrong” It’s insane that those cops weren’t fired.

Screw every single cop who saw the guy in the last vid and didn't get him immediate help. I get that he was a suspect at that point but even suspects deserve medical care before they are interrogated if they have obvious injuries. All you have to do is listen to the way he was speaking to know he had suffered serious head trauma. I wish he had sued that entire police department for everything they're worth.

grits

The final case has infuriated me. I'm appalled that the officers involved weren't fired, not even getting his injuries checked before interrogation, then smugly telling him his story's not making sense while he sits there with a hole in his face . That poor boy.

That second clip really makes me angry. I hope he got a big big check for the way the police handled him. He sat there for over 45 minutes before the detective even considered just looking at the injuries... Seriously, him and the officers that took this kid to the station and not the hospital need to be fired (haven't finished the video yet, so don't know if anything happens, but it really makes me angry).

Dude has a hole in his nose, it doesn't make sense.

yeah, feel sick watching it. Awful.

Make a movie of this kids final days.

how come the doctor didn't check ryan waller before the interrogations ? unbelievable that the detective didn't notice anything, the police should be held responsable. This is so heartbreaking.

nizoubizou

It's easy to blame the interrogator because he's a fucking idiot. He's sitting there interviewing a man with two bullet holes in his face and only realizes almost an hour in that he might have suffered some head trauma. Not only is that being utterly incompetent at your job, that is also a shocking level of stupidity just in general. The average person off the street could've recognized there was something wrong a lot sooner.

Ryan Waller's story is truly tragic. I know it's easy to be on the sidelines and judge people actions without scrutiny but it is extremely frustrating to see the detective questioning Ryan without seeing the severity of his injuries. I get it that they have crazies and drug addicts all the time displaying similar symptoms, but it doesn't take an expert to see that the poor kid has some serious injuries that should have tipped them off to it not just being a beat down. Did anyone else notice that he doesn't have any blood on him? He may have cleaned himself off in a daze when he was at the house, but most likely they cleaned him off in order to take the booking photos/fingerprints. Still no one thought to bring it to a superior's/medical attention. A lot of simple and avoidable mistakes were made in this case and I hope that this detective understands that he inanvertantly took precious years of Ryan's life in the process. I hope that the Quan family and the Waller family find peace somehow and that the two carver men die alone in prison.

Oh my gosh this story about Ryan its heartbreaking there are just no words my heart and prayers go out to him and his family 💔 🙏 😢 💙

Samantha Busch

The people who shot the kid are worse, the people who rape and murder children are worse

How the hell do you look at Ryan and not take him to the straight to the hospital?

Joanna Lind

Shit like this makes makes me hate "law enforcement". May God punish those cops, its absolutely ridiculous that he wasn't taken to the hospital. Hell they even drag half-beaten pedophiles to the hospital before they get booked, why wasn't he checked out? Never talk to the police, always get a lawyer, no matter what. And remember the police aren't protectors, they're enforcers. You're just collateral. You'd think no one would be so stupid as to not recognize that he's practically dying; but I guess that's what happens when you let anyone with a high-school diploma and a few training courses become a cop.

"I'm not in to formal titles you can call me Lisa. What do people normally call you?" Imagine he said "BryBry" or some shit instead of Brian. Edit: Also that last case... god damn. Hard to get through is right.

Robob27

I want to scream at the idiot detective in the last one, he should be helping Ryan. That man needs to be in the hospital. Not subjected to interrogation.

man, imagine you and your girlfriend got shot in the face, you miraculously survive and then you get questioned for her murder just because the detective wants a quick conviction.

I don't think I've ever been as pissed of as the last segment. I wanted to fucking scream at the dude

This fucking interrogator (the last one) the whole time I'm just thinking what a POS how did the guy never even got a med check up

This one bothered me a lot.

Thank you for bringing these important details to people’s attention. Hopefully a new investigation will get started if this gets the right persons attention! Don Waller (Ryan’s Father)

Felt terrible watching the last one. Internal investigation.. what a joke

ahh that last one is so sad to watch i had to skim thru. RIP ryan

he was shot twice in the face .. . gd this is hard to watch

seraf

Every second that went by with out any medical help for Ryan had me furious!!

How does this man go about calling himself a detective? How did he not clue in on his injuries a whole 44 minutes into an interrogation? This is total negligence.

Did he did pass away?

Well keep in mind that several people had probably taken care of him before, so the detective likely figured that his status was ok. I'm not defending the guy, but the worst were the ones on scene that didn't give him medical attention directly. Definetily should've noticed earlier though.

It is easy to blame the interrogator but how many people looked at Ryan not finding it neccesary to give him medical attention before he was questioned by the detective shown in the video ?

Hindsight is not 20/20 this is an absurd take, you always have injuries treated especially if they are head injuries as they can still cause long term damage. This was a gross display of negligence on the cops part, especially with how he was acting.

What a tragic story. It's easy to blame the cop but consider that cops deal with liars, drug addicts, and crazy people all the time. Hindsight is 20/20. The real travesty is that he wasn't diagnosed and treated when they found him at the scene and instead, he sat in the back of a squad car for 6 hours.

I’m so sad now 😢

I have no words. Just tears for this man. This should never have happened. I pray he rests easy.

I just had to skip through the interview bc i just wanted to see him finally get help. so painful and disturbing.

Ibk

"They are ALL horrible, depraved people." I guess you haven't watched any of the other videos.

this is absolutely infuriating to watch. how can the cop talk to him in the state that he's in and not realize something's wrong

This shit right here is why cops should all be sent to the center of the Sun. They are ALL horrible, depraved people.

Just so people are aware Ryan did not lose his eyesight in BOTH eyes he only lost his left eye, this information was given by Ryan's father.

Bradford Jane

but muh promotion REEEEEEEEEE think about the cops career lmfao

I really hope that detective on the last interrogation would have to go through the pain he caused that kid. He shouldn't be a detective or in any position of power for that matter.

Lol this shit can't be reformed. Cops have no constitutional responsibility to protect you from harm (Warren v. DC, Winnebago & Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzalez) and increased funding will do and has done exactly jack shit to change that. Remember "defund the police" was the compromise. Abolish.

i have sat through most of these episodes from rape to torture and not ever had to pause an interview halfway because i felt so terrible to think he survived something so traumatic held onto his life with all his strength to have it pissed away in a police interview room is so so sad at 18 as well over something so stupid i hope those gutter rats rot in hell

Wow I know the cop didn’t do it but he should have had some sort of punishment for doing that . If he didn’t keep him in that room for almost an hour he probably would of lived longer

"Did you and Heather have a relationship?" "Not after the shooting" Such a tragic story... But that one response...

Not if they want to pin it on you.

this is so awful, I have no words

That was so bad. Watching a person with obvious injuries be denied medical help for 7 hours by the police that led to his death. The way he was talking, the situation, the way he looked all should have caused people to think deeper. That is so horrible, wish the family would have applied pressure to get some people held accountable for those actions..

Nauseating. And this guy is a "detective"? Aren't two of the most important traits of a detective being observant and having intuition? If he's a detective then God help his precinct.

Man that makes me sick to my stomach

No disciplinary action AT ALL in reference to the last video?1??? You've got to be kidding me! I can't believe all that poor kid went through and only to die not that long afterwards... how heartbreaking!! I think the family should have sued anyhow to prove a point, get justice, and hopefully creating a program to provide more training so one would know when one would need medical care (as if this case weren't obvious enough though). They could have donated whatever proceeds they had received to a charity that was close to Ryan's heart. Ugg, how heatbreaking!!

That detective thought he was on CSI miami...”...what happened to heather...

Campbell Gilliland

Did they find a gun at Ryan’s house? Did they not know heather was shot?? Why would they think he did anything and how could they not see bullet wounds

Campbell Gilliland

Wanted to bring this to everyone's attention: youtube.com/watch?v=YydjUakOxiU The two in the video are Mark Ryan and Don Waller, singing a song to their lost loved one, Ryan Waller. In another video (youtube.com/watch?v=z7cxWhDB_M4) the top pinned post was from the account, the post states that the family had a suit filed for $15million dollars, against the city of Phoenix, but it was dismissed by a scummy judge who interestingly retired a short time after dismissing the case. The claim was that the 6 hours and the interrigation DID NOT negatively affect Ryan Waller's condition. This was on one Doctors recommendation, I sent this to the doctor we know in South Australia, my sister has brain damage from a tumor and he is her doctor, he was like "no way", getting ANY kind of major trauma involving swelling, internal bleeding or any sort of skull fracture or fragmentation must be treated ASAP, every single second counts exactly as was said in this video. The city of Phoenix it seems is SUPER Corrupt and sadly the judge retired so he is untouchable... The case can't be refiled and the "doctor" was undisclosed, on top of that Don Waller spent $10k of his own money to get a proper doctor for the trial. Whole thing gets more and mroe disgusting and sad. Peole out there are complaining about what celebrity is wearing what on some damn catwalk while peoel get hurt and killed with no recourse. Every day without justice for Ryan Waller is a stain on the City of Phoenix,. the current administartation would probably say some shit about it being "the old administration" Screw that, if you want to clean this stain, CLEAN IT NOW! Okay i need to calm down, just so angry. PS: In a civil suit, you can claim any amount of damages, so $15million was just the amount they filed it at, we have NO idea how much they would have won if corruption didn't stop it going forward, and the amount could have been higher or lower, for more info, well, look up Legal Eagle, he discusses how you can ask for any amount, like with Dominion asking Mike Lindell for 1 billion dollars, they can file it that high, nothing to say they will get it.

Munchman

Don't they usually try to protect people who've been through a tragic event?

Watching Ryan's interrogation broke my heart. Detective Dalton should be ashamed of himself.

literally did the same exact thing. horrible stuff man

That one hurt

Those cops needs to be in JAIL

That video is the only one I had to skip after your briefing and seeing the poor guy just sit there handcuffing himself. Too heartbreaking. And Ive watched alot of this kind of stuff. Keep them coming <3

Jeez, dude. If you come across a human with that level of injury on their head, you get them medical help. Immediately. Ryan was done wrong.

There’s absolutely zero excuse for all of the officers involved here. The interrogator should have been on that immediately. I really don’t feel like he was taken aback out of concern for Ryan’s injuries, but more so that he knew he had fucked up royally by not recognizing the injuries sooner and had to cover his own ass.

I think a lot of the blame has to go to the officers that arrested Ryan in the first place, they should not have booked him, they should have had him checked out. The guy interrogating him should have looked at his injuries closer way sooner but at least he did do something to get him help when he finally did notice and he did seem genuinely taken aback and concerned when he realised the extent of the injuries. He was probably pissed he had been sent in to interrogate someone who was in that condition.

Nichole Hutchison

I don't think most people's problem is that there are some bad cops, that is inevitable unfortunatelly, but that whenever these bad cops' actions are revealed there is very little accountability taken from the police department. A lot of the time these bad cops don't face any consequences for their actions and they almost never get fired, even for the worst offences. When these bad officers are let to continue working as usual after these events and are protected just as much as the good officers, it's very hard to see the police as a whole working to be better and put the interests of their comunities first. There will always be a few bad apples, but if they aren't removed they will rot the entire apple crate (To paraphrase John Oliver)

Andrei

It wouldn't surprise me if the officers think "I was just doing my job" and shifting the blame around till it's inconsequential. No policy changes, no new training for officers responding to wellness calls or automatic ambulance dispatch to these calls, no personal responsability on the part of the officers that interacted with him, just a collective "I was doing my job" from everyone involved and a kid with permanent brain damage who had to suffer for his final few years of life.

Andrei

Charge that detective with negligent homicide, or perhaps homicidal stupidity.

No disciplinary action was taken. How shocking. fuck that detective

Wow that last one man, what the fuck. A blind person would be able to tell something was wrong with him just by the way hes talking but then add the fucking hole in his nose and the other facial injuries... damn man Rest in Peace to Ryan and Heather.

I had my nose broken and exactly looked like that + his erratic behavior looked like a typical mob attitude. It's still hard to watch, life is not fair is it?

Dumbest fucking cop ever

Man, what the fuck. It took them almost 40 minutes to call the medics and take a look. That is fucked up, like, really fucked up

The police don’t care about our safety or well being

Don Lemonparty

Pathetic mother fuckers.

Wow.. Having a close call with severe brain damage myself, the circumstances of the last story are simply terrifying.

Lingo

I had to skip the last story... unbelievable

6 hours in a police cruiser and 45 minutes into the interrogation before the investigator even looks at his wounds, unbelievable negligence with tragic consequences. I want to know how those involved look at their actions in hindsight and what they are doing now to prevent this again, if they even feel responsible for any wrongdoing.

Damn parents should have sued

Supdude

The entire police that day were despicable. Ryan needed immediate medical attention. No disciplinary action taken??

This has to be the most fascinating content of all time. The ending gave me chills.

jonnyboy162

"She got shot in the face and you let her sleep?!" Says the guy who fails to get medical attention for a guy after being shot in the face. I have zero idea how anyone can do a wellness check find a person dead on the floor in a bloody scene and another looking like ryan on the ground and NOT take that person to the hospital. I mean cops handcuff actual criminals to hospital beds all the time? Why did this happen besides being evil?

Brandon Fayko

It’s mind bogging that he did not realize somewith was wrong, nor even look at his injuries even after Ryan said he was shot in the face. Took him an hour to realize there’s a hole in his face?

Infuriating how did the detective not realize immediately some was seriously wrong/off with Ryan? It took him the entire 50 minute interrogations to even take a look at his injuries. He didn’t think n to take a glance at his black eye after Ryan told him he was shot in the eye??? WTF

What a tremendous tragedy. Breaks my heart to watch, and you can't help but wonder what would have happened if he got medical attention sooner.. I hope police funding increases, so that they implement the necessary training to prevent something like this ever happening again.

Went through the exact same thought process. Just renewed, got to this episode, realized the guy was going to be interrogated and left.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. That last video makes me want to fucking snap. Somebody launch that useless asshole cop into a concrete block at 100 km hr

sad.

Came back to rewatch old JCS vids because, well, I'm sure you guys understand. But yeah, as soon as I remembered what the Waller casa entailed I had to dip. I watched the whole thing once before and I just don't have the heart to watch it again, especially knowing what ultimately became of the guy. That shit is fucking tragic and my blood boils just thinking of the idiot interrogating the poor soul.

Andrew Becker

That shit fucked me up.

typical....

"no disciplinary actions were taken" are you fucking kidding

Wow the waller case, heartbreaking.

The Ryan Waller footage is infuriating. Police were straight up torturing him by continuing to question him while his head gunshot wound continued to deteriorate the functions of his brain and eyes. I cannot believe the family did not file a lawsuit! Ugh, it just enrages me that no one had to pay for the needless suffering and death the police perpetuated on this poor guy.

Erin BP

...?

fuck the police!!!!! i feel its justified in this case. Morons cant tell if a guys been shot.... I could, and i don't carry a gun

why is the background of the second interrogation a green screen???

You should get out more.

Holy shit, is this detective stupid. The guy has 2 headshots and he can't leave "until he tells the truth". God damnit.

Serve and protect 🤮

Your comments are so absurd that I can't believe you really hit the post button after writing them. Most cops are normal people who face off with the worst of society on a day to day basis. You truly are ignorant in every sense of the word. The funny thing is, you'll complain and bitch about them non stop, but you wouldn't last a week doing their job. I bet you're one of those people that cry and whine non-stop every single time someone demeans a whole group of people because of the actions of a few. Then you turn right around and do the same exact thing. You really should educate yourself and get some perspective before posting shit comments like that and exposing yourself front of everyone.

Aaron Coleman

You are just trying to sound smart by playing with words. When someone says that someone is unable or incapable of feeling anything.. it usually means they can kill you and sleep well at night.. They lack the ability to feel shame or guilt or are not affected by emotional as supposed to an average person. Your sciencetific question are more valid... perhaps people that go into careers are drawn to it because their psychological profile is suited to this job or the job functions numbs them to the point that you could sit in front of them for hours with your face blown off and their emotional delay to feel human suffering is unable to grasp the gravity of another human suffering.. Hope I answered your questions if i is the truth you seek but if you are playing games with words to put me down then you have only shown yourself... Cheers..

'A lot of cops' are like that? Maybe you're right, I don't know. However that's quite an accusation, so I would like to know what you're basing that on, and does it apply to all cops everywhere and how did you reach this conclusion in a factual and scientific manner? Although if you really mean that they lack the 'inability to feel anything' you're saying that they have little or no ability not to feel 'anything' and actually feel a lot so I don't quite understand what you're getting at....

Alot of cops lack empathy and inability to feel anything. They are slow to feel another human being suffering. They care about getting promoted and being recognized and would sale their soul to the devil just to get to this end.

I hope that cop dreams of Ryan’s shot up face every single night for the rest of his entire life.

I have to be honest with the last one I kinda feel for the cop interviewing him as well as Ryan. You can clearly see by his face he's starting to realise something in the process has gone quite wrong, and that kid shouldn't be sitting in front of him with the injuries he's sustained. It shouldn't of even got to the interview interrogation stage, not yet. He should've been put straight into an ambulance at the crime scene. I could be wrong but I don't actually think it was the cop who was interviewing him who got him in that room.

Andrew Harris

I don't understand how a community or a police department can look at the torture of that boy and not try to figure out a way to make sure that never happens again.

People who cannot look at each case individually and instead allow frustrations, presumptions and insight from previous cases sway their judgement should not be allowed to interrogate cases of this nature, if any at all. There are games that people play with investigators, but a young man was perpetually losing context infront of him with head injuries. That along side his childish and desperate compliance was just harrowing to watch. If only the officer had a sliver of authenticity in his role, who knows of the poor guy could have gotten help.

omg the guy scoffing at him being shot in the eye when he literally was wtf. took him 50 minutes to realize wtf.

R

That was horrible to watch, but enthralling. Apparently the Waller's have filed a 15 million dollar lawsuit though but the defense for the department filed a motion to dismiss for some reason. The family commented on one of the interrogation youtube videos. I think amber something or other

Guy takes a few rounds to the face, and no medical attention? Even without the obvious wounds, they didn't pick up something was seriously wrong here talking with him? Wow, Phoenix PD for the last 20 years has been a complete joke. I dont know.. You don't seem to know a lot. Yeah clown , TBI's will do that. Unbelievable, starts getting pissed because he didn't call 911. This dude should have been fired and charged.

My jaw actually dropped as the last segment of interrogation footage opened. I can hardly believe what I just saw, but you were right about one thing: it was difficult to watch. Thank you for bearing witness and for telling Ryan's (tragic, unthinkable) story.

i really don't get emotional very often but this... man I lost it. I couldn't even watch the interview it was like watching literal torture. I was so eager to fast forward to a happy ending but MAN was i in for it. If the boy suffering and later DYING wasn't enough on my heart, to hear what the family said at the end. I can literally feel my heart crying :(

Vaylen Virgo

RIP

the poor, poor boy in the last clip. that was by far the MOST frustrating interrogation to watch. that cop was such a dumbass along with the dumbass cops that arrested him.

This is... so unbelievably difficult to watch. It's sad, infuriating, baffling... HOW could any officer worth his grit not realize when they're dealing with someone who is having some wide array of issues that prevents them from communicating and thinking appropriately? Like, even when a suspect is under the influence, they know to put them in a cell to sleep it off before talking to them! This kid is CLEARLY having very serious neurological problems with the answers he's providing, not to mention his face ALONE shows he needs medical attention he never got. There is a HOLE in the kids face, for christ's sake! I really don't think I can finish watching, this is truly disgusting and heartbreaking.

Why the merry fuck was that poor kid not given medical attention when it was bloody obvious he had been shot in his head?! I swear, things like this are why police in the US are viewed the world over as brainless thugs. I hope any "officer" involved with that arrest and interrogation were fired and prosecuted. It's just heartbreaking to watch that poor kid slowly dying while he's questioned repeatedly instead of being given medical attention. I'm in tears here.

I never understood the point of the miranda rights at the beginning of this. He established that the suspect did not understand his rights and was totally incompetant to excercise or waive them. Well done detective! You may now proceed with the interrogation. smdh

"I just want to go to sleep" Fuck. :(

I FUCKING LOST IT AT 47:50 INTO THE INTERROGATION THE GUY SAYS. “Hmm looks like you might have a head injury”

Wow the one where they think the victim killed his gf and are literally losing him as he suffers brain damage. I would love a follow up on this case to know what happened to the dogshit detective

A lawsuit won't bring back their son, but it could potentially stop the same thing from happening to someone else's son, especially seeing how their internal investigation lead to absolutely nothing happening.

Sara Filion

Those cops should have been charged with attempted murder/ murder for not getting that kid help. Absolutely bizarrely messed up. Then wonder why no one likes the cops.

The cop should've known better, fuck just look at the guys face and the way he was talking and the way he was acting and it took him almost 50 min to even consider getting a Dr.....The cops that arrested him should've been charged and they were 1st on scene but that doesn't let the detective off the hook, IMO. Feel so bad for the family

So sad! I bet the cop felt like crap after that. Can understand his position.. But man. Why not get him the medic first? :(

That last one... what a disgrace

this is incredible. how infuriating. how's it possible this poor guy didn't get medical attention before being interrogated like this. and why didn't the detective have the brains to figure out he was obviously suffering from brain damage

So sad! How could they not get it checked, even if he was jus "beaten"?

Fuck this one got me.

They did, city dismissed it.

They did sue, the city dismissed it.

Omg I have not paused one video ever watching JCS. Not with the guy with his jaw blown off, the numerous baby killers etc but this poor guy being interviewed with bone and a bullet in his brain is so hard I had to stop and just look down and be quiet...it's so brutal.

officer should be fired for such negligence. its boiling my blood as i watch this heartbreaking event unfold

Ryan deserved better. I hope the officer remembers everyday what he did.

Wow. Wow... that last case is absolutely heartbreaking. I work in medicine, so may be biased, but Jesus Christ. He clearly sustained significant head trauma. That interview is infuriating at very least.

Reprimanded? Fired. I dont think charged, but for sure fired.

I didnt even think of that... god you are so right!

I can tell you, I have one child, and in all honesty, I've been frustrated enough b4 where I thought about throwing a baby across the room (crying and lack of sleep are amazing at building frustration) but to actually do it is astounding! I promise 75% of caretakers have had those moments of frustration, but there is a reason 0.1% ever act on it... because acting on it is Fucking ridiculous... reason he deserved more like 25 years, not 8.

I don't know if he had been taken to the hospital directly woulda changed anything... I suspect it would have... pressure building, eyesight and what not. But every time that detective told him to get his feet off his table. Oh my god I was so angry! And of course no disciplinary actions. The police protect their own. No matter what. Gross incompetence to this degree almost rises to the level of george floyd or all the other police murders. I truly believe that police mistreat and kill black people at a tragic rate, but this just goes to show, it might not completely be racist cops, whenever the people being investigated are so closely tied with the investigators (D.A. office, the other cops!) It cannot be trusted to be fair. More proof that an independent federal body needs to be in charge of investigate and charge police misconduct cases... such an obvious conflict, how is this not the case??? Amazing that the case before it involved a murdered toddler, yet all the outrage is towards the Phoenix police and sgt. Bonehead. (I cant argue. I'm pissed. Cant believe this didnt get more publicity!) Anorher poster said it, sorry I cant give u credit, but you are right, a lawsuit may have helped improve things. Wish family had filed

I just finished the last part. Wow. My heart aches for the poor guy. I understand that the police officers on the scene would have been suspicious of the way the girl was murdered but to not administer first aid at the very least is just negligence in my opinion. My father-in-law was a law enforcement officer for a number of years and he had mentioned to me in a couple of occasions that there are protocols and policies in place to prevent such a tragedy from occurring but sometimes officers may not follow the protocol correctly. The first thing any suspect should have been given is medical attention if they appear to be injured in any way. It's a shame that this didn't happen for Ryan.

i’m a pretty emotional person but i don’t usually get extremely upset during any case really. however the last one had me in tears.

I thought it was protocol to take any injured suspect to the hospital to be treated first before anything else can happen. I can't believe this kid was subjected to all the torture and interrogation with no medical attention!

That last segment is thoroughly disturbing and infuriating... Part of me is a little disappointed that the family isn’t suing/pressing charges; not only do they deserve some form of compensation for their suffering but those kinds of suits go a long way to making sure these types of things never happen again. It should absolutely be part of procedure to give people at the scene of a crime prompt medical attention regardless of culpability, and this is a shocking example of what happens when the system fails to prepare for officer incompetence. Truly tragic...

I don't believe in god or in any kind of afterlife. I think it's a better philosophy to keep our minds grounded planning our present day, reflecting about the mistakes of the past to manage to improve our future. No promises or dreams about heaven, just make your best now. That said, it is extremely hard to think about Ryan's final moments... to think he was target of such a nefarious individuals, lost his loved one, suffered this kind of injustice in the hands of authorities while deprived of his menthal capabilities. He had no chance and i can't immagine his suffering. I wish i could believe he is nice and easy living up in the clouds with his gf, but i just can't. He died alone, under physical and metal pain and nothing can be done about it. His last moments. Whenever i see authorities commiting this kind of miscarriage, or when i read through comments of people saying "officers are being too kind with this monster" when a suspect's legal rights are complied i feel extremely disgusted. I feel we are failing...

My god that poor kid!! That treatment was absolutely disgusting.

Maybe I’m a little biased because I’ve been an ICU nurse for so long but I believe anyone off the street could see that poor kid was physically harmed and neurologically unstable. Shame on that entire police team... the Reno 911 police could’ve done better. His poor family 💔

The last one is its own kind of police brutality.

Are you crazy, not through the entire 50 minute conversation did a single strange and incoherent answer, the wound on his head, or his lack of the ability to think concerned him at all. He immediately assumed he was the one who shot her. And I’m sure he thought he shot himself to cover it up. When they think they know what happened they refuse to see any other possibilities.

My chest literally hurts && i am going into my mothers room && curling up next to her. Really wish i hadn’t watched that. Enraged is an understatement. I feel sick to my stomach.

I don't usually comment on shit, and I thought the one with the kid was pretty rough but that last one! that poor fucking guy.

That was an example of how NOT to conduct an interrogation.

unreal... it's not just the detective who actually sat a few feet from him conversing for more than 50 minutes, also all the other officers at the scene, people who detained him, medicals, csi, detectives at the scene, officers who questioned him at the scene, put him in the car, and nobody in that building noticed the severity of the injuries or his condition.

my GOD thats infuriating, the poor kid...

kazimir lai

I am so shocked as to how a trained interrogator could not realize this man had extreme head wounds. Wild.

wow, that last segment was hard to watch. such a bizarre thing to watch unfold

i have never been so audible watching something as that last case. WTF!!!! Mind-blowing we walk with people like this.

I've seen almost every JCS video and that last one was the most painful to watch. I have no words. Being at the mercy of the incompetent is my biggest fear. I'm baffled by this officer's impatience, and one-track-mind. I'm reminded of a scene in a video I saw that really got to me as a kid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ithQ05SH1Q

I know the last one is incredibly difficult to watch, but as weird as this sounds i feel we owe it to Ryan to watch it, so we all know what happened to that poor man.

Amanda Devaus

Im not watching the last segment. That police officer needs to be charged with manslaughter negelectance or how that is called in the USA

I could not watch that last segment. truly tragic.

Matt Kincaid

I cannot believe this last case, the fact that the arresting officers, AND the detective failed to realize that he had been SHOT IN THE HEAD multiple times is disgusting. It's not a matter of lacking the medical knowledge or skill to perform an examination, he quite clearly had gunshot wounds and powder burns on his face but they still chose to bring him in for questioning, unbelievable.

Man I watch crime stuff literally all day but that last case was truly fucked

Kenneth Wilkins II

The last segment was really difficult to watch, my heart was bleeding for Bryan as the clock ticks, poor boy, they could had saved his life if only they would had examine his wounds sooner

That last case is one of the craziest sand sad things I've ever seen. Even if he was a suspect wouldn't the cops ask if he needs medical attention? I wonder if they did and he said no. I just can't believe that happened. So glad I unlocked all the patrion content. Where else would you see stuff like that?

megan marts

The fact that the detective didn’t realize that he need medical attention immediately Is such bullshit and should be fired I mean come on poor kid at cant even imagine The pain he was in and getting worst with pressure of the bleed

Omg are you serious the guy has 4 bulets in him and your trying to interrogate him! That’s horrible

It was obvious that something bad happened to the lad without and context its so hard to watch.

That young man would have had a chance if he had been treated for his injuries before being interrogated and neglected the way he was. And still, internal affairs does nothing to punish these incompetent morons. Whoever was responsible for him not being treated immediately should at the very least be terminated.

this incredibly upsetting to watch.

Oh my god. I've never been motivated to scream at my phone before watching that last one. and by the end I was bawling. What unconscionable incompetence. I'm sure I'm justsaying what we're all feeling but God damn...had to say something. Fucking tragic

last case makes you really dislike certain police. They need more training.

That last one was hands down the hardest video to watch yet. Wow. My blood was BOILING at the sheer incompetence of that interrogation officer. I has to stop the video at one point as I just couldn't imagine the suffering and the building damage the poor kid was going through.

The dude that killed his grandson, pissed me off that he doesn’t start crying literally till they mention his girlfriend. No remorse for his grandson but as soon as they mention his wife, he gets very emotional.

Stories like this make me relieved not to live in USA and be subjected to American cops. Police in my country are FAR from perfect, but I think they would at least take me to hospital if I have been twice shot in the face.

lariat

you see flashes of the cognizant Ryan fighting to break through the trauma trying to articulate his thoughts and his conciousness frustratingly fighting the trauma induced limitations of his brain/CNS . Am i alone in my observation?

Lol right

I think the police officer interrogating ryan was just really a victim of the coincidental subtext. One of his colleagues probably gave him a briefing which put him totally of track. You don't see too many people get shot in the face and then stay conscious , it was just a big mess. I actually bet he feels more stupid afterwards than any of these comments could make him feel. Very sad

You should change your profile name to "Ryans Brainz" in his memory.

interrogator on the heather revolver situation needs an iq check. this dude is a fuckin moron

PRETENTIEUX

why the fuck is shaking death a known thing the way it is? who can act that way with another human in frustration let alone one so young and small enough to be handled that way in the first place? this is straight evil anyone who shakes a child to death should be in for life.

PRETENTIEUX

There's so much stunning in Ryan's story but most of all the detective. I'm literally sitting here stunned. That guy makes a living as a detective but can't detect gun shot wounds on a person 3 feet away from him???

I am beyond upset at the actions of the investigators (or lack there of) in the last case. A boy was shot in the head...and somehow they didn’t know?! That’s what emergency personnel is for!

The one silver lining of Ryan's heartbreaking story is he was able to speak the name of his two murders, and the circumstances of his and Heather's murder, multiple times, on camera, in front of a detective, before his body gave out.

I can't help but get angry about the poor guy who wasn't given medical treatment for his bullet wounds right away. Who's to say if he would have survived had he got medical attention sooner... but for the detective to question him without taking notice of his wounds immediately, is astounding. Its inhumane. In previous interrogation vieos if the suspect had as much as a scrape on his arms the detective would ask "have u had medical or do you need medical for that?" And this guy sits there suffering...

The Det. looked at his injuries, saw the hole through his nose, commented on his current disoriented state.....then continued questioning him?!?

I am not usually one to leave a comment but the last video shook me. I ask myself where the justice is. That poor young man, may God rest him and may his loved ones find peace. RIP

I've been around a while and I've seen some shit, but this ? Ryan I'm sorry man. I'm so sorry

I've watched alot of your videos and they are extremely intriguing. This interrogation is easily one of the more disturbing things I've seen. What a heart breaking video.

exactly. who watches the watchmen? that's part of the reason a lot of the things they do that encroach on or even ignore peoples civil rights go unpunished. along with the general publics blind trust in them when it's the general public they are trained to fight against. not criminals, the public. let me stop before i go off lol KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! and always lawyer up!

Police are meant to serve and protect, but who protects us from them?

Dont watch this while high. What a nightmare situation

Erik Sverkholt

Our cops are mostly uneducated jerks with giant chips on their shoulders who are itching for a fight. Most of them have zero schooling beyond high school and no other real job prospects. Certainly, there are exceptions, but as a rule they are neither the best nor the brightest.

So cops on USA can't spot Post traumatic amnesia, confabulation, irritability, sleepiness as symptoms of Traumatic brain injury. Even when that poor kid has Raccoon eye that is a sign of skull fracture.

Cop: Someone was SHOT and you didn't call 911!? Yeah... what's YOUR excuse?

Wow no one got in trouble for torturing that poor boy to death? SURPRISING.

Ian Nelson

It makes me so angry that those officers couldn’t see that he was shot in the face!!! They are horrible!!

You can be shot in the head twice and not taken to hospital?? WHAATTT?!?

Jason Longo

Bro the kid that got shot in the face is so fuckin sad man this is why nobody likes the police. Prolly blacks moreso but fuckin anyone that doesn't have a little tin badge ain't in the club, their life don't matter. That shit is so gross. Just disgusting ☹️😔 I don't understand genuinely

So police investigated themselves and decided that they did nothing wrong. And then they are surprised why people don't trust them.

Of all the cases... that last one really hurt my heart man. That was the most difficult thing I've ever watched in quite some time. Damn... that just hurts.

I really need to take that “viewer discretion advised” more seriously because that last case is beyond fucked up. My chest literally hurts now wtf...

I was hoping to hear Ryan made a full recovery & goes on to win a massive lawsuit, he was about my age too, so sad RIP brotha, may the wrath of God be felt upon his killer ....

A part of me just died watching that. 😞

felt bad for that couple, and i'm a genericwhitemale

never felt more uneasy watching something in my life..

Wow. They really dropped the ball on that Ryan Waller. What the hell.

Heart wrenching. That last one was just sickening . Here we have the police to serve and protect and they did the exact opposite with that poor young man. They are trained to recognize distress and all of the things Ryan displayed as signs of trauma . My heart breaks for that family . @mollypop pretty much said it all for me .

acab

urine poops

Oh my goodness! the last one was so hard to watch. That story is tragic from start to finish. Although that boy was in so much pain, I'm glad that he survived to tell the truth of what happened and was able to put those killers behind bars. Can you imagine them getting away with that and still living among the people?

Faithfullmess

It was his fault, too. THERE WAS A BULLET HOLE IN HIS NOSE.

That last case is one of the worst things I have ever watched. I felt my heart break into pieces and cried for Ryan. He was like a little lost young boy, he was so confused and distressed my lord. Fuckin 45 minutes it took that absolute moron to realise? 45 minutes, really? I cannot believe this. I cannot believe they found him bloodied and bruised as he was regardless of knowing he was shot, and didn't get him medical attention. But to think this poor boy sat there whilst his brain was shattering...you could see just pieces of him were going away as the clock ticked on. I cannot fathom this fuckin idiot of a cop sitting there. How it took him this long to check on him. I HATE that nobody was held accountable. I hope that investigator and everyone who put him in the back of a cop car are haunted every day by what they did to Ryan. I hope none of them get to sleep peacefully at night for it. He had a bullet in his head and he was being accused of murder. I can't believe it. I really can't. This one horrified me but broke my heart for Ryan, it was like watching a little 5 year old. My fuckin god one of the most fucked up, undeserved things I've ever watched happen to somebody. I think the only saving grace is, due to his horrific injury, he was unable in that moment to comprehend the horror of knowing his girlfriend was dead. I hope he was never able to realise she had died.

It wont happen. Cops are the biggest gang on earth and they protect eachother

Sometimes pigs deserve to die

Detective Paul Dalton with a stellar performance.

Man, they need to take apart that police department so this never happens again and the officers involved deserve to fired at the very least.

Yeah but only after he was at the station for about 30 minutes, after he'd been in custody for 6+ hours already. And he'd also told them a lot of other things like he'd been shot with an arrow that didn't make sense in the hours beforehand. He was very vague and obviously confused. The cops were forced to come up with their own conclusions and unfortunately they came up with the wrong one. Imo it just looked like he'd been in a fight, I didn't see the hole just a dark spot on his nose. It would have been coagulated with blood so there was no hole.

the victim told them who shot him and what happened, there was a VERY apparent hole in his face, every single officer was informed of what happened, they weren't clueless. they just didn't 'believe him'

shelby

Reading the comments I thought I was going into some gory, life changing shit with that last one, and I was going to be scarred for life. I thought the officer was goin to be shouting at a kid and beating him up after he'd been shot in the face. I'm glad it wasn't that, although it's still tragic. The cop was asking questions not knowing the guy had been shot in the face. He doesn't know what state of mind he's in or if he's taken drugs. Could be why he didn't take notice of his vague responses. It only took him 40-50 minutes to work out what was going on, while in comparison the cops first on the scene didn't notice at all while they kept him in the back of their car for 6 hours. They're the ones that should have noticed done something. Also he definately should have been seen by the paramedics. Just tragic all round. Just awful. My heart goes out to the family's and loved ones.

lol

Great, started bawling at the end of that last one. So fucked up, hope that guy rots in prison

Stephen Devlin

That fukin MORON has to be the biggest fukin POS SCUMBAG idiot cop on planet EARTH! "OMG, OMG, OMG, OMFG...." was all I could say after learning about his eyesight + death thereafter as the screen went to black! Holy fuk man, can't get over that sht rn! That poor fukin kid get shot TWICE by this inbread- hillbilly, SCUM- survives only to have the most incompetent + wreckless P.D. put him thru unimaginable mental + physical TORTURE!! Even the F.D. fukhead MORONS are yelling at him bc he doesn't fukin know wtf happen on his way out! "OMFG......."

Defund the police!!

I couldn’t get through the entirety of that last one. Jesus! How did they not provide immediate medical attention to that young man!? It’s outrageous. So disgusted...

I had to turn off the last one after JCS talked about the 18 year old's psychological condition. SO FUCKING DEPRESSING that idiots/psychos were dealing with that case and didn't get him help. Plus if the crim happened on dec 23 and his father called after they missed an xmas dinner..... was he there for 2 days?

Ricky

I did crime scene cleanup for a year, I fall asleep to investigation discovery, crime podcasts, books, you name it. This was one of the hardest ‘interrogations’ I’ve watched, if you can even call it that. I CANNOT believe that office didn’t see signs of this head injury prior. Even for someone with no experience, it seemed clear he had a head injury. Mind boggling. That poor family.

I found this really truly tragic and heartwrenching. That poor boy and his poor family.

Here I am talking smack on Canada's legal system and that last travesty happened in my State. Darn it😔 F internal investigations!

I hope these Officers lost their jobs after that interview. What a fucking shame. Made me sick to watch.

that last interrogation was absolutely horrible and i can only hope that noone should have to go through such an ordeal, even if someone is the suspect initially and only looks to have been beaten medical care should be a priority, the officer conducting the interview should have been reprimanded for prolonging his situation causing irreversible brain damage. I'm not an investigator or police officer of any kind yet i can recognise brain injury when i see it. My thoughts go out to his family.

the last part looking at him under Interrogation just after what he went went through...its like seeing a torture

I don't want to live in a world where shit like that happens (the last interrogation). I'm disgusted and almost nauseous.

No lawsuit? Look....I get not caring about the money, or wanting to have to pursue a legal battle, but if nothing is done, then nothing changes. This was MASSIVE negligence on the part of the police. He obviously has intracranial bleeding, which could have been treated quickly, limiting the damage to his brain. Wow.

ahh i was in a good mood before i watched that last interview

I agree. That one will stick with me as well. Horrible. Ryan was so incredibly strong.

Jess Is Blessed

The interrogator in the last one should catch a manslaughter charge for being a fucking scumbag and not helping the poor kid

I don’t know how that last interview was even aloud to be conducted... Absolute bullshit the way these things are even aloud to happen.

I don’t get how you can kill a baby and only get 8 years..

The last one made me so sick to my stomach with such affliction. All law enforcement detectives should be required to watch this. What happened to Ryan should never had happen. Condolences to his family and loved ones as well as Heather.

Damn...

That was so incomprehensibly disgusting. Anyone and everyone should be given medical attention before questioning, plausibly guilty of a heinous act or not. I hope that last case is burned in the mind of every law enforcement agent so this never happens again.

Ugh you weren't kidding with hard to watch. That last segment literally got me dizzy and infuriated.

Man I am sick. That last investigator is an insufferable human and an even worse person.

I really wish that officer woulda got fired. Or rather that the family sued. Cause that is ridiculous bro. How do you interrogate a man that cant even remember his highest finished grade, and switched from a bow and arrow to a gun? Its abundantly clear he's not all there. Even if you do believe that he was just beat up and not shot...why would you not still have him evaluated FIRST?!

Shadow Kosmos

The officer makes me sick, acts like the biggest smartass, yet doesn't notice that he has a hole through his nose, absolute mad man

The more I watch this case with Ryan: that is a strong man there. I cannot believe that this happened. What the hell. Why didn't they allow EMS to assess the patient? "You need to tell me the truth, your story doesn't make sense" Talk about missing the truth. I dislike when cops just immediately assume and try to build a case, ignoring the VERY OBVIOUS signs of head injury.

That poor Ryan kid: I've treated, and seen SO many head injury patients, and oh my God he had obvious signs of brain injury, and was obviously in severe pain. I cringed throughout the entire interview. Dear goodness what incompetence.

I swear that the Canadians have it down pat in so many ways with interrogation. The come in with all the facts which seems to make it more concrete in the person's mind. They're so non-judgmental, gentle, and people want to be heard ultimately. There is a lot of variation in personality types, like anywhere, but they seem like they stick to the techniques, and they work. I see a lot of interviews and love body language stuff, but police officers should have the opportunity to get better training in those areas, because even without outright confessions you can still get convictions and establish guilt.

No amount of gore/graphic content I have watched in the past would reach the level of last video, poor guy lost the love of his life and was slowly dying while being inhumanly interrogated, this will stick with me for a life time.

This is just plain disturbing.

I was so disturbed by this story! That poor baby! Really didn’t know wtf was happening! You mother fuckers take a person to the hospital for a k9 bite!? But not take a man with a hole in his face? If you thought he did it or not! He still needs medical attention. This man lost his eyes! And then his life because your negligence ! No you didn’t pull the trigger but you contribute to it wanting to have a open and shut case blinded you from what was right in your face.

As infuriating as that last case was to watch unfold, what's arguably just as enraging is that they had an "internal investigation" about it. Every dumbass there thought it was a-okay to put a shooting victim inside of an interrogation room and then they have the gall to investigate it internally. They're clearly incompetent, can't investigate worth a shit, and should be investigated by literally any other agency other than themselves. Of course they end up without disciplinary action. That shit is just sickening and they deserve repercussions for being so irresponsible and negligent.

I mean the huge hole in the last guys nose should made that cop think “maybe he’s trekking the truth and did get shot.”

The last one was hard to watch, with the knowledge of hindsight. I think the detective will never forget that interview, nor is it purely his fault (think of the first responders). As soon as he bothered to look at the nose, you could almost instantly see his guilt. Plus, tbf, if someone told me "interview this guy who was beaten up during a struggle with his gf who he shot", I wouldn't assume he was shot in the face. This really is the fault of the first responders.

Jeez that last one was rough to see. I cant believe how long it took the cop to realize the situation and that questioning the poor boy was only doing more damage. You could tell that he was trying his hardest to remember what happened and put it into any kind of vocab.

Martin Sutti

My heart is broken for this boy, I see my 2 sons in him and I want to just jump in the camera and yell at that detective. I've never been so upset over something I've seen. Please tell me his parents have filed ever lawsuit possible. How on earth does a trained detective NOT get medical clearance for that boy??? This makes me so sad....

That poor boy.

that was the hardest one to watch that i've seen so far, asif it really took that investigator 50+ minutes to actually look at the hole going through his nose. that family shoulda filed a thousand lawsuits

I had to step away from my laptop for a while because I was so upset. Devastating.

Fenetta Norman

That was beyond devastating, probably one of the worst things I’ve watched to date, and kind of wish I hadn’t. Rest in Peace Ryan x

I couldn't either. I had to skip it. Didn't help to find out he didn't survive and I wonder if more medical attention would have saved him...

Wow.

Fenetta Norman

That was so hard to watch,.

I’m gripped by an immense feeling of helplessness. I want to scream through my screen to the detective to use his brain. I feel like my nephew, 5, has more common decency and intellect to decide that maybe, just maybe, something isn’t right. A heartbreaking story that should be more mainstream so as to inform the public about police negligence

just finished it too. that was the worst yet for me man.

Heart breaking man, that was really rough to watch.

wow that last one is really messed up. beyond what I could imagine

You'd think that the first thing the police would do when arresting someone who has an injury is to get them examined. I don't even understand how can the police have the right to ignore someone's injury and head right to investigate them, it doesn't even come with any benefit to the police to question an injured person. Such a shame.

couldnt watch the last interview mang

Berriuqam

completely disgusting. this is heartbreaking. I hope they get their due. have to believe that. Rest in peace, Ryan. my sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones. you were wronged.

This is sickening. I couldn't watch all at once :(

And its so obvious that his memory and cognitive function is impaired. It is good that he got the name of the shooter out during the interrogation but its tragic that his life couldn't be saved.

How much of an idiot does that cop in the last episode feel like. What a moron! As bad as his face looked, he should’ve been looked at by medical professionals. Guess that officer won’t ever say “if you got shot in the eye, you wouldn’t be here” ever again

:,(

That one with the poor dude shot: That "investigator" needs to be fired. A potato could do a better job than this idiot. Can't notice bullet holes in the dudes face. Wow. POS

i couldn't watch the last one, i could only get so far, i don't think i'll be able to come back to finish it. emotion overload

that was quite shocking...

Honestly breaks my heart hearing about him both losing his GF then his eyesight and his life and the worst part is we don't know if the latter two could of been prevented and neither does his parents however the police negligence and fact he wasn't given medical attention is beyond horrendous he had an injury to his head regardless if it was face its his head if you come into my A&E with trauma to the head you're a priority straight away because of the organs both in your head and face being so critical its ashame the police in america aren't required to act to the same standard and concerning

Max Doe

they didn't, because it wouldn't bring back their son. Maybe even sadder than if they did... just to say it

That was heartbreaking to watch. RIP to them both.

The last case, I hope the sued them to kingdom come.

What an idiot that cop is. He should be fired

This is one of the most disgusting cases of conduct by police. How do you not recognise that someone has been shot and has brain damage! All you have to do is look at the poor man and listen to his confusing statement to realise that something is wrong. How can you not provide medical care straight away? I feel so bad for this family!

I can't even remember what the first interview was about....

that last case was seriously infuriating.

The Pheonix Police should''ve been prosecuted for negligence beyond stupidity in the Ryan Waller case.

"Bonnie and Clyde" didn't have even a two functioning brain cells to rub together... between the both of 'em.... And the "Waller" case was tragedy layered incompetence, on more tragedy.

The Ryan Waller case is an absolute tragedy, and it’s unbelievable that the police review into the case found no fault. My heart aches for the Waller family.

the last case is infuriating. i feel so bad for the family and friends involved.

If they had paramedics/firefighters on scene, why wouldn't they direct them to check the male as well? If for no other reason, it's a CYA (cover your ass) for the patrolmen and his report. As well, if they suspected a beating/concussion than he should have been checked for no other purpose but to verify the authenticity of the interview (i.e. He confesses to murder, but it's thrown out in court because he had a concussion). Administration is extremely important in that profession.

I've been a frequent visitor of bestgore for years and had that interest in shock videos for a long time. There is something about this video however that I just couldn't get through, even though I've seen the most perverted and disgusting stuff imaginable on the internet, there was something about the psychological element of a guys brain bleeding as he's being hounded by an interrogator. I felt so anxious just watching the clock tick down and the interrogator become more and more incompetant

I don't know how I'm going to make it through the last one.

Not Alain

Don’t really have any words for how angry the last interrogation makes me. Even worse none of the incompetent officers are to face ANY repercussions for essentially torturing the kid.

theres no way he didn't realize oh my god

holy crap that cop is so ignorant... in the best of terms

WTF I’m crying for Ryan. This shit is just sad

This shit is surreal. Couldn't bring myself to watch the whole interrogation (2nd one)

Jesus God damn christ what the fuck is wrong with those cops. I hope someone's been prosecuted over this. This is absolute insanity. They bring an innocent kid whose been shot in the head twice into interrogation instead getting him help first and then tried to find out what happened. Seriously, jobs should've been lost and people prosecuted and sent to prison. This interrogator is a fucking moron too. You can tell that the kid doesn't know what's going on. Fucking idiots don't deserve to have this job.

Wojciech Tolsdorf

He was shot in the face. What in the FUCK.

USAgent

This breaks my heart (the last one). This poor kid was so OBVIOUSLY suffering from brain damage and the cops allowed precious HOURS to go by. Those parents are better people than me. I know that a lawsuit will not bring back their child, but it might get that police department to conduct further training for future victims. If the parents didn’t want the money, they could donate it to some worthy cause.

Well apparently if you can identify a person was shot twice in the head without him having to tell you about it, face to face, for almost an hour, you're already ahead of the curve.

interviewer: "they shot you in the EYE- with a REVOLVER?" guy with two gunshot wounds in his face suffering from severe brain damage and internal bleeding as a result: "yeah man" interviewer: "idk seems fake to me."

this second one is really fucking me up

I blame the people who thought he was okay enough to be sent to be interrogated, i mean sure the detective took far too long to notice but the people on the scene are the real idiots.

Yeah man.. my dream job is to be a detective.... too bad I know myself too well wont happen

yeah, very sad, and highly uncomfortable. Imagine the guilt the interrogating officer must have for not putting 1 and 1 together

damn, i broke down and wept for the poor kid and his parents.

That was probably the most painful interrogation I've ever watched.

That was hard to watch. Incredibly frustrating and sad.

i would sue the FUUUUUUCK out of that police station if i were the parents. wow...

That last one was so hard to watch. You can see his mind is just intermingling different information he has taken in before, as it has sustained, and still is, sustaining trauma. The tiredness should have been a huge giveaway, especially with a visible injury around the face/head area.

Wow im still in shock poor guy and his girl, he lived to see justice but feel terrible for him.!!

This guy interrogating the guy shot in the face makes me so fucking angry I wanna choke the cop!!!!

He lost both of his eyes..

WT line dancing elephant FUCK. Last one was TRULY heart breaking. I was yelling at my phone watching this. Seriously, shit had me in my feelings BAD. Cops make mistakes but that one was a bad one. I hope his family finds peace. I've seen people die on front of me before. This was worse than that. That was probably the hardest thing I've ever watched in my life. 😥 💔 👼🙏

I entered a fit of rage after witnessing how that cop, dumbfuck Dalton handled that situation. Makes me ashamed of my last name. Fuck that guy.

WOW!! That last interrogation was tough to watch. Kid lost his eye and a portion of his brain and all he can think about is his damn career. Detectives should be neutral. How did no physician not step in and say this kid had some serious problems

I doubt he feels even a little remorseful for it

The last interwiew is the largest show of incompitance I have ever seen. In Sweden even if you were just hit in the head it is standard procedure to send them to the hospital and monitor them. Theese cops did not only fail to see the bullet holes in his face and head, but when he told them he was hit in the head and he was behaving like a toddler withouth any registered diagnosis they just ignore it? Holy fuck this just makes me sick and frustrated.

The last case was hard to watch.

All I can say to the last case is JESUS TAP DANCING CHRIST. WTF. That detective should have been suspended at the very least. He failed this poor kid. I hope he thinks of Ryan every day and how the negligence of the phoenix pd as a whole contributed to this already awful event. What a bunch of fuck ups. That was a rough one to watch.

Sarah DeMatteo

OMG that last story is horrible. How aweful.

Gregory B Dietz

The last case was incredibly hard to watch, I almost couldn't finish it. No disciplinary action was taken???? How infuriating. Poor Ryan, rip.

I can't believe that horrific interrogation at the end :( Beyond shocking and terrible.

Lol asking him if he’s seen cops

"...and...he's acting like he has a head injury"

36 minutes and this dullard hasn't twigged he's shot in the face/head.

We can only hope that the incompetent officer who interrogated that man is punished. He literally told him he was shot in the face and the 'interrogator' never thought to look more closely at the holes in his face...

I am so sorry for your loss and having to go through all of this....absolutely heartbreaking ☹ I pray for peace for your family and Heather as well ❤ please take care

Wow. Really hard to watch as you said. How sad for Ryan Waller. I was going through it with him in that interrogation, saying shut the...up to the detective. Just horribly sad. Good thing there was justice. So sad for Heather.

Yes that was pretty hard to watch, very harrowing. I imagine the police interrogator and others involved in prolonging this innocent mans pain albeit unknowingly have sleepless nights over this. Truly very sad but we must remember that we see hein sight in 20-20

That interrogator needs to be fired. What a fucking dumb piece of shit. I’ve never wanted to beat someone’s ass through a screen so bad before. Back slap him as hard as I can in his bald spot!

In a lot of ways all of these cases are difficult to watch, but WOW. As someone who learned about TBI (Traumatic brain injury) because my brother suffered one in a motorcycle accident, this was very difficult to watch and not feel absolutely sick. I'm so sorry that Ryan suffered in such a terrible way .

Nothing happened to the detective? Jeez. 50 minutes of speaking to a half dead kid and he didn't even register.

This was the most frustrating thing I've EVER seen. My heart hurts just hearing his brain unknowingly try to work out the answers & seeing his body language. That detective.... Ugh...... I don't even have words for this. Thanks JCS

My heart goes out to you and your family. I am truly sorry for what happened to your son.

I'm sorry for your loss Don. And I'm sorry you were denied justice.

I can’t believe the police were so dumb, poor Ryan

JCS, I am the father of Ryan Waller. First of all I would like to thank you for your video about the injustice done to my son. I’m glad that this is finally starting to get some attention so that hopefully something like this will never happen to another innocent victim. Secondly, no fault of yours because a lot of the information out there is sketchy, but we did indeed have a lawsuit against the City of Phoenix for 15 million dollars. The lawsuit went on for almost 4 years and we were 3 weeks from trial when the City filed a “Motion for Dismissal” because they said they found a “Brain expert” who said the 6 hour delay in Ryan’s treatment probably didn’t make a difference in his outcome, that he would have had just as much damage had he had surgery right away or several hours later. I had paid a 10,000 retainer for a “Expert witness Brain Surgeon out of Florida, who would have testified something a whole lot different, because when your brain is bleeding it is swelling and when it is swelling catastrophic damage is being caused. Anyways, Judge Budoff in the Superior court in Phoenix dismissed our case, which only tells me that someone was paid off because if this had gone to trial, there is no way that a jury would have sided with the City. Don Waller

Hi Elle, I am the father of Ryan Waller, And the reports out there about us not suing are wrong. We did have a 15 million dollar lawsuit against the City of Phoenix that went on for almost 4 years and when we were 3 weeks from the start of the trial, the City’s attorneys filed a “Motion for Dismissal” because they said they got a expert witness that said “The 6 hour delay probably didn’t make a difference in Ryan’s outcome and he would have been just as messed up had he had treatment right away or later like he did. I had hired a expert witness (Brain Surgeon) out of Florida who would have testified something a whole lot different, because when your brain is bleeding it is swelling and when it is swelling damage is being caused, so every minute that went by more and more damage is caused. Ryan not only had his eye removed, but he had almost the whole left temporal lobe of his brain removed along with a small piece of his frontal lobe. Anyways, Judge Budoff ( Who I’m sure they paid off) dismissed our case. Had this gone to trial, there is no way a jury would have ever sided with the City. Don Waller

Ryan was kept in the back of a police car for almost 5 hours before he was interrogated. Ryan’s father. Don Waller

Please tell me the officials involved in the second video have had some major retraining. So incredibly obvious and so sad. Cops deal with people who lie to them all day, so they have a hostile, unbelieving take on the world. They are then often the absolute worst people to deal with an innocent or injured, sick person.

YES! his father got worried because he missed Christmas Dinner! Than on the 27th of December the son lost both of his eyes and brain damage. Such a sad story.

I just don't get why the Detective didn't detect that Ryan was shot in the face. Even if it "didn't look that bad, so I wanted to interrogate him while it's all still fresh in his mind.", the detective should probably have started the interview with: "My God, what happened to you! Looks like your girlfriend fought back before you killed her, eh?". And then Ryan would have probably mentioned the wounds being bullet holes actually, instead of bad bruises. It's a good lesson for all detectives, but it's also a horrible lesson to have to learn firsthand. Too bad Ryan was, in a way, their teacher on what not to do while a suspect is actually dying if front of you.

me too!! it was so hard to watch!! I couldn't believe it!!

Rest in peace Ryan. Rest in peace Heather. You both deserved so much better.

That detective should be shot in the fucking face twice. What a piece of shit. Rest in Peace Ryan 💜

It makes me so mad that when Ryan tells the detective he'd been shot in the face the only response is that he's lying. I seriously had to skip parts just knowing of his fate due to the cops negligence

Oh my god. My heart breaks for Ryan.

Payton Smith

Rest In Peace Ryan, I'm sorry you had to suffer from human error and stupidity. I think after this police officers in Phoenix should under-go intensive training in the medical field. I hope that officer has nightmares every night knowing he has chosen a case file over a human life. I'm sure he's not a bad man for this but now he should know better than to make someone suffer.

Last one is weirdly relatable to something I went through, a high stress situation with serious bloodloss where nobody really cared that it was happening for a long time, and was nearly unwatchable for me. Never had seen something so terrible. I have trouble not feeling so displeased with the interrogator.

The interview with the guy SHOT TWICE IN THE HEAD is nearly unwatchable.

A "doomed romance"? Glad these two are in prison..

Police: Interrogates for 50 minutes Media: Was interrogated for hours

Is police fucking blind? Don't they see a fucking hole in his nose and a huge sign in his eye?

Police was not better

Im just in shock from the last one. Never felt like this before, this is absolutely insane. Ive just sat in pure horror from this for a couple of minutes, i cant believe it. Damn. I cant even express how hateful i feel towards the shooters. May he rest in peace

I’m crying for Ryan.

Johanna Kemp

That poor man. I've watched a lot on UK crime and this man needs a "responsible adult" or attorney or something.

Disgusting.

That's pretty much exactly what I thought, struggling to continue to watch it honestly.

41:30 When that detective finally had that ‘holy shit’ moment after actually examining Ryan’s face and noticing the hole through his nose... 44 minutes into the interrogation.

damn. this cop should have lost his job at the very least. poor guy

What a horrible thing. I always thought the police got medical attention to suspects FIRST, then interrogated. When I heard the killers father was involved, all I could think was, “geez, I can’t even get my dad to help me install a sink, much less help me kill people.”

That poor kid.

Only pathetic losers settle things like that.

Wow that last one was truly heartbreaking as fuck. She was beautiful and he seemed like a good kid. Even after all he went through he managed to piece it together slowly... Rest in peace to both of them.. Their poor families. Over such a stupid ass reason, that ugly ass kid was jealous I would imagine and clearly cant fight

btw it all happened on Christmas...

I was wondering what the comments were about, why was the last clip so hard to watch? How bad could it be? I've managed to sit through everything so far. "Ha, I guess some people just 'can't hack it'." .....Narrator pauses video, finishes introduction, I pause video, "What the fuck? WHAT THE FUCK??" "OhmyGOD! No fucking Way!""...Jim Swim continues to educate me on how limited my imagination is about how fucked up things can get

I was the same Lilah, just couldn’t finish watching it. Wasn’t surprised to leave a comment and find many comments saying they couldn’t watch it all either. It was horrificly tragic. Someone said revolting and I think that’s the closest word to it. It’s made me appreciate my loved ones and want to go hug them.

I had to stop watching at 38 minutes. I think that is the saddest thing I have ever seen. Heart breaking. It also brought back memories for me of my drunk mom waking me up out of my sleep to talk to me and I would respond like this guy.

Why didnt they take that brain damaged guy to the hospital?

They should have sued the police station holy shit

The last was heartbreaking. How on earth was nobody disciplined! They contributed to that man’s death! It’s disgusting that the force was unable to hold themselves accountable.

Stop being such a pussy mate

Jeremy

Wow couldn't watch the poor injured guy, only JCS video I've turned off in the middle, how fucked up was that whole situation, and to know hes worsening as you watch it is truly disturbing.

The most frustrating thing iv ever experienced is watching this last interrogation while my internet decides to start sucking and loading every 10 seconds

Man, I couldn’t finish the last 10 min..that was really sad :(. Fuck that detective.

I couldn't watch it. I skipped most part because the knowledge of his pain makes the interrogation techniques trivial and in this case part of the crime he went through. looks like involuntary manslaughter. This is wrong and I consider this a crime worthy of trial - how critical thinking failed.

21:08 - timestamp for where I pick up tomorrow

god this makes me so angry. what an idiot cop.

How could the cop not tell that something was up? Baffles me.

I had to watch this in 10-30 second increments. Far and away the most infuriating thing I've ever sat through. I understand the parents feelings and I respect their position but if I were them I'd have sued that department into the ground and burned the money in the public square.

They'd lost their son in the most awful way. Why would they want to punish themselves by paying a lot of lawyers a lot of money for people to talk about how they lost their son in the most awful way.

And the family should have sued in my opinion. Even though no officer violated any internal policy (because there was none in place), there is still civil liability on the part of the police department and its duty of care. You can have every one following the rule book and still have negligence going on if the rules are screwed from the start....and, as well, that is not a beat cop problem to begin with...its a administration screwup....the chief or patrol captain or asst chief should have been fired imo. This is a policy screwup of the highest degree, and has been THE HARDEST video to watch. Sadly, those who have never had to deal with or know how internal police department adminstrations work will probably lay this at the feet of the lowly beat cop, and that's the furthest from the guilty party as you can get. Everyone at lieutenant and up on duty that night should have been fired. Some of you will understand what I mean by this --- Thank God the Supreme Court allows "qualified immunity" for the lowly beat cop officer......because some chiefs think they are always right, always know everything about everything, have all of the BEST ideas, and would never let any officer tell them otherwise." Anyone who has been a cop in a regular police department for more than a year or two knows exactly what I mean. Bad policy is not the fault of good patrol officers, it's the fault of lazy/bad administrators.

I think it's interesting to add here that the Phoenix Police Department up to this point did not have any internal policies that required suspects get medical attention for superficial wounds before being interviewed. This was not a good thing for obvious reasons. Policies like these were implemented as far back as at least the late 90s since you want a suspect being interviewed to not be able to claim the injuries somehow made him say/do something incorrect. Phoenix PD obviously changed their policies after this and now an officer who fails to medically clear a suspect would be terminated. Problem solved.

Apparently, much more incompetent than these officers.

How incompetent does someone has to be to get fired from a police department?

What the actual hell, this is the worst thing I've ever seen or heard. Even if he HAD shot his girlfriend, why the hell would his injuries not be assessed and treated!? How the hell did nobody realize anything was wrong when he is completely incoherent and has visible holes in his face!?

I understand the Wallers only want their son back, but to not take legal action against the Phoenix PD blows my mind. They should be held to account for what they did. Sue and then donate the money to an org that is trying to hold law enforcement to account, or to a fund to help others who are harmed by inept, corrupt, criminal cops. There are plenty of people who could use the help. But I do get it. Losing a child would be devastating. Different people respond differently. I know I for one would be enraged and want to never let the Phoenix PD forget what they did to my child. The ex roommate shot the gun, but the cops sealed the deal which made sure Ryan wouldn't have a chance. My sister's boyfriend shot himself in the neck in our driveway. My dad heard the shot and ran outside where the 20 year old was bleeding. Dad grabbed his neck and was holding it hoping to give him a chance waiting for EMT's. Cops arrived first and drew their guns on my dad screaming at him to let go of the young man's neck or they would shoot him. My dad begged them to not force him to let go as he would definitely bleed out in seconds. The cops would not have it. Why!? His hands were clearly holding a bleeding wound and he posed no threat. Didn't matter. Dad was forced to let go and Teri died right there. The cops weren't responsible for the shooting but they made sure any chance that he could be saved was removed from the equation.

The Feds are as corrupt. Do you know what a federal monitor is? The feds are supposed to monitor police agencies that are caught doing things like this and worse. When near 30 cops from up to 6 agencies had passed a 19 year old sex worker around between them (at least 4 when she was a minor) that region was already under federal monitor for previous cases of raping another sex worker and for various other serious crimes. The feds don't do a damn thing to 'monitor'. Google Celeste Guap. James Comey held the highest position in the FBI and should currently be under indictment for what he just did conspiring with other feds against the president. Love Trump or hate him, Comey broke the laws he is supposed to represent. The fish stinks from the head down. Every several days a cop is arrested for child sexual abuse or child porn. A friend of mine maintains a database of these cops, as well as cops charged for other crimes. It isn't just a few bad apples. There is a law enforcement census. We can do the math between cases of criminal cops and the census. It's long past time to do that math and hold law enforcement to account. I have had my own experiences with cops such as being pulled over at gun point because a cop (claimed) he thought I had stolen my own vehicle. I think he was bored and wanted to play cowboy. In two other situations I was given cavity searches as punishment for bringing up my having civil rights and another time because I made a comment a cop didn't like. I was calm and non combative both times but they clearly saw it as my having challenged their 'authority' and it was a means of proving their authority and putting me in my place. These people are humans. Flawed humans. How many seek out positions in law enforcement in order to hide their criminality? Cops are part of the american government. Sure, there are definitely good people among all the bad apples but they do not negate or minimize the reality of prevalent corruption throughout the law enforcement systems.

and I would be suing the fuck out of the Phoenix PD...

10 fucking years...the fuck?

It's so unfortunate, you would think that police would get some sort of medical training in order to distinguish what might be some sort of physical symptom versus what might be a psychological issue. It's difficult to watch, but poor training still doesn't excuse the incompetence seen here.

that one really broke my heart i couldn’t fucking watch omg

How TF did they not see he had some sort of brain damage?

This is the first police interview I have had to skip through.

The American police force are so unstructured and out of control. No procedures, they just do whatever they want. The fact that a guy lost his eyes should’ve been an immediate dismissal of the officers in charge. What happened to innocent until proven guilty you mother fuckers? The idea of this happening in any other first world English speaking country is laughable. The American government needs to take control of their law enforcement.

Matthew (Zei)

I had to fast forward parts of Ryan’s interview because I felt so sick to my stomach. How in the HELL could the officer see that he was SHOT and not just “beaten up?” His mom and dad seem like wonderful human beings...no amount of money could bring their son back. Heartbreaking.

i like how at the end when the firemen get there, he's like "these are just my observations..." bro u clearly didn't observe shit - it took u like 40 minutes to realize the man was shot in the face

Spencer Swensen

I really love your stuff man but I just can't watch the last part. I've tried multiple times now and I just can't :( And reading the comments saying he got no discipline...it's too much. I hope that guy rests in peace.

How that officer could be so obtuse is beyond reason. Ya know no one ever wrote a song called "fuck the Fire Department". That poor mans blood is on his hands as far as I'm concerned.

Unfortunately, the wounded victim did seem to act like a nervous, guilty suspect. Perhaps his wounds were mistaken for typical domestics, black eye and all. Normally, one should ask for medical attention and state what the matter is. Of course, his diminished mental abilities prevented him.

It was incredibly hard to watch and tragic to think his life might have been saved had they only gotten medical care instead of treating him like a suspect.

Last One. Unbelievable. Very very shocking. Is the interrogator still out there doing this to others?

That first interagator is bad ass. Looks like she spends her weekdays catching killers and her weekends knick-knacking. Imagine having your entire life shattered and broken down by a butch in a beach shirt. She is very cool

Unfortunately, he ended up passing away :-( his parents didn’t sue the phoenix PD because they said it wouldn’t bring back their son which was all they wanted

this cop is a piece of fucking shit. tells a dying victim "get your feet off my chair" with a tone of righteousness. what a cunt

YourBabysFather

I've seen a lot of these interrogations, but the one with the bleeding man made me unbelievably uncomfortable.

With that last case, I cannot imagine not filing a case against the police. Yes it will not bring Ryan back but it can help save someone else's life one day.

For Real, I wanna punch that detective in the face so bad.

This really got me. I'm literally shocked and I feel so bad for the family.

I'm really trying to get through this last one but man is it hard! It's sickening to say the least.

They didn't know he'd been shot? He had a third nostril! They don't teach that in EMT school???

I actually couldn't even finsh watching, I hope he sued the crap out of that PD for not getting him medical attention. I really have no words.

that last case would need to be a case study of procedures.

Can someone please give this sheriff's department a fucking medal? It only took them hours to find out there were holes in the dudes head. Bravo. What a bunch of fucking heroes.

I'd sue the everlasting fuck out of that police department. This is revolting. Poor guy.

My skin crawled when I watched that last case.

Yeah I really don't get why they didn't take him. Police are supposed to offer medical attention after using force, such as a taser, during an arrest. Even if its just a cut or sprain/possible broken bone, they should offer medical attention! It's always better for them to be seen and be okay than the other way around like what happened here. What an awful situation that really didn't need to happen. I really hope they learned their lesson!

Danni Masters Studio

I'm really surprised Ryan's family didn't sue the police department. I totally understand that all they want is their son back but admitly, I would of definitely sued them for every possible penny. No it wouldn't bring him back but it could help bring some justice for Ryan's suffering during the time in the squad car & police station and helped ensure it doesn't happen again to anyone else. But that's just my opinion. I respect them for making, what I can only imagine to be, a very tough decision.

Danni Masters Studio

Regarding the first case: That poor child! I couldn't agree more about murder/abuse suspects that decide to appear helpless when they don't consider thats how their victims felt. Its infuriating! That poor little boy was killed on my birthday in Ontario, where I live. That makes this disgusting "man's" actions too close to home (literally). I hate that. This should of never happened.

Danni Masters Studio

The first cops on the scene and the first EMTs should also be held accountable. Especially the EMTs!! They need to grow a pair and should of said to the police that they were going to take him to the hospital before anyone is taking him anywhere and if they had a problem with that to to call their supervisor. When 911 was called I'm sure they sent a paramedic.....On second thought scratch that... The way things were done in that zip code they probably figured that both of the victims were dead so why have a second opinion and call an ambulance.

Ms. Jodi

Disgusting. Worse is all those who would defend the cops.

I cannot believe they legit tried to interrogate that man with a gun shot wound to his freaking face. Like pardon????

I’m trying so hard to make it through the interrogation with the poor guy that got shot....it is TRULY infuriating

It really sucks nowadays to be a young white male...you have no cards to play and everyone treats you like shit because they know they can get away with it...as long as youre not gay or black or muslim. Its happening everywhere. I see ppl I work with who OBVIOUSLY shouldnt be there and supervisors are terrified to confront them. They take all their frustration out on us white kids, even when weve done nothing wrong. Its getting really bad. Just treat everyone equally. Why cant we do that?

Ryan Seitz

If I can tell hes not making sense and needs medical attention as a layman, surely a trained cop can tell earlier than 6 hours in...

Ryan Seitz

41:28 - You can actually pinpoint the second that the cop knows he done fucked up big time...

Ryan Seitz

Wow that interogation of that innocent kid Ryan that got shot in the eye and his gf killed is heartbreaking! Who cleared him as okay?? Hes so clearly messed up.

Ryan Seitz

I was literally screaming at that officer through the screen throughout this entire interrogation. Honestly, how could he not tell?

Detective Dalton here proving definitively that you can be a stupid cunt and still make it to detective.

its cool that you can literally be shot in the head twice and the police will still interrogate you.

juicy delicious

that was so fucking hard to watch, how could you not know that he was not ok? that is pure negligence! so simple, a layman could tell, and with the responsibility of a police officer and all the medical professionals is pure negligence. a very good case of negligence should have been taken against them. he should have been looked over by medical personal ON THE SCENE. not put in a car. this was so fucking terrible, a tragedy and so hard to watch.

Idk how the cop can just hear that the dude got shot in the head, and look at him like he is crazy when he is all fucked up.

Killjucker

That cop failed Ryan and should be charged with murder. Truly sad and despicable

I thought my phone was cracked from that wall -_-

ZapTRunsIsh .

The police are not our personal assistants. They don’t think they work for us, and they don’t act in our best interest. Do not call them unless you are in immediate danger and need armed thugs to save you.

jesus christ all of those police involved should be brought up on charges and fired

Dude, this kid is continually approaching brain death in front of this detective's very eyes...

I bursted out in an uncontolable crying fit while watching that interrogation . It ws random, felt like i lost control and compsure. This was sad and infuriating

SAD.... rip Ryan Waller

I'm sick. The fact that NO DISCIPLINARY ACTION WAS TAKEN just shows EVERYTHING wrong with the system we have in place. They should've been fired, had all their titles permanently stripped from them, and been charged with manslaughter. Absolutely disgusting.

Are you fucking kidding me?!? That officer is a POS! And of coarse, no action was takin against him. That just shows how corrupt our law enforcement really is. Dude wasnt even fired. This is EXACTLY why people have problems with the police. You know what? Im not even really that surprised. Theres no hope left. Those are the people who are supposed to be "protecting" us. But the ones who have the most influence and power over us people are only trying to benefit themselves.

Goodness... Ryan Waller and Heather Quan's case needs to be a study of what NOT to do. I'm shocked how little press this case received. My bones are quivering with anger because of how this arrest was conducted both medically and professionally.

Omg I'm at my office SCREAMING at the screen! That cop needs to be fucking fired. He is such a useless piece of human excrement!! Yeah, everyone is a damn suspect. No way the kid could be a victim, eh? He's just an angry homicidal white youth who owns guns so he MUST have killed his girlfriend, right?

I just can't comprehend how a person, suspect or otherwise, that has bullet holes on their head, isn't taken to a hospital before interrogation. The detective is right in front of him, It's reasonable to assume he can see his wounds.

Everyone’s attacking the interrogator for the Waller case but he was told that it was a suspect and to interrogate .. he did have tunnel vision but he has to live the rest of his days knowing he ruin and killed an innocent kid because of incompetence and ignorance ... you run that case back 9/10 times they catch it and the boy lives but they didn’t and I bet the interrogator never trust his uniformed police officer buddies again.

I couldn't even watch the last one, I want to fking strangle the cops involved with that, fucking IDIOTS

It takes a trained investigator 45 mins of direct face to face communication to realize someone has been shot in the face 4 times? What the actual fuck?

Every responsible for this terrible malpractice should lose their jobs and be sued, I am appalled my god.

Every cop involved with Ryan Waller's case should have been suspended and forced to take some sort of medical training. I've never been so outraged by an interrogation before.

Beth McLain

Man....... They really dropped the ball in that last one.

This one was hard to watch

Jesus fucking christ.

Right? All it took was to ask the simple question "Has he seen the medics?" to any of the officers on the scene and problem solved but columbo just has to draw out the interrogation like a cunt. "Ooh, bows and arrows, what a hot lead, this guy is definitely in the right mind-state to be interrogated."

This fucking pissed me off. Piece of shit cops and interrogator can't tell a man shot in the face needs medical attention. Honestly, fuck them. Who keeps a man for 6 hours in a cruiser!!!

That last one literally had me shivering. That poor guy, I can't even imagine.

Couldn't get through it. Stomach was turning. Unfuckingreal.

she wasn't a suspect she was a witness

Erin Smith

Police States are greeeaat

i skipped it. was to painful to watch.

Robert

That joke is getting less and less funny, just so you know.

I’m selling water wings if anyone wants in

“An internal investigation was done and no disciplinary action was taken” Why does that not surprise me

my wife is asking "can we just fast forward" (because she's getting annoyed with that detective)

This video made me physically nauseous. Had to turn it off, lay down and my girlfriend had to bring me water. 10/10

I think because Ryan's family chose not to sue the department. A big part of suing is not for financial gain. But to make sure it never happens to the next person. A lawsuit would have brought more attention to this case if they had. RIP Ryan.

This is a clear example of tunnel vision by the Detective. He was more interested in getting a confession out of Ryan than finding out the truth. And the obvious wounds Ryan had not treated. Time was lost and his life was lost in the end.

WW?

He doesn't know

Anthony Sturm

sad to see a google search of Ryan Waller garnered very little to no results.. his story has no light..

fucking detective didn't detect shit..

I had never gotten so angry watching any of your videos until Ryan's.. I was cursing the "detective" at several parts and nearly couldn't stand watching the entire video.. i wanna know more about what the happens to this fucking detective?!

Jim needs to put this on youtube

i actually cried when the officer finally realized and said he's gonna take him to the hospital

Ahri #1 Fan

"They thought he had been badly beaten" Even if Ryan was just beaten, he should've still been taken to a hospital.

i'm not a crier like at all, but the last case made me sob for that kid. the stupidity of the detectives was absolutely amazing! im so fucking angry!

The last case breaks my heart. Why is it that officers never get punished when they do something wrong ? It's always the same thing "An internal investigation is going on" blah blah blah and these grown ass people cannot even face consequences for their actions.

The cop in the final interview deserves to lose his eyesight. Not like he was even using it to begin with

nico

The Ryan Waller case is legitimately heartbreaking. That's the kind of shit that should prompt a full fucking sweep of that department and how or why a kid with holes in his head was not immediately taken to medical care. That investigator made me fucking sick.

Andrew Becker

I really hope that cop was at the very least fired for what he did. Disgusting and negligent.

First case, why interrogator is not sitting between suspect and the doors as they usually do?

The case at 22 mins, straight wtf

coffee

This is so painful to watch. How could the officer not see that he was suffering?!?!?)?

The last case? God damn it was a pain to sit through, I never thought I will want to click off a video. I can't believe that police concluded that they did nothing wrong. Isn't it a law that whenyou find someone in beaten up state you NEED to take them to the hospital/observation? Even people after small car accidents have to be observed for 24 hours because you never know if they didn't actually got any internal injuries. I can't believe police would be so reckless to just ignore his state. This makes me so sick.

Le monke

I've yet to have a hard time watching these videos and Ryan's case is the most disgusting thing I've ever watched. I need a cigarette after watching that...

Unbelievable! The torture that they put that poor boy Ryan through. I want to cry😢

Jesus. I'm a cop and I could barely watch that last one. Thank God for that last guy actually figuring it out. I would pay $20 just to hear what he said right before he came back in and said the FD is on their way. I can't imagine that feeling when he realized holy crap this guy is seriously wounded....then the feeling when he walked out to tell dispatch to send medical and then turned to the f'in morons that brought him in and said probably about 30 F words along with you are getting sued grab your ankles and update your resume.... Lord.......

Unbelievable neglect from the interrogating officer on Ryan's segment, worse from whoever put him in a squad car before an ambulance, he was clearly gravely injured. I regret watching that. RIP Ryan.

Now you're saying they shot you? ... I mean, doesn't it kinda look like that's exactly what happened?

This is the most fucked up thing. I couldn't even finish his interrogation because it was making me so upset watching that poor innocent kid slowly die. GAH

Is that detective retarded? This looks like an SNL sketch.

You are very right, that was hard to watch. We just watched that very incompetent officer essentially torture that boy to death on video, an act that could very well have earned someone else the death penalty, and they took no action?! Just disgraceful.

Fun fact: there is not much news about Mr. Ryan Waller. His life deserves to be celebrated. The sheer incompetence of this "detective" should earn himself eternal torture. Not only him but EVERYONE who came into contact with him that night. This is what happens when you already have your mind madeup. You tunnel vision. I absolutely hate people who play positions of power and authority. I keep imaginig that the detective was taking his shitty day out on Ryan. Rest in peace Ryan Walling. Finally. He wasn't supposed to die 😪😪😪💔 rest in peace Heather and 💐💐💐💐💐 Not only cant we protect our kids we cannot even save them from this world because the bible apparently says we are guilty of sin as soon as we are born. Dumb ass society.

I have seen extreme violence in person, also on videos, Beheadings, murders etc. That video of Ryan was more disturbing than most of the stuff I have seen. I think it was the actions of the officers that was more disturbing than anything a blatant disregard for human life. People should ALWAYS be treated innocent untill proven guilty, especially in a situation like that. I assume the police showed up and assumed it was a open and shut case that he had shot his woman, I believe this is partly why they treated him the way they did. I feel so badly for his family and him.

The Ryan video... I'm not done with it yet, so I have no idea what happened, but holy shit that cop needs to be punched.

45 minutes to realize the guy in front of you with a hole in his head, who is telling you he was shot, got shot. God bless our officers.

Hugh Mainwaring

I almost couldn’t finish the Ryan video - I have literally never seen such disgusting malpractice in my life. I was so relieved when he finally fucking realized and got him some help, but it was all too late. Watching him deteriorate like that and continue to try and stand up to leave broke my heart in a way I can’t even describe. And NO ONE GOT IN TROUBLE? Jesus Christ what is this world...

Man that last case.. it might not bring back your son but some justice would prevent it from happening to somebody else's kid.

This last case is absolutely heartbreaking. this young man could possibly survive if help was provided on time. So sad.

Welp. I just ruined my kid's day with that . He has tears in his eyes.

Disgusting on every level. Stupid cops and a lousy "justice system". In a civilized society, the two killers would have been hanged, electrocuted, gassed or shot and all the police officers involved fired and sued.

Wow now that was fucked up

When I was a child a stray dog wandered into our yard and grabbed my weiner dog by the throat and shook it literally to death. It died in front of me with me screaming and yelling and kicking the stray to try and get it to stop. This man who shook his GRANDCHILD to death is worse than that vicious stray dog. He deserves whatever is in store for his future. ... I'm sure it's not pretty.

actually physically painful watching ryan be interrogated. when the detective touches his head and he says "ow, my head hurts", i lost my breath. So so sad, the first time iv ever had a difficult time watching these videos. the quote from his parents was also heartbreaking

I watched video of the shooter in the Texas church murdering two folks and then getting domed from 50 feet by security and didn't bat an eye. I was squirming throughout the Ryan Waller portion and barely made it through. I don't know what that says about me but that was truly heartbreaking

The incompetence of the detective and cops for the last case is completely unbelievable and truly disturbing. It's a real damn shame that the internal investigation found no wrongdoing. Fucking ridiculous.

What kind of procedure is that, that they don't get a doctor or a medic to check over a guy with a hole in the nose and a black eye before interrogation? Even if it was his fault and he was only just beaten a doctor should check a person over to determine person is healthy enough to be interrogated? So sad how people focus on an idea of a typical scenario they are seeing, wanting to make it a story, a juicy story they can brag about and disregard everything that's happening in front of them!

I couldn't watch the last part entirely. I was afraid of braking something.

Oh my god that kid, holy shit. That guy had better not have that job anymore.

surely the detective in the last video got fired! he is incredibly stupid and seems to have such poor perception. Whats the highest grade you went to high school? what the hell is wrong with him? seriously the poor guy has told the detective over and over what happened and he hasnt caught on yet? Just look at the poor guys bloody face!!!!

In a fair world, that investigator would get shot in the face, then detained and harassed until it's too late for medical treatment.

This is actually unreal. That DUMB detective should be put out of work or at least in another division. I suffered throughout the whole senseless interrogation.... You can’t have an idiot like that one interrogating ppl. I feel so bad for the poor kid and his family ☹️

Me too.

Hi Jim- binge watching but there are a few I cannot open?! Not sure why! 😭

My heart goes out to the parents of these kids. I would hate to be that detective & have to live with myself after this. Thank you for sharing this Jim C. Swim. I really enjoy the narration in these videos.

Ryan Waller case, all the Desert Hills Arizona cops involved should be fired and sued. Let's remember this was 6 hours not just the 45 min interview. Sickening police behavior. Very hard to watch but important. Thank you JCS.

This was incredibly hard to watch. The kid is in obvious pain and delirious and all the cop cares about is the "case" and his stupid table. Unfathomable

#thinklikeacop Those police officers should be tarred and feathered. Disgusted with the actions taken in the last case.

I think they should have sued but instead of money they should have gone for their jobs. Everyone down the line that neglected to see the severity of his injury. Let them guard Wal-Marts since they cannot manage the critical observation needed to be a police officer.

The Ryan Waller story is so heartbreaking. I really think the cops messed up on this one. I mean 6 hours in the back of a cop car, Interrogatin?? This boy might have had a chance if they would have gotten him some medical attention when they first found him! My heart breaks for both the Quan and Waller families.

I

please could you post the subscriber vids somewhere else JCS bc I cant even navigate this mess of a website

This patreon website is totally MESSED UP at least on my phone

i'm honestly pretty shocked his family didn't sue. i wonder if there was some kind of hush-hush settlement.

there have been some recent updates regarding the diagnosis of shaken baby syndrome that have led to significant doubts in its legitimacy. this diagnosis has led to likely thousands of innocent people put in prison. it is now thought that many of these diagnoses were not supported by actual evidence of abuse (although it is important to note that of course abuse definitely still happens). what looks like SBS can actually be caused by a spectrum of innocent injuries, including traumatic birth. sometimes bleeding on the brain isn't observed for months after a seemingly innocuous accident and then when it is the caretaker is immediately vilified by police and cps. i have no idea if this man caused this baby's death; i'm just pointing out that SBS has a lot of issues as a diagnosis and in many cases it is no longer used in court. some jurisdictions are re-visiting older cases of SBS with new eyes. the "you're wrong about" podcast did an episode on this subject, and here is some reading: https://innocencenetwork.org/statementoftheinnocencenetworkonshakenbabysyndrome/ i saw the entire ryan waller video the other night and it utterly broke my heart.

Watching Ryan be interrogated was one of the most heartbreaking and infuriating things I've ever seen. I can't imagine what he went through. And I'm shocked it took that detective 45 mins to realize what he was looking at! I'm so pissed for Ryan and his family.

once he cuffed himself I had to bail. im so heartbroken for him.

I watched it. It was hard but Ryan deserved to have the story known by as many people as possible and nowhere near as hard as what Ryan went through. Not surprised no disciplinary action, but those involved had to live with it for the rest of their lives.

I am dumb-founded & heartbroken after watching Ryan’s interrogation; knowing all the facts. Thanks for the excellent, important work you do. God bless you, Jim.

How can so much incompetence fit into one person. I've never cried watching an online video until I watched Ryan's interrogation. I know some people say you have to be a sociopath to be any good at interrogation but this is a whole other level.

How could the detective not tell the guy shot twice in the head wasn’t really coherent?

Collin Smith

just finished it. No words.

No_me_digas

I couldn't watch the Ryan Waller one either ....

"She got shot and you didn't do anything as she was passing out?!" "Yeah, man, 'cause I got shot!" "Hey, that was before, not now."

Dire Weeb

I couldn’t watch the Ryan Waller one, skipped most of it, which I haven’t done with any of your other videos. As people have already said I hope law enforcement are held to a higher standard as it’s absolutely unacceptable for a person to be denied proper care regardless of if they are a suspect.

felt exactly the same :(

I can understand why his parents made that decision. I don’t think I would be able to deal with it all either due to utter shock and pain. But I would then get angry so it never happens again and sue them if I could later. People need to be aware to make sure there is a duty of care taken and aren’t we all presumed innocent until proven guilty. Apparently not. Rest In Peace Ryan. I hope you and Heather are in a happier place and can never be hurt or treated badly ever again.

Ryan’s interview has been the first JCS video I haven’t been able to get through. Way harder to watch than any of the highly violent stuff on here. Hopefully police are being held to a higher standard and scrutiny these days. Rest In Peace Ryan & Heather.

"If they shot with a revolver in the eye, you wouldnt be talking to me right now" - what a fucking idiot. close your little fucking suitcase and get lost, Mr Truth. i just cant put my feelings into words for Ryan's case.

I am heartbroken. Poor guy.... I can’t imagine the suffering he endured and still remained patient with the detective.

it's the only thing they want.

my friend calls it siege mentality. it's incredibly important that we all understand what the world must look like from their perspective. Police must feel so threatened. And that their training emphasises this is awful but at the same time pragmatic to some extent, right? unfortunately i've known many people who do consider the police to be an enemy, a target. pot smokers etc. it's disgusting. must get to the police. thus many of us have been complicit in behaving in ways that lead to the siege mentality that infects this interrogation. some dudes do pull this kind of thing to disrespect police and they think it's funny. Or they are unable to take responsibilty for themselves and become scared and pathetic and hope to garner sympathy by acting like they're unwell. In Australia we call it 'white coating', pretending to be disordered to avoid prosecution. but the four bullet holes .... it's unbearable to watch this and i wish i could sit a few guys i know down and have them watch this but i guess if they didn't see what i see.... and i'm not sure they would. i am so sorry. and thank you for your work as an EMT. you guys are awesome. i hope my meaning is clear. i'm a little undone and its only a few minutes into Ryan's interview. i. just. can't. believe. what. i'm. seeing. but like you good Ambulance Person i have watched people behave in ways that have contributed.

Heartbreaking. To think Ryan's life could have been saved. I was cursing through the whole interview. And NO disciplinary action? There was no malicious intent, but the outcome is just so horrendous. That poor family...

Detective is clearly not listening, he only wants to hear what he wants to hear and nothing else matters.

Law enforcement finished what Richie and his dad started. This can happen again. This happens now. I was an EMT 30 years ago at a level 2 trauma center near a casino. Officers are being done an injustice and trained to perceive the public as threats, liars and a potential case. Until training is overhauled and perceptions are shaped positively from the top down, these cases will keep happening and it’s only luck this one was caught on camera.

That police department is so lucky they weren't sued. That would have been an open and shut case for millions of dollars. If it makes you guys feel any better, I work as a medic and law enforcement will call us out for the smallest of injuries nowdays just in case. Lot less likely something like this would happen again. RIP Ryan

That was hard to watch. That poor poor kid. That police officer made me sick to my stomach

That police department didn't even apologize. They couldve at least reached out and said they were deeply sorry. That's pretty sad.

That Ryan Waller case was surreal and bizarre.. Rest In Peace

james

I'm "never not shocked" that there will always be someone in the comments bashing an institution consisting of ~3 million people. That's 4.5% the population of your homeland. I came here to voice my disgust like everyone else and came to find your ignorance and bigotry instead.

Wow so sad, thank you for bringing this case attention

Probably one of the saddest things I've watched, Ryan won the lottery surviving that attack and his 2nd chance was taken away. Very tragic

The ryan waller case is extremely upsetting. That poor kid and his family. I hope they sue that police department for ryans death.

Ade

wtf this makes me SO mad... americans are really so dumb sometimes it hurt so much to watch that

Right?! But people think the death penalty is so inhumane and unjust. If there is zero doubt of a person's guilt in a murder, the death penalty sentence should be carried out within a year imo.

YES!! "incompetence" is precisely the issue with much of what goes wrong with law enforcement these days. Added to cowardice, insecurity, arrogance and more.

Heartbreaking . . . I've never yelled at a laptop screen so much . . .

does the officer not know ryangot shot?

Man that was so hard to watch... so sad for Ryan

I had to skip Ryan's part it was heartbreaking... how awful and no officers were punished for that abhorrent treatment of him.

Nope. I tried but I cannot do it. Poor poor Ryan, my heart aches for him and his loved ones. RIP brave boy ❤

I wonder how many officers saw Ryan before his interrogation? Police in Phoenix presumably receive a fair bit of medical training because they are first responders. The detective certainly wasn't a rookie, so he should at least have been removed from his role. But that's what you get when the police are allowed to investigate, judge, and sentence themselves. Tragic, and just 18.

Shit, I had to bear through that last one. Im thinking how the hell did they not notice something was off?!

Couldn't watch the last one.

the last one is tough

the last one...heartbreaking and infuriating, those cops should be charged with manslaughter

Last interview was unbelievable. Such severe incompetence.

The last one is incredibly terrible. He could have had a chance if it weren't for their ignorance... those cops will have to sit with what they've done for life. It's not just the justice system that's broken, it's the people in it.

bby4

This was so sad to watch. That poor poor man...

These cops were so thirsty to lock someone up they ruined this victims brain for life.

My heart is breaking for Ryan!

Donna

Absolutely disgusting...

DISGUSTING.

How do fucking COPS miss obvious signs of brain damage and internal bleeding? Wtf these cops need to go back to the academy..

That made me really sad

Kyle

If we had a justice system, the cops in the final act would be behind bars.

The third interrogation is infuriating.

I had to skip through that last one... it was just too infuriating and painfully sad to watch.

Wtf is wrong with these cops! It is painful to watch! I hope they were stood down and held accountable! This is one of the highest forms of police misconduct and negligence I've seen. Appalling!!

That boy should've been assumed INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. What the hell? I wanted to punch that interrogator, he almost seemed sadistic.

I agree. I belong to a number of groups on FB that support men's rights and father's rights. They do excellent work and often have rallies, protests etc to support men, especially in family court. Try and get behind the cause, it helps.

Prime example of male disposability. If it was him dead on the floor and his girlfriend bloodied on the couch, think she'd be in the back of a police car for six hours? I don't fuckin' think so.

Zakkuri

This is one of the most painful and heartbreaking things I've ever seen. Damn.

Absolutely diabolically reprehensible conduct from the Police. I'm disgusted!!!!

you should post this on ur main youtube, these mother fuckers need to be called out.

“No disciplinary action was taken” towards police. Every single time they mess up nobody is held accountable. What a goddam surprise. Nothing makes me angrier.

features creatures

That young boy went through Hell...shot in the face, agony, eyes removed, loss of independence, brain damage, seizures and death, while the people who did this to him get 3 squares and a bed!

Well that's the absolute worst detective in the history of mankind. Oh what he's saying doesn't make sense? Yea no shit maybe see if the kid is okay? What a scumbag.

Get Jim Smith to get him to confess to accessory to murder. He'd get it done.

That detective is guilty of manslaughter. I understand how the family didn’t press charges because of the pain but big lawsuits for things like this make real positive change.

It took me a couple of hours to view that last video. I, for the first time, felt nauseated while watching the interrogations. And those poor parents... God fkin damn it.

I have never seen anything as distressing as that last video. How no one lost their job is beyond me. It's absolutely disgusting what happened to that poor guy.

I agree it was very hard to get through. During the entire video I could feel anxiety settling in at the thought of how confused and helpless he must have felt.

The last video make me nauseous and I have a strong stomach. I’m from England, and never not shocked at the lack of training amongst US police forces. And their ability to lose all empathy, and ignore the right thing to do - morally, when serving in the police force.

Ryan’s interrogation was by far the toughest to watch and I’m not someone who says this often. I am as often amazed by how skilled some detectives are as I am completely blown away by some of the most incompetent detective work a human mind can fathom....

I don't think I can get through the last video. Everyone involved with arresting that man and refusing him emergency medical services should be sued out the ass, fired and never allowed to work in that field or most other fields again (ban them to entry level, minimum wage jobs that require 0 clearances or background checks), and should absolutely do jail time, like nothing less than a few years.

That last one was the toughest yet to watch, couldn't make it through as a father myself.

That last video made me feel unwell, Jesus!

If you watch these videos and use them as a guide on how not behave you might just become a good person, The first man is a spineless little coward, to project your issues onto any living thing that cannot defend itself might be the most evil act any human can commit

Wow. I cried watching that last interview. Forreal.

Speaking as a CT Technologist, the signs of a traumatic brain injury on that kid were absolutely overwhelming. That was awful to watch, knowing that his brain was bleeding and doing irreparable harm.

the last interrogation left my blood boiling, especially with the tragic outcome for both of their lives. i'd be very upset to find out if that interrogator still holds a position at that agency, or any agency. how can you not see a hole in a guy's nose and think that an interrogation rather than a hospital visit is the correct protocol? completely baffling.

And that last interview infuriates me to no end! I saw that before and my god I would fire that interrogator on the spot and make sure he never worked in law enforcement again. He's fucking disgusting. ANYONE would be able to tell that this guy was seriously injured. What common practice says it's okay to interrogate *anyone* in a position like that? And he seems to absolutely be on some sort of power trip making sure he gets a response to literally everything he says. Even at the end he says he's going to get medics to look at him. He doesn't respond so the interrogator forces him to respond to "Did you understand what I said?" Why does that even matter dude? Just get the fucking medics. You don't need a yes sir response to freaking everything. Too many in law enforcement are drunk on power today, I swear. If they don't feel they're being respected adequately enough then they'll make sure they get whatever form of respect *they* deem is required to interact with them. Or they'll just arrest you because in *their* eyes you weren't respectful enough. They see "civilians" as a different class of people. A lower rung. As if they're children/teens that need to respect their elders And that poor family... I totally understand their reasoning but if they would've sued they absolutely would've won and then some disciplinary action might have taken place. Instead this jackass gets off scotfree and likely thinks he's done nothing wrong to this day. He also likely still makes sure everyone gives him the respect he imagines he deserves too regardless of the person. What an ass.

That couple made me feel so gross. They don't care about anything but themselves. Robbing and killing people for the tiniest bit of money. Even though he says he didn't mean for it to happen that way this is what happens when you commit violent crimes. Here these people died violently after what seemed like a perfectly normal day to them and they sit in the same seat just thinking about themselves. I'm so glad she didn't get let off too because she had to have been a co conspirator or an accessory to the crimes at the very least. But I guarantee she had a large role to play. 40 almost seems too short given multiple people will never see life again. So awful

I'd give anything to see an interview with that detective after the fact

It will happen.....one day

Those poor parents. I can understand why they do not wish to face any new form of trial, just getting out of bed each day must have been beyond difficult after having to see this interview and watch the irreversible damage slowly overtaking his brain and destroying the poor lads sight. Thinking at least their boy was alive, with them regardless of the dedication and love needed to support someone with such injuries. Just to loose him later. MUCH RESPECT!

I feel so bad for the poor guy who got shot in the friggin head, what made them think it was ok to interrogate a obviously mentally incapable man. Wouldnt they know about his severe head injury???

Wow. I am sick. Poor poor kid. I wish the family would sue just to stop them from doing it again someday. I know they do not want money, but they deserve all of it.

I hope that one day the police dept will be held accountable for their negligence.

That was excruciating to watch that poor son being interrogated. Heartbreaking. How can that cop live with himself.

That last interrogation was just insane. How could it take that detective so long time to realize that he wasn't well, at all.

Anyone can be a detective if that person can.

Not My Real Name

That was horrifying. I don't care if they thought he was "just" beaten, he should have been taken to the hospital immediately. At least they should have checked the injuries instead of just assuming.

Ariel Brennan

Jim's videos show how perceptive and shrewd police interrogators are...how they can pick up on subtle body language and see through people's lies. And yet this detective Dalton couldn't tell that the man he was interrogating was seriously injured, even though there was a fucking hole in his face.

Is that last detective simple?

Couldnt feel more sorry for that kid

Wow the interrogation at the end was so painful to watch.

Just... damn. I barely made it through. Can’t even imagine hard it must have been to see/hear that multiple times, Jim. Props for the video, but now I’ll need several beers to be able to sleep tonight.

Could not finish the Ryan interrogation. But I do really appreciate it when you include things like this that show that the police are not infallible.

"we investigated ourselves and found no disciplinary action was necessary" -Phoenix PD

My heart rate went up watching the Ryan interrogation that detective should have been fired

Wow Jim, I really thought I had seen it all with your interrogation videos, but this last one was absolutely mind blowing. I never thought I would see such a twist in an interrogation...this kid was so messed up, how did they not realize it?! I got a concussion from long boarding a few years back and it caused my mind to be a complete blur for days, I couldn’t even remember what season it was! I can only imagine how bad it would be to have a bullet in your head and fragments of skull lodged in your brain...this is one of the most heartbreaking stories I’ve ever heard, with an outcome where literally nobody won. I hope that we can learn from this experience and prevent things like this from happening again.

I'm crying floods of tears hope to God someone pays for this

This is unbearable he's being torchered

Me too. That is one of the most horrible and saddest things I've ever seen.

I can watch a lot of stuff, but had to tap out of that last one.

honestly angry at that interview with the poor shot dude. he has obvious injuries, even if you think he's a criminal he still needs a medical check up

H.P Fuckcraft

These videos! Although it focus on the same thing, its amazing the difference of emotions you get of each questioning. I've seen all the videos so far, and I've never expected to feel what the 2nd interview made me feel.

Wait, are you kidding? The guy in the second interview literally robbed and murdered 2 people and concealed their bodies. He got what he deserved no matter if he told the truth or not. You don’t just get a ‘get out of jail free’ card for telling the truth when you murder 2 people. Nobody is at fault except the couple.

That was incredibly hard to watch. Very infuriating that this guy was interrogated like this when he clearly needed medical attention. Great video once again though.

Andrew Parmeter

The third interview broke my heart. Every time he said something that truly happened in the case, my heart kind of lifted, thinking this detective would just let this kid go. While the arresting officers seem to be the ones completely at fault, I just cannot get over this detective and just his lack of common sense. I'm absolutely disgusted by the lack of communication between officers and detectives as well as the general negligence. Edit: typo, accidentally said second when i meant the third interview

How does a cop...sitting that close...not realize a gunshot to the face? Multiple bullet holes in a persons face!? How?

It’s shocking how so many police officers are more worried about their cases and finding someone guilty than they are about finding the truth. This case is appalling and I wish the family would’ve sued the shit out of the Phoenix PD and city.

Fuckin hell. And the reporter just glazed over that. He was ONLY "badly beaten", so let's stuff him in a car for six hours and interrogate him before even checking him out. Detective Magoo over here was so focused on being a hero he failed to notice the person sitting three feet from him had been shot in the head twice.

I can’t believe how grossly negligent those officers were. This kid was already fucked up, they didn’t have to add to that and shorten the life he could’ve had.

Thank you for the serious warning. I have decided not to watch it as i know my limitation. Really respect how you deliver your content.

Martha Cat

final one was a seriously hard one to watch, but I came out with lot of respect for the family for the end. I felt physical gratitude for my good eyesight through the use of my eyes. A lot of these videos tend to make me thankful for having great parents.

This was what I was thinking too. The arresting officers who detained him in the first place are to blame. He should have been put in an ambulance immediately. The detective didn't have very good information to go off of. If I was presented with the same information, I don't think I'd immediately think this awake, alive, and somewhat alert man was shot in the head. He eventually put it together, and I'm sure it tore him up. Just a tragic situation all around.

Cory Soto

How absolutely heartbreaking

Nick

Wow he’s lucky that wasn’t my son.

100% truth spilled out....well you're not even close to telling the truth....Right on Detective, you're a real human reading machine. Fucking idiot.

Chasity Walraven

No action was taken

Linus Wärn

Infuriating!!!

Wtf guy was shot in the head twice for god sake. sad.

I cannot fathom that those detectives couldn't see that he needed immediate medical attention?! I don't know if I can finish this holy shit

Jesus this is heartbreaking how stupid that detective was to not understand something was seriously wrong with that kid. It became immediately obvious within the first few minutes that he needed serious medical help right then and there. I mean just the fact his face looks like that would be enough for me. He keeps referring to death as going to sleep, what in the hell?

I couldn’t get thru the last case. I’m not strong enough

That poor young man, he was saying he wanted to go to sleep BECAUSE HE WAS FKN DYING FOR GODS SAKE. Where was the duty of care? A disgrace. I hope he gets shot. Idiot. That was heartbreaking.

the interviewing cop isn't really dense. as far as he knows it - this is a suspected killer who may as well be insane or playing it up. whoever made the decision to take him in for interrogation rather than give him to the paramedics is the culprit. i hope whoever it was lost his or hers job.

Oh that last case was horrifying. I was so mad at that officer.

The last case is horrifing, I certainly hope that police officer was either demoted/fired. He has a freaking hole in his nose, his story is all over the place, "Bows and arrows"??? surely the police officer has some medical training? He looks over the wounds, says to him "there is no point in doing this, you need to go to the hospital" uncuffs him, and talks for another 15-20 minutes......

at the end of the video he states that there was no disciplinary action taken after an internal investigation was conducted and the family didn't sue

I’m just glad phoenix pd did actually catch the Richie and his dad. It doesn’t make up for they put Ryan’s through but it’s better than nothing.

Jesus that last one was harder than watching an isis video. It reminds me of that recent case of the woman who drowned during flooding and the 911 operator didn’t take her seriously and even chastised her as she’s died. Jim should do a vid on that one.

I can’t even begin to fathom why he wasn’t taken to the ER in that condition. The investigator would know the difference between someone lying vs someone seriously injured sooner than 6 hours. I can understand the family wanting their son back but sometimes you have to sue to make a statement for others. Our justice system still remains innocent until proven guilty that was complete and utter bullshit. @jimcantswim i’m a huge fan of your work but that literally ruined my fucking day. There are no words

Jim: "…and they were roommates!" My OG vine knowledge: "Oh my god, they were roommates…"

Poor Ryan. :(.

Awful. Just awful what happened to Ryan and his girlfriend.

“Only appeared badly beaten”. Oh, well that’s okay then. Jesus Christ. That cop was dense as hell, too. Just look at the poor kid. Holy fuck.

Just because 25 is a maximum sentence doesn’t mean you get out in 25. Maybe do some research before you insult a country.

I really need to know what happened to the detective in the last case. If nothing, he needs to hear what we feel about this. It has disturbed the fuck out of me. I have seen terrible shit, this one ranks up there with the worst because it legitimately is watching him torture the kid. He was tortured sitting there.

That is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen. Can't imagine sitting watching that as his parent. Godspeed buddy.

Canada full of cucks. They don’t even have mandatory life there. 25 is the maximum years you can get. What a joke

Arrested 3 months later that family better not have had to put to dog down! fuck this guy... im 2 mins in

mike

Good lord it only took that absolute dipshit 47 minutes to realize this kid is in serious need of medical attention. He should be fired.. Out of a cannon into the sun.

Im beyond disgusted. It does not take a goddamn professional to realize the kid needs to be in a hospital bed. Those were not true professionals. Absolutely disgusting.

Poor kid, great video though, keep em comin!

The lack of empathy and compassion from LE is egregious. It is very obvious the kid is suffering from head trauma. I get that this is "just another day on the job" for the officer, but wow. Thanks, Jim, keep up the good work! xo

My father was in an accident 2 years ago that left him with a TBI and that last one is the first one I haven't been able to finish. The blatant damage that's been done to that poor man's brain and the complete lack of awareness from the interrogator is just so deeply upsetting. Fascinating stuff but finally found something that pushed my buttons a bit too much.

That poor kid, I wanna slap that stupid cop!

How the f***k did no one even get disciplined??? The kid was severely injured and clearly had severe brain injuries. That is just absolutely infuriating. Phoenix police best be glad that wasn't my son...

Smarmy assed self righteous detective....this infuriates me.Poor kid.

I’m so angry at that last one. That poor boy was a victim and they let him die. I hope they think about that for the rest of their lives. Scum bags.

At least he would have the hamburger he’s paid for! And also people are paying all different amounts so you can’t decide it’s value. The whole reason I signed up here was for access to more than is uploaded on YouTube etc as I thoroughly enjoy his work. However, now he is earning good money off this platform,I thought the idea was so he could do this full time? I don’t want to be mean to anyone but it does seem a little pointless, regardless of the amount.

This Patreon currently gives about $20k a month to Jim (and his team), that should be enough to have some more regular uploads. I understand a lot of time and effort goes into Jim's videos regardless.

the last one is heart breaking.

Every single cop involved in the last case should be in jail. At least the piece of shit who interrogated that poor kid should've been fired. I'm so fucking pissed. I usually watch JCS videos multiple times, but I don't think I can watch that last one again.

fantastic video jim! looking forward to the next one! hopefully very soon :^)

I cant believe they had him in there when he was shot in the head wtf

Cmon Jim we need MORE plz

Eagerly and frantically waiting for more JCS.

Like the pimp says to his hos, keep em comin'

More Jim more please!

JIM WE NEED MORE

The poor family. His life and sight might have been saved with immediate care, but the horrible neglect and treatment he received... the officers should be criminally charged.

Nikki Hackborn

You can. Go to 'My memberships', click Edit on your Jim C. Swim membership and increase the amount from there.

What a shitty detective. He should be sued for any damages that boy suffered. He couldn't tell he wasn't making sense???? and the chunks out of his face? like?? what??

I would gladly pay more for more videos. If that is ever an option, I’d level up.

Hey guys, I love your content, but I feel since you have a team of people, there should be more of a consistent work ethic with posting. Either way enjoy your videos guys and keep the quality content up

Zuri

*hit

Cmon Jimmy, next one please !

Hey bud, whens the next drop?

Jay Kraft

i second this motion!

of course nothing happened to the frigging pig.

Jim where you at man. We need another hit.

Weak.

My god . I lasted 2 minutes into the last one and could feel irreparable harm start inside me. Could not watch anymore. Literally could not watch it. My god.

Rebecca Marler

OMG. That is SO clearly brain damage. Hasn't he ever spoken to someone who has had a stroke???? UGH.

Same!

Had to turn that last one off. wtf

This page is the only reason I signed up on Patreon.

Same here. Worth more than $1 a month. Only one I felt was worth the effort to sign up.

I NEVER thought I would sign up to patreon, but you did it Jim, keep 'em coming!

Wow, this one really hit me hard.

Taylor Marnon

Where's the content feels like we get only one video of month

6+ hours......every minute he was not receiving care was causing further irreversible damage. Absolute negligence. im sure police are trained for this type of thing and i hope it has weighed on the minds of those policemen to this day because they very well might have caused his death and at the least his suffering in his final days.

Jesus. Tell me that detective can't ever EVER work with people again. edit: OF COURSE nothing happened with the detective. The dick even tried to further question him after he KNEW he had gunshot wounds in his face. Heck, he even friggin' mentions entrance and exit wounds to the firemen!

Paul Martens

Shit! that was heart breaking. How can people be so incompetent. That detective was being so hostile to the poor guy. how do you get to be a detective when you can't even detect the person in front of you has been shot in the face, madness.

Looking forward to next upload

I can see how the detective would have been in an odd place with him making it this far with those injuries and nobody noticing. Leading him to believe the guy was good to go. However, the second that dude said bows and arrows and the 5th time he said he wanted to go to bed should have made it clear something was not right.

Of course no displicanry action for the police. They should be charged criminally. If a citizen ignored this person who was shot in the head and let them suffer for that long they would already be in jail. Cops have NO accountability

I cant believe he was shot in the head and was walking around and Talking....did the cop not see his face!? this is so bad

My day just got better. Thank you Jim.

Even though I knew it would be rough, I didn't know why. There aren't a lot of things that catch me off guard, but I admit this was one of them.

Gd

fucking hell that got dark

Damn this second cop is really stupid. Has he no FEEL for honest responses???

So many people screwed up, it's hard to believe how badly botched that turned out.

I cant wrap my head around why first responders pronounced and bounced without evaluating the second victim

I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep after that last one. That poor young man - he was victimized twice.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Plus even if it’s evident the person is guilty the police should always make sure they are taken care of for any injuries because then no one can say the police treated them with disregard blah blah. This was so sad. Maybe the kid wouldn’t had made it either way even if he would have gotten medical attention sooner. Who knows. But this was truly a case of negligence on the police’s side. Yet no one was disciplined. If the kid would have been a minority the media would have been all over this calling white men racist. Just saying.

It was hard going but I lost it when they said they had to remove poor Ryan's eyes. Only 18 years old. May he rest in peace.

Beatrice Soila

That poor kid, Ryan. My heart is breaking!! And the parents didn't even sue... God bless and keep them

Mar Mai

Even if he WAS suspected of killing his girlfriend, why not take him to the hospital first, THEN interrogate?

I feel compelled to comment, despite surely repeating hundreds before me... I simply cannot fathom the mindset of the interrogator, nor the entirety of the police force in this case. It's as if this guy doped himself on criminal investigation and "who-dun-it" videos and was so hellbent on uncovering the "game" this serial killer was playing. He seemed to think this was some seasoned crim who was giving off random answers on purpose, but it wasn't random on purpose; it was clearly totally incoherent!! And this, as many have said, was happening while the "suspect" had a RIDICULOUSLY OBVIOUS BULLET WOUND IN HIS FUCKING FACE!!!!!! What did he think it was!? A finger punch with really sharp nails? An assault with a titanium toothbrush? A post-murder drill accident gone wrong?? I mean, it doesn't really matter though does it? He needed to be cleared by medical before entering that room... what an absolute disaster.

I disagree, He just comes off as heartless here. He truly doesn't give a shit about the well-being of the kid and I'm pretty sure the only reason he called for an ambulance is because the kid couldn't physically respond anymore

There was no good reason for him to interrogate that kid while he had a hole in his face, a partially fractured skull and possible bleeding in his brain!! There is not ONE SINGLE PIECE of information that could be admissible in court in his condition!! What on God's green earth was he doing??!?! Honestly the detective was less logical than the kid in that interrogation, and that's scary!

I literally fucking cried about Ryan Waller realizing he died. Breaks my fucking heart

JCS you HAVE to bring back the intro!! I love it so much its perfect

can u PLEASE drop a new video

and thank you all!!!

It’s almost Halloween. I’m off tomorrow. I need a dead man’s float even if Jim can’t swim!!

How did the detective notice the two holes in his face 40 minutes sooner

Omg that last one. I'm ill

The way the kid was struggeling in the last vid made me puke out a perfectly good bowl of nibbits. What a waste.

At 41:00 minutes that detective realized he fucked up

Tyler Lavoie

I hope the officer who interrogated that dude got fired, how do you not notice the damn bullet holes in his head

Tyler Lavoie

That last story was absolutely horrific. That poor kid.

I don't understand why the detective continued with the interrogation, even if Ryan had only had a concussion, surely anything he says wouldn't be admissible in court due to the lack of cognitive awareness/functioning.

that detective should be in prison forever

Welp that detective is a fucktard.

I've experienced something like this personally. Many years ago, at winter here in Oslo, a woman was sitting on a bench. The police were called several times, because it was cold and she was just sitting there, but they just concluded she was really drunk and didn't do anything and maybe she asked them not to. Finally a friend of mine was going home and decided to take her with him so she could sleep it off. When he woke up the next day, she was dead. It turned out she had slipped on the ice and cracked her skull. If I recall correctly, she hadn't been drinking at all. Everyone just assumed.

How can you look at someone with HOLES in their HEAD and not take them to the hospital first? Like what the hell?? Especially combined with his behavior, that should be an immediate red flag.

Why are you hearting the last one?

I think I need therapy after that last case... Jesus Christ

Emily Chirnside

Thanks JCS!

That was GREAT but we neeeed MORE!

So what’s up.

Superb Content. I love you Jim!

I'm sobbing my eyes out now after watching this. How in the hell can the detective not see that Ryan was seriously hurt? RIP Ryan!

kiu (aka kirstine)

I'm sobbing my eyes oo

kiu (aka kirstine)

The last part was simply too difficult for me, the kid who was shot in the face... I couldn't bring myself to watch it.

Jonathan Berman

anyone with even the most basic training in combat life saving or even first aid would have recognized those signs. I can't even begin to imagine what possessed these officers to not render or offer any sort of aid.

That interrogator is a pig. Even a one year old would have noticed something was wrong. U meet someone and assume he is badly beaten why not take him to the hospital first? Ryan was clearly in severe pains. RIP Ryan. Gone too soon.

Just wanna say that I love all your stuff. I've followed you on YouTube for the longest. And yesterday I finally joined your Patreon.

Heartbroken doesn't even begin to describe how I feel watching that guy try to answer questions. I seriously can't believe they brought him straight to an interrogation room. Pure neglect and/or thoughtlessness.

I usually watch every second of Jim’s vids... but reading these comments has deterred me from the last case. I don’t think I can watch somebody suffer from brain trauma after suffering it myself. Maybe one day, but not today.

Yeah that interrogation and the hidden perspective videos are actually too much for me and i watch True Crime stuff all the time

i listen to and watch true crime stories daily and i have never had to stop in the middle of one to decide if i can stomach it or not. im stopped at 24:50 and i dont think im going to go on. i am working towards a degree in neuroscience and i also work in multiple ERs, and i have never seen a patient with such severe altered mental status due to a traumatic brain injury. the police in my town are also very involved in the ER and often bring people in for medical clearance, so i believe they would be able to identify the neurological signs of brain trauma. it was so obvious that ryan needed help and it makes no sense to me how none of the police officers involved picked up on that. they can't all be new at this.

That one was awesome. My favorite crime stories.

Fire the Detective. He has little understanding of pshycology if he cant recognize the damage in Ryan's brain in the first three sentences.

zSauce

Bare with my long comment. Let me know what you guys think of this observation and alternate way of thinking. I'm glad his parents did not carry through with a lawsuit; Ryan's death should be punishment enough for PPD. It is extremely hard in the society we live in today to remember that money cannot hold the weight of death like a human can. I hope his parents are okay now. I hope they are okay soon.

The last story broke my heart! Absolute negligence on the part of the police, that poor young man was obviously in bad shape and the fact that they would rather point the finger at him instead of helping him is a disgrace. His family must be absolutely devastated. I hope the perps rot in hell. As for the grandfather killing his grandson, I was livid at his self pity I hope they lose the damned key for his cell. I found this episode such a great piece from beginning to end.

After thinking about Ryan's case for a little over a week now, most of the thoughts I've had are of the parent's decision not to sue. It's one of those questions that as a person watching we cannot help but think what we would do in that position. Honestly speaking I think we put ourselves in the parents' shoes because we can't bare to put ourselves in Ryan's. This is not a bad thing, just a normal human observation we all share. When the question of lawsuit arises I thought, "I wish they didn't sue." Why I thought this, I don't know. I think it makes me feel better knowing money has a chance of not being everything. When Jim stated that parents did not sue PPD I must say I was just as surprised as we were all during this huge cluster cuss of a case. That is what I've been thinking about as we all ponder this unfortunate instance. I appreciate all of your opinions which is why I am going to share mine. When people get in trouble for doing something bad, sometimes they see getting in trouble as worse than the bad thing they did. If the Ryan's parents sued PPD would have continued as, "This cannot happen again or else we'll get sued," rather than, "This cannot happen again because Ryan died."

Only one I haven’t been able to finish. Absolutely disgusting

I couldn’t finish it so thank you for the update

He died

Well if the best witness in your case is unable to give coherent testimony it's really hard to figure out what happened. He never should've set foot out of the hospital. Imagine getting shot in the face and now even knowing it and getting arrested for it.

I feel deeply sick about the last one. That's insanity. I can't believe they didn't at least check him out. I hope he makes a full recovery.

I am shaking. How did they arrest the guy and not treat him? WTF HOW

Normally I'd have a few snarky things to say about how bad people are at lying but this is just sickening.

how do i access part 1.Interrogations please?

The last story was heart breaking ..Thanks again Jim

I agree. Some people assume they would be profiting on the death of their son, and won't sue...but you MUST hit them in the pocketbook to make change happen.

Well said.

Ashlee Turner

thank u for bringing us controversial, and difficult subject matters for viewing, jim. it is why i subscribed to you a year ago on YouTube and videos such as this are exactly why I will continue to pay for your content. Extraordinary.

Holy shit, it's making me genuinely furious that Ryan's detective doesn't recognize the VERY clear brain damage and the perfectly circular hole in his nose that's so obviously a bullet hole. The footage is INCREDIBLY grainy, and my first reaction when he sat down was, "Oh, there's the bullet hole, right in his nose." Meanwhile, this dipshit is treating him like dirt when it's so obvious something's up with his brain. Like even if he somehow didn't notice the bullet holes, he should've at least been able to recognize the lack of cognitive function Ryan had. If you're not gonna hospitalize him (which should be your first fucking priority, even if he did kill somebody), at least treat him with some degree of humanity. "You're not making any sense, Ryan!" No shit dude, his skull's filling with blood and there's a hole in his brain.

Jack Landis

Same, skipped almost the entire second half. Infuriating is not even a strong enough word.

Sorry Jim, had to skip through most of that last one. I couldn't stand hearing they boy's distress and pain :'( I feel horrible. I also just... don't understand how he never got any medical care whatsoever.

I want to strangle that detective! How does a person like that get a job. America is frightening.

My thoughts exactly. I've never hated someone so hard. That interrogator should be fired.

Harry

that last one is so heartbreaking :(

Jaena Ennis

I just couldn't watch this last part all the way through... It's just so... so... fucked up! I'm sorry but I'm not even partially suprised that it happened in the US. In every civilised country in the world if there's blood on someone found in the crime scene you need to clear him/her medically first. You can handcuff him to the bed, stop anybody from seeing him, sedate him to make sure he won't screw up investigation but... Jesus... Even if he killed his girlfriend, there's no "life as a vegetable in prison" punishment in US criminal law system, is there? And at the same time - I totally support parents' decision not to sue. They would win without a problem but in the long run - they would take money from the whole community.

Can't put blame on the officer? That guy is allowed a gun and state authority?? Classic case of an incompetent retard selfishly seeking a 'good boy' pat from his superiors. This is basically torture.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Cant put too much blame on that interrogation officer though. I mean for 6 hours this guy was suffering before he interrogated him. Whole police department failed him and his family.

That cop was unbelievably and criminally stupid. The whole story is such a tragedy.

That last one!!! <3

I cannot believe the family did not file a lawsuit against that police department. I understand not everyone is a medical expert but even though I have zero training in any of these areas I can put two and two together. Just having an EMT or I guess in this case a firefighter take a look could have possibly saved not only his life but his eyesight. I don't know what was going through the investigator's head but that's beyond incompetent. I don't think disciplinary actions would have changed anything but the family most assuredly should have filed a massive lawsuit to make sure that never happens to anyone ever again. Great video, thanks for taking the time to put it together.

The signs of severe brain damage in Ryan were so obvious that it blows my mind that no one took him to a hospital. Talking in circles, fixation on one goal, slurred speach, basic speach patterns, the inability to remember basic facts like Heather's last name or that she was his girlfriend, the list goes on and on. What a garbage detective.

That detective is a fucking idiot.

Wtf is this detective's name?

At a very basic level human decency has to take control. Without any context or hindsight you can immediately that Ryan was in no state to be questioned. The officer isn’t the only one to blame of course but it speaks to a level of cruelty/indifference at all levels that is simply inhuman.

Every moment watching it made my stomach churn. I feel helpless and angry.

That last case truly beggars belief. Third-world care in a supposed 1st-world country. The officer must surely be deficient in basic human instinct to not have seen something was seriously wrong. Poor kid - my heart goes out to his family.

Yup.... I'm angry. I'm beyond Angry. And the family should sue just to prevent this from ever happening again. I don't usually comment this much but darn guys.... I'm soooo angry. As the mother of a 21 year old and 23 year old son... I am enraged at this. Every single person should write a letter demanding that man be fired. Every single week. Until he is.

I really should wait till the end to comment bc oh I just get angry and have to say something but IVE HAD a severe head injury and holy crap I felt like a heard of elephants were tramping on my head... When he said the fire department was coming I waited and waited on NEEDLES.... praying they'd hurry!!!!

Ohhhh myyyy God! He told them over and over he was shot in the face.... The man Never even considered getting a nurse or calling medical???? I hope that scumbag gets some KARMA

Omg I now see he passed away????? Shhhh my heart just BROKE

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS KID WASNT TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL!!!!! THE LAST GUY.... THEYRE SO USED TO ASSUMING SOMEONE IS LYING THEY DONT EVEN GIVE A DAMN ANYMORE!!! I AM SICK BY THIS! I PRAY HE SUED THEM. TO PREVENT THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!

The Phoenix Police Department is terrible!

My jaw is on the floor.

I couldn't sit through the final interrogation. That was abhorrent.

It's horrible Ryan had to go through something so horrific

TinyMeowMix

Also I hope that any officer that had anything to do with Ryan not being escorted to the hospital immediately lives with the guilt for the rest of their lives. Scum.

I have never heard anything more heartbreaking, rest in peace Ryan, I'm sorry those incompetent peices of shit were so blindsided, poor kids life was stolen from him, as well as from his parents, I hope the perpertrators waste away in their own filth. They refused to file law suits because "it will not bring back their son, which is the only thing they want". Jesus fucking christ I want to cry.

Im absolutely devastated about the last one. Haven’t stopped thinking about it for days. I hope that detective and everyone else involved truly feels guilty for the rest of their lives because obviously they avoided real punishment.

Jesus the second interogator from the second story pissed me off. What a dam imbecile.

Thank you for expressing how you feel cause it’s exactly how I do as well. Well said. So sad. It’s disturbing

Benjamin Froehle

Trust me I felt exactly the same. Even if you couldn't somehow see the gaping hole in the poor guys face common sense would tell most people hmm, this kid ain't acting right. Maybe I should get my head out of jumped up ass and get him some help. Fucking infuriating!!!

the rage of 1000 burning suns courses through me while watching Ryan go through that absolutely ignorant dectectives interrogation. Holy crap i would have never thought the police could be so dense as to not notice or realise what a fucking gun shot wound looks like.

I agree, Jim does a great job at showing the far less fortunate from his over videos, I tried to think of an opinion on the last one, but nothing new came up, just what everyone else said, that the cop in that moment was not thinking. Even if he did do it, that's why you just send an officer with him to the hospital, not wait till last minute.

EarthsSingularity

I agree, everybody is entitled to a life of peace within reason, but that case in particular is very jarring

EarthsSingularity

I just can't wrap my head around the last one. I know how soppy this sounds soppy but that absolutely broke my heart, that poor boy 😞😢 that fucking idiot cop should have a bullet put through his face and be made to go through what Ryan did, his attitude -"you got shot in the eye, with a revolver"-look at the guys face you dumb fuck!!!!! That has to be one of the hardest things I've ever watched 😢 I usually re-watch Jim's videos, purely because they're entertaining, I definitely can't again with this one though.

Listening to stories about anyone being murdered is difficult, but hearing about babies is like my stomach being wrenched out 😞😞

Watching the acts committed in the video over what happens in some jails didn't phase me too bad but this last case did! I had to skip parts. So sad.

I love watching your videos, and am always intrigued by the interrogations, but this is the first time I had serious trouble sitting through the interrogation of Ryan. Knowing that he was sitting there with brain damage and holes in his face, while that fucking idiot of a cop questioned him, made me sick.

Brian was no longer being questioned. At this point he was charged.

I sincerely hope everyone involved in Ryan's case has trouble sleeping at night for the rest of their lives. Richie and his dad may have started it, but those cops involved finished the job with their pure ignorance and stupidity... it's fucking heartbreaking.

I sobbed through the entire last interrogation.

God, that is so horrific and sad. I agree with you 100%

I've seen quite a few graphic videos in my day, and while I'm always affected by them, there are very few that have ever "disturbed" me. The case of Ryan Waller is hands down the most disturbing piece of content I have ever seen. It's been several days since I saw the video and I'm just now coming back to comment, and even typing this now I feel a little sick. All I could think to do during the course of that prolonged, stomach-turning, inhuman interrogation was pray for God to have mercy on us all. Lord Jesus, please help us.

I don’t understand how the cop at the end couldn’t tell that Ryan wasn’t in the right mind and is speaking and acting in a way that he clearly has a major concussion/bleeding

Drew Hanak

Wow. How heartbreaking to watch. Once again, police are protected from disciplinary action when they clearly breached their duty of care. Devastating.

Innika Ackerley

On the first one ... it’s crazy how one comment by the suspect can incriminate him ... but the last one was intense I just wanted to back smack the cop 😤😤 like it’s obvious after 5 min Ryan wasn’t doing well even if he was just beat up ughhh 😠😠

I'm bawling right now. It's so horrible. I'm grateful JCS bringing it to light but damn it my heart breaks for this poor young man. Isn't it protocol to have an injured suspect medically checked out first?!

Jessica Figueroa

Police procedure regarding questioning a suspect sure is different from the U.S. In the U.S., after the Miranda warning is read questioning stops immediately once the person invokes their right to an attorney. The interrogator is not even supposed to comment on the case after that, as it can be seen as pressure or coercion to get the subject to talk

last segment.. incredible

Couldn't watch most of the Ryan Waller interrogation, too sad :( Surely it's against the law to deny someone medical attention when they need it, or at least to interrogate them when they clearly have a brain injury?!

Shit..we are living in a cruel world...

Tage Tveråmo

You show so much stellar police work on your channel that seeing the absolute bumbling idiot in that last interrogation was *extra* thoroughly infuriating. I feel so bad for that boy; I skipped through a lot of it because it was just so tedious, sad, and not going anywhere. Remarkable that it took the interrogator that long to think, oh hey, maybe this guy has a head injury...EVEN if you thought it was a beating rather than a gunshot, why is he not getting medical attention first :I Worse yet I very much doubt that anyone involved was reprimanded for that gross mishandling of the situation to prevent any similar things from happening in the future.

Mad Utzsar

it's the third segment on part 10 of this series

Andrew L

Did Jim ever upload the patreon video previewed at the beginning of the Michael Drejka main channel video? This doesn't appear to be it..?

That's probably one of the most disturbing videos I've ever seen. And I've seen some shit.

Wow!!! Dude just wow!!!! I have watched so messed up stuff on this channel but that last story took me two days... day one I watched the first half and got all away to the second half just up to the point where you explained the second one and had to stop... I count not take it. Good job on the production and break down of the videos.

Wow. So infuriating watching that dumbass detective just sit there and try to interrogate an obviously damaged 18 year old. Especially given that his death and or damages that he faced could have been avoided if they had just given him care from the get go. A big Fuck You to that detective and any officer who saw him and did not get help. Condolences to the family.

Probably FOIA

Does anyone know how the footage of these interrogations is found?

Ryan Waller's tragic demise due to police incompetence is haunting. I believe that Joe Arpaio was the sheriff at the time so I guess that type of cruelty was part of his legacy. I can't understand why the parents never sued, not for money but to force the department to change.

RIP Ryan Waller🙏

Oh my god. The situation with the guy that was shot around 30 mins in is *absolutely infuriating*. I swear to god! That interrogator would be fired if I had the power. How can these people be SO fucking blind and irrational?! He's literally looking at this guy with gunshot wounds in his freaking face and all the interrogator cares about is getting his confession! No examination by a doctor or anything. No. Put him in the corner of a room and interrogate his ass until you pull your confession out of a guy with brain damage with the mentality of a child or until he dies in the chair in front of you. Either way *oh well* I guess, huh? You're an officer and you're on a different level than the other humans. You're infallible! If you believe someone is guilty then they're subhuman. Fuck em. Manipulate them into giving a confession, act like their best buddy

Parents should sue. When appalling acts are conducted by either government agencies, or private corporations, the only way to influence a change in conduct is by hitting them financially. Those entities do not have moralities by their very nature. If anything, take the money and donate it to some sort of cause, or charity, or whatever- but the only way to effectuate change is to hit them in their wallets. Sad, but true

That ending was fucking terrible. I hate how the detective tried to make it seem like he was the one that was doing the right thing at the end. So heartbreaking.

I don't understand how he lost his vision. He was able to see during the interview? But his eyes were so bad that both had to be removed? FFS that poor soul...I can't imagine going through all of that.

Peter Sorensen

Im a 41 year old ex criminal and an addict. I have witnessed some disturbing stuff in my life.I have also seen all kinds of sick videos in the internet..And to me this is close to unbearable to watch. I'd rather watch los Zetas flail a man while he is alive again. (Atleast theres a small possibility hes a guy who deserves it.) Had to skip some of this. So painful it is to watch. If this guy can be a detective in your police, you guys are in deep shit. Are there no common sense required of police these days.? You can be found shot in your home and you dont end up in hospital, but in a police station.Holy shit.. Some welfare check.!!! R.I.P

Always have someone who is showing trauma looked at by medical professionals....wow why on earth would they leave a person in that state

not stupidity, he wanted to "solve a case." Its more like, NO EMPATHY and only concern for his job.

Oslo Zeimantz

Where are you from?

Nobody recognized the ''raccoon eyes'', which is often an indicator of a basal skull fracture. Who the fuck are these people. What incompetence...

America really is the most scary place ever. Absolute retards

fuck the police no justice no peace

That was the most frustrating thing I have ever watched. I’ve never wanted to punch my hand through the screen so bad

That kind of bruising on the face is indicative of broken bones - usually nose and cheek bones. There is no way on earth he should have been anywhere except in hospital.

Unbelievable stupidity by that cop in Ryan's case. How could you look at that kid and not immediately send him to the hospital?

family's statement at the end.. dam

dont spoil for others man

Wow. The state of that kids face, what the fuck were they doing interviewing him? Anyone with an ounce of sense can see that he should be in hospital under obs. And if he isnt making sense.. which the cop said several times, who wouldnt think brain injury?

You can find something on Ryan Waller but it states "When officers from the Phoenix Police Department arrived, they found Waller still conscious. He was able to identify the assailants and was taken to the hospital, where he had part of his brain removed and lost his left eye as a result of the gunshot wound. Detectives later learned that Richie Carver was a former roommate of Waller’s."

fucking shit! that was hard to watch ! the fuck!

I said almost the exact same thing to my wife when she happened to walk in. I can handle pretty much anything but that video made my stomach churn and I actually struggled to get through it. Surely when the cops showed up and saw him either unconcious or completely out of it with 'a black eye', a hole through his nose and no gun around him they should have figured that maybe he might not have been the shooter.

Oof just finished watching the ending. That hurts. Sad ending. But thank you JCS for bringing this man's story to light. Never would have heard about it otherwise. RIP Ryan and Heather

You would think a detective with a head that big, would realize way sooner than 45 minutes that that Ryan kid needed medical attention. Tough to watch and terrible that he kept trying to pin it on him, "why'd you shoot heather?" Eugh.

Christmas dinner is not necessarily on Christmas Day

Can anybody sue the police department aside from the family?

Yes, the third interview is heartbreaking and extremely hard to watch but am I missing something?? They were shot on Dec. 23rd right? They didn’t show up for Christmas dinner which I’m assuming would have been on Dec. 25th. I don’t understand why the police are being blamed for his deteriorating condition when he had already gone 24-48 hours without medical care. Did the questioning and keeping him awake cause further damage? I’m not a medical professional so I truly don’t know. They certainly didn’t help his situation by detaining him and questioning him, but I would think that a lot of the damage was already done. Maybe my timeline is off and I certainly agree that they should have at least seen to treating his injuries before interrogating him. Also, one of the news clips that I saw made mention of a 3rd roommate that was in the home when police arrived???? Wtf??? How could they not have noticed that one of their roommates was dead on the couch and the other severely injured???

that was the most horrific interrogation i've ever seen. there are no excuses for pressing on with questioning. if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck it's a f*cking duck. how could someone be so grossly incompetent?

I will never forget what I partially watched. Ryan Waller's situation was the literal worse police interrogation I have ever seen in my life. I have never felt so sickened about an injustice. I believe that the cop knew he fucked up after he inspected the eye. He left the room and from there it was damage control. Yet he continued interrogating (perhaps to seem innocent in the case of a lawsuit from the family?), which made my jaw drop. I hope that cop lays awake at night.

A lot of people here blame the cop 100%, but honestly, I really think the 1st aid response team shoulder half the blame. It's their fucking job, the interrogator here is dumb... But, he conduct this interrogation under the assumption the medical aid team had done their due diligence.

Jesus Christ. The fact that almost NOTHING comes up when you google Ryan Waller or anything about this case is absolutely sickening. Fucking unbelievable..

Jesus Jim, the frustration of watching Ryan get questioned while his condition got progressively worse was sickening. Amazing and impactful video, thank you!

Cops are allowed to continue an interrogation, though the suspect is also allowed to refuse to answer. Yet it can be hard

Pale Ale

He didn't notice the gunshot wounds in his face?

God dammit, and people wonder why many people hate or at are least wary of cops. The last story is why. There was one in my city. A jacket got stolen from a club, so the owner called the police. The police took the description of the thief and jacket. The cops started looking around. A random guy was out walking (its a bar/restraunt district so not unusual). He wasnt a criminal, had no record. He was wearing a similar jacket. Instead of approaching and questioning the guy, the cop flying body tackled him from behind, causing the guys head to slam full force into a wall, shattering his skull. Then they didnt give him immediate medical attention, instead they sat around waiting for the victim to get there and id the guy. Of course, it wasnt the thief or the coat. The man ended up a permanent vegetable due to brain trauma. And there was an inquiry and the cop was never disciplined or found to have done anything wrong. I know theres good cops out there just trying to put real bad guys away - doing the hardest job out there. But the good cops need to stand up when one of their own harms an innocent thru gross "cop malpractice" and say this is not ok! When they "circle the wagons" to protect cops who have done actual wrong, it makes them just as bad, imho.

child of cascadia

Wow. Just wow.that poor kid! He was clearly in need of medical attention. The police have a duty of care when people are in custody, and that poor boy shouldn’t have been left so long without medical attention.

I agree but it is so much easier to just squawk and scream about the evil police.

Wait, in the first one - so in canada do you not have the right to silence? In the US if you say i refuse to answer questions without my lawyer in the room advising me, they have to shut it down. The only time they can reopen it, is if during the process of releasing you/taking you in to custody you say something like "i wasnt there", thats considered a desire to reinitiate dialogue. But he makes an unequivacable statement of silence and they still continue the interview. Thats weird.

child of cascadia

Jesus that was one of the saddest, most upsetting things I’ve ever seen. Please watch with caution:

That last one was horrible. I won't call the cop an idiot. I believe that as a cop he's been told so many BS stories and excuses that he's become exstremely sceptical. And let's be fair, how likely is it that someone is concious enough to talk right after being shot in the head. That being said, the boy shoud have been checked by a doctor before questioning, but that is the fault of the system overall rather than just the cop

I really couldn’t watch this interview. My heart goes out to his family I can’t believe they treated him like a suspect before ever really taking a good look at his injury’s

Police officers can get tunnel vision. It’s usually the significant other/partner that commits a crime like this. I imagine it’s hard believing people when you deal with deception all day every day on the job. That cop didn’t pick up on the warning signs of a head injury, which is unfortunate, but his credit, most people don’t sit up and answer questions when they’ve been shot in the face.

Sarah

This was by far the hardest interview I had to watch. I've seen basically all the vids on here.......and I can stomach just about anything......... but there is something about watching someone suffering real time, whilst at the same time seeing some asshole totally oblivious to what is going on right in front of him that totally messed me up in a huge way. I don't think I will ever forget this...and to make it worst, the post-script to this story was like a huge punch in the gut. All I can say is that I'm so glad I decided to move from Florida to the UK 11 years ago.

thousands and thousands of times across the United States every day

great video

Yes EXACTLY!!!!

Ashlee Turner

That last one was AWFUL to watch! Just infuriating!!!!! There was no Justice in this case at all. I wish someone would have helped him.

Ashlee Turner

Sounds like the officer was too wrapped up in scoring a conviction to boost his career rather than checking Ryan's wellbeing.

this was a god damned rollercoaster.

Chavonne Kruger

the last one straight fucked me up

That cop should be charged. Cunt.

Can you do an episode on Teresa Stone and Pastor David Love on the killing of Randy Stone (Teresa's husband)?

Pls tell me why they keep interviewing him clearly he is tired. Is it worth it. I am saddened by the loss. Maybe if he received medical attention he would have survived

The first responder is who should be held responsible. This interrogator would have been told he was good to go. At least he spotted it unlike the people first on the scene. It's REAL easy to say "I would have done this or that", but unless you were actually in the cops position you can't really judge, his heart was in the right place.

Everyone is raging on the cop but lets bear in mind we all have the advantage of hindsight here.

Im about to freak out dude TAKE HIM TO THE HOSPITAL YOU MANIAC

JCS... I hope this is OK to drop right here.... Bc, it reiterates what you often tell us... Never Talk To Cops.... Here's why... https://youtu.be/i8z7NC5sgik

https://youtu.be/CRkC6NUZSCg His families chnl. Ryan Waller is their sons name. All the news clips are here and it appears it's his dad that responds to comments. So absolutely f..... heartbreaking

Em22

This is the chnl of Ryan's family and in the comments is where he announced that his son had passed away. It'll be 4 yrs this coming January. So damn infuriating and sad. All the news clips are in this video, if you'd like more info. I had to know more, and am still looking to see if any laws were changed as a result of this case. https://youtu.be/CRkC6NUZSCg

Em22

I can’t watch the last one.. i just can’t. I tried. It’s infuriating and it made me tear up just watching the first 5 minutes. I was SO hoping all the officers involved would be fired and charged alongside the shooters, but apparently there is no justice whatsoever in this case. This absolutely broke my heart.

What was the name of the last guy that got shot in the eye? I want to look up more information on this. It’s really hard to watch knowing he was shot twice and his girlfriend is dead. You would have thought someone with the fire department or an ambulance would have been there when they found them and at least checked his eye out since it looked so bad. Even if the thought was he was the guilty party it still seems odd no one checked his injury to his eye and nose before loading him in the the cop car.

I get that some cops lack the intellect of the common man, and are often more focussed on closing a case then the truth or even providing a basic human right. However, this last case absolutely disgusted me. I was even more shocked that the parents of the guy didn't lodge legal action action. I was hoping the video would end being told that they received a multimillion dollar settlement and the detective demoted to desk duty or even charged. It just shows the world is a crazy place.

The police would've been able to see 4 bullet wounds. You are guilty until proven innocent, and he was denied urgently needed medical care for no reason. To deny someone medical care is denial of a basic human right, it is maliciously done

Maybe it’s my own biases at work but as hard as it was to watch and as bad I felt for him. I don’t think this is a case of a corrupt or intentionally bad acting cop. He walked into a murder scene. Yes the kid had a black eye and was acting strange. But non of use would have realized those things were are signs of a head injury until Jim told us yes maybe the top should’ve known but they are very subjective symptoms. Now when they start talking about what happened to your nose and he looks at it and he still doesn’t realize it at that point he may be shown in capable of doing his job because it’s at that point you should’ve known right away. I always try to think of myself when someone else is in one of those situations and I am a good person I think and I think that most people are I just can’t put myself in a situation where the guy didn’t care that he was shot for didn’t wanna know that he was shot or knew that he was shot and didn’t care. Thanks again for such an awesome video as always Jim awesome awesome content

god that last one was hard to watch

i'm a very empathetic person, but even still i can get through some really heart wrenching cases. but that last case made me feel physically ill and i almost couldn't watch it. textbook example of how corrupt the police in america have gotten. an internal investigation, aka an investigation by themselves, where nobody has to get held responsible and they won't even give themselves so much as a slap on the wrist. the only time anyone is ever held accountable is the extreme, indefensible cases with strong video evidence like we saw with amber guyger. murder a child, choke someone to death on the pavement, murder a woman while sneaking around her house completely unannounced, have somebody "kill themselves" under your supervision, all perfectly fine if you can twist your way out of responsibility. at the very most, you get paid leave. and yet these officers all fight against cameras tooth and nail... really think about it. we need cameras because we cannot trust the people we give the duty of protecting the public. what a said fucking state of affairs. if we cant even trust the people who are supposed to protect us to hold themselves accountable, are we really safe?

Camembear

Also just to add "I got shot in the eye" "You got shot in the eye with a revolver *scoffs*" or w/e the sound he made was at that point You should most definitely be arrested and never work in law enforcement again, you sit there thinking this dude is lying with a face the way his looks bro, he has a literal bullet size hole in his nose the fucking pixely ass camera even shows. Holy shit. What fucks me up too is after finally noticing I would of been crying, apologizing, "like holy shit I basically fucking killed this guy for the rest of his life due to my incompetence" nope, lol just keep on asking questions. Also please dont be one of those people that dont do an action based on it not bringing a loved one back, that officer should of had a lawsuit filed against him for negligence/incompetence, You put other people at risk justifying a decision like that based on impossibilities. People should be held to a standard, that of which being to make proper judgement when working in law enforcement, its like a good 50% of the job.

Wow that interview... Was so sad.. I mean even if he was a bad person, shot 10 people, whatever the case, they had no reason to deny him medical evaluation prior to interrogation. Thats insanely fucked up. Everything they could of potentially had on him while his life is basically dripping away inside of his skull would be completely thrown away because he suffered massive trauma to the head. To have someone picked up at a scene looking like him and deny a Med-eval is just insanity and irresponsible as a police officer. Like said, even if this dude was guilty as hell of what hes being interrogated for, he didnt deserve to be suffering like that.

That last one is so sad. Poor guy. I wanted to strangle that detective. I don’t get how he could be so incompetent.

oh those phoenix cops should definitely receive disciplinary action I was so heartbroken watching that last one.

What a heartbreaking story. That was difficult to watch.

The last story made my heart hurt. That was brutal watching that kid who should have been dead already be treated so cruelly. He was essentially a dead man talking.. Luckily, only to reveal the people who had shot him. That was so hard to watch.

Holy shit. I’m physically ill watching this last interrogation. What a bunch of fucking morons.

They don't care, man. Their kid was brutally murdered and died after months of suffering. I think that would break me.

Zigzagman

acting stupid could have easily been ruled out with a medical examination.

you dont even need to be a paramedic to at least conclude that he had a serious head injury and send him to the hospital.

The shaken toddler footage was frustrating. The cab driver killings and sudden selflessness were revolting. The finale case with Andy displayed the most abysmal policing I've seen in a closed setting like this. I had to partially check out to sit through, I, too, felt the urge to retch. Didn't want the interrogator to even touch him, even though he'd be the first to realize the gravity of the situation. And of course I cried when I heard he perished later after losing his eyes. The parents should focus on the fact that this happened and wil again without preventative measures. I can't handle this shit.

Friedz

I think the extent to which they showed really drove the horrific point home. Important to recognize things like this. It is mind blowing how long it took the officer to put together that this kid had serious brain damage. If it skipped straight to the end the whole point would be missed.

Oh my God, that “detective” is such an arrogant condescending assfuck. Did you notice towards the end there when that cop had his “uh oh” moment after looking at the injury and suddenly was no longer concerned about Ryan’s feet being on “his table”...so tragic, so fucking tragic. Those parents are bigger people than most.

DerekJohn Boland

Holy shit the last one is VERY hard to watch...

So sad about te laast case

Unfortunately he lost his eyesight after being treated for his injuries, and had to live under the care of his parents until he passed away in 2016 due to seizure, a result from his brain trauma. The Carvers were given life without parole for first degree murder and attempted murder.

Oh my fucking god. I can't even watch the last one, knowing he's been shot twice in the head, I genuinely feel like I'm going to throw up, I feel so fucking bad for him. Can somebody sum it up for me? Did he remember/was able to express what had happened? Did he survive?

I understand the parents in the last case not wanting money to replace their son, but truly a lawsuit is likely the only way to hold the department accountable. Unless there is some negative repercussions from such a horrific incident, why would they ever put into place policies to prevent such things in the future?

wastrel

Had to skip ahead to get through the last one. I think it's an incident worth picking apart to figure out how many ways it went wrong, not real sure what there was to learn or gain from just 20 minutes of watching a kid suffer first. Would be interested to know what the decision behind the editing there was.

The last case had me in tears by the end of it. That poor kid.

has a wellness check ever ended without further harm or death coming to the intended recipient? no seriously, has it?

Those detectives should be fired in disgrace, if not bankrupted by civil suits. It’s too early to be this angry.

My god that last one was infuriating!!!!

The last one is hard...... poor lad.

I chose not to watch the last one once Jim set up the scenario. I don’t like cold cases and I avoid don’tinjustice.

Christ that last one is horrendous.

This Patreon is easily the best money I’ve ever spent. That being said, that last one was so painful to watch. I’m a 6’3 big grown ass man bawling like a little baby. Rest In Peace to Ryan. The police department murdered him that night.

This last one is so heart wrenching. Seriously the most difficult thing I've watched from you Jim and you've shown us some disturbing footage. My God.

PIGS!

vanceknoll

guys, I know this was hard to go through, but you have to keep in mind, that the interrogator had not seen Ryan outside of that room. also, as he went in there, what he knew, was what he knows every time he goes into the interrogation room: „this guy was processed by an officer and deemed fit for an interrogation. these facts I‘m holding in my hands are what I‘m working with“. considering, how easy of a choice it is to act stupid after having committed a crime, the detective had most likely had many people acting similarly before. The mistakes i see in this case, were: 1. not checking the clearly injured man in custody, as the medical team arrives (worst case being that the first responder had simply forgotten about that, as Ryan was already in the vehicle at the time) and 2. not considering both truth and lie in every statement the suspect makes (which would have halted the interrogation, when Ryan stated being shot in the head or him saying he had to go to bed, when confronted with the facts about Heather for example). the detective probably just trusted the officers and medical team too blindly, which would mean, that he had never - EDIT: experienced - someone - EDIT: making - a mistake like this - this last part being a good thing. Sorry for my english, I can only directly translate what I‘d say in German, so I hope it makes sense.

I think the last one was too long. If it were shorter, just a quick cautionary tale with the main symptoms pointed out, so that we can recognize them in the future, that would have been great. But this was really a torture for me as an audience.

Nope as soon as I found out the cops interrogated a victim who was shot in the head. I couldn’t watch it. How insanely stupid must you have been. To think interrogating him was the right choice.

I cannot believe the police actions in the last case. I’m speechless.

Watched the whole thing. Was hard cause I've been shot 17 times. Most to the body but a few in the head.

Did any one else just feel angry watching that kid go down hill during the "interview" Building a case who knows maybe that kid would still be alive. Jail time should come to these cops.

easily one of the most disturbing videos I've seen. wowzers.

oof

That last case truly upset me... imagine being the family and watching this afterwards! I'm in shock..

Watching this last case is just driving me nuts. I'm a paramedic, and I am simply dumbfounded this cop sits there looking at that HUGE black eye, and listens to him ramble on and on, and he doesn't think head injury. FFS, it's just pissing me off. This is so basically a head injury it isn't even funny. I had to stop it, and I don't think i can watch the rest. Even without the added narration, his head injury is so fucking obvious, the cop even pointed out the hole in his nose FFS. ARGH I just can't.

Joseph Brzezinski

he did say that, yes. so negligent and gross.

I remember watching that last case. I cannot believe how oblivious that cop is. The kids face looked awful, he was making no sense, and he even said he had been shot. Unreal. Who interrogates an obviously confused and injured person? He hadn't seen any paramedics at all. That enrages me so much. The parents could've got millions of dollars for that, no doubt, but it sounds like they were so devastated that it didn't even matter. Heartbreaking. Internal investigations are bs. Multiple cops fucked up criminally. Ugh.

That was fucked up Jim, jesus. I don't know what the general procedure is, but isn't a medical check part of it? Also, detective views him as a suspect, wouldn't it be in his favour if the 'suspect' was not completely fucked up and talking nonsense, while that can easily be dismissed in court? I feel like it's bad police work from the moment they came in to the house to the point they finally sent him to the hospital. Bad judgement all around. I feel so sorry for the parrents and definetly understand their decision not to follow it up in court. Hope many people in this field learned from this, how tragic it may be, so this can never happen again.

Is there nothing that can be done about the cops in the last video? This moron just gets to continue his life as normal?

WHAT the fuck. I'm shocked at the neglect shown by police in the Ryan case.

st0rk

Man, I'm so angry after watching that last case with Ryan Waller. That poor man and his poor parents...

Even if Ryan was just “badly beaten”, you still get him medically checked out. Period. Total negligence on the cops part and could’ve saved Ryan’s life.

RamsFan1986

The last case was indeed very hard to sit through. It is crazy to me that Police have the discretion to decide whether medical attention is needed for someone who they deem to be been badly beaten. Clearly an ambulance should have been called and they would have noticed straight away that he needed to go to the hospital. Also I am not sure if i heard correctly, but was it the Detective who said at the end 'I think he's showing signs of a head injury?' or something along those lines. If so it would mean he decided to continue to interview the guy while he suspected he had a head injury.. terrible

I can't find any info on this. Can you post a link?

The last case in this video compilation would be extremely valuable to teach people about the power of our perceptions. They shape what we actually see and hear so that the person (in this case the detective who was interviewing) believe they honestly see something other than what is reality. This detective was likely told the boyfriend was in the house where a murder was found and before he even entered the room he had concluded the boyfriend was guilty. That belief was so strong that it permeated every cell in the detectives body so that he perceived what he believed he would see and didn’t even stop to listen and look. Our reality (what we believe we honestly see and hear) is shaped by what we expect we’ll see and hear. In this case the “healthy” detective was actually hallucinating that this person across from him was a murderer and not a human who was in distress and needed emergency help.

I don't think it's unreasonable to hold cops at a higher standard than an asshole who shoots two people over a dumbass fight...

Stefania

The parents needed to sue. I know it wouldn't bring back their son, but at least this ignorant and incompetent detective would not be allowed to do this kind of thing to anyone else. This is when the state prosecutors office should get involved. But they won't... smh...

The video says there was an internal investigation but no disciplinary action was taken against the cops involved. As it usually is when departments investigate themselves...

Stefania

Who's familiar with the movie Law Abiding Citizen? Because that's the type of man I would become if I was in this situation. Every detective, forensic tech, police officer, and meter maid involved in the complacency that led to my son's death would have reason to doubt their longevity. And every investigator that found no cause for repercussions regarding the negligence on behalf of these morons would leave this world in a very profound fashion. A lawsuit wouldn't even register on their collective radar.

This was Canada. In the US cops have no legal obligation to assist.

Poor Ryan and Heather - and their poor parents and loved ones. When you described his injuries I nearly passed out. Watching him there desperately needing medical help and knowing each second he's getting more damaged...terrible

I'm really not sure, I've seen cases in which the cops have to immediately stop, and I've seen cases in which they are allowed to just basically talk to themselves and the responsibility to stay silent is on the suspect. Might depend on the country? It's weird.

Stefania

For the first case. I'm confused. If a person says they want to talk to their lawyer first and don't want to make any statements, don't the detectives have to stop?

Why do you feel more angry at the cop than the guy who shot Ryan? Then incompetence must be worse than evil. And rational thought displaced by passionate insight. Is this what propaganda feels like?

Did the investigator ever get in trouble for that last interrogation? I feel like it should be brought to someone's attention if it hasnt already.

Are you more angry at Richie or Paul Dalton (the cop)?

He'd been shot in the head four times! He's got a hole in his nose and fragments of bone in his brain, just how dumb are these guys?!

Robsa

So infuriating listening to that cop interrogating Ryan! Was he penalised for this? I just read this article on Arizona Daily Independent that says... "When officers from the Phoenix Police Department arrived, they found Waller still conscious. He was able to identify the assailants and was taken to the hospital, where he had part of his brain removed and lost his left eye as a result of the gunshot wound. Detectives later learned that Richie Carver was a former roommate of Waller’s". WTF? This doesn't even mention the interrogation or the fact that they instantly assumed he was the perpetrator?

You were right about the last case. Heartbreaking. And then with the parents statement of only wanting their son back. damn

The last video with Ryan is beyond words terrible. and even though the police thought he killed her bc he was conscious at the crime scene, they should've at least had fire check him out for the APPARENT head injury. I mean, even if they couldn't comprehend he was shot, because honestly I don't blame for that, it doesn't seem real someone could live through that, They should've had him checked for his obvious head injury before putting him in the car at the scene. The fire/rescue personnel would've recognized the trauma and GS wound and taken him to the hospital

*love

It's easy to get angry watching it while already knowing what's happening to Ryan. I'd live to go back in time and watch it only knowing that Heather had passed away and Ryan was the only other person there. I'd like to think I would've recognized that something was wrong, but I'm not sure I would've. Not at first anyway.

Just woke up and the last part of this video is on my mind. I was really upset with the detective all the way thru Ryan's interview when I watched yesterday. It made it that much more difficult to watch. What's bothering me is my reaction seems nothing like his. I wonder what we all would've been thinking if we hadn't had the info beforehand. I wonder when and if we would've caught on to what was really going on.

That was absolutely heartbreaking, poor guy.

“Then what did you do, did you call 911?” No dude I just got shot in the face twice like I have said 4 times and have this huge gunshot wound literally on my face. This detective is just ugh.

The last case made me cry.. it also made me furious. I can't understand how a trained detective can't see when someone is not acting right. What a moron. I wanted the segment to end and for it to stop happening. Horrible work done by the police.

Oh my soul. I've watched a lot of brutal stuff in my time, but seldom am so disturbed as I was by that last segment. Oh my god. That poor, poor guy. HEARTBREAKING. Just... shattering. What an absolute travesty.

Stopped watching the last one, also alot of them should be fired.

omg this is terrifying...:O

Dénes Lázár

I have watched everything you can imagine. Death, gore, destruction, but that last interrogation was tragedy in its pure form. I haven't finished it yet, i don't feel like i can. Poor kid.

That last one was tough to finish watching. Rip

Damn that last one was heavy but really we need to help others before jumping to conclusions and blaming the first one they see

I’m actually crying from the last one. Holy shit, this one hurt to watch.

They fucking killed him. The bastards. Every second matters with a serious injury like that.

Matthew (Zei)

unbelievable!!!

Could the interrogating detective have screwed that up anymore then he did? Ahhh, no. This guy was victimized by the incompetency of the police just as much as he was by the shooter. Internal investigation, no disciplinary actions. Unbelievable. If the parents didn’t want the money they should’ve sued anyway and donated every single penny to a victims rights organization.

ken saint john

USA, land of the free(authorities/elites), home of the brave(the common folk).

I don’t think I’ve ever yelled at someone in a video before, but watching that poor kid’s life force slowly draining away was beyond infuriating. Even if they thought he was “just badly beaten” why did not receive medical treatment first? That Detective was like a dog with a bone, I cannot believe he was not reprimanded at all.

I can’t find anything else on that last case online

How the hell did they not see the injuries to the last guys head??? Not to mention his obvious cognitive retardation.. this is horrible! Wow this police force screwed up big time!

Took him 50 fucking minutes to say "That might be an entrance and exit wound, and he's acting like he has brain damage." Nice detective work, detective

Tom Simmons

horrible. what's his name?

I feel enraged, aghast, and nauseated. From a medical perspective, within moments I recognized Ryan's profound circular bruising around his eyes (known as "raccoon eyes") as an IMMEDIATE warning sign of potential brain injury/skull fracture.

That last case hurts my soull, holly shit it's the only interrogation I've seen on here that I struggled to get through, jesus christ that's fucking rough man, that is some heavy shit

Kieran

As a physician, the last case is one of the most tragic I've ever seen. Within the first few moments of the interview, it is painfully obvious that Ryan is making absolutely no sense and not in the way that someone is trying to be evasive. The fact that HOURS passed after his injuries is disgusting. It is possible that if he received immediate medical attention after being found at the scene, he could have recovered.

That last video was fucking infuriating to watch. All of those cops involved should have their jobs taken away. Fucking disgusting.

You know whats the most disgusting thing of all? The detective from the last video went on to teach Investigator's Training Courses and Crime Scene Investigations at community colleges.

That poor third guy! If I wasn’t given the full backstory I would have been laughing. Even still I had to catch myself. That cop staring at the holes in his face, “Your story ain’t adding up” like an SNL skit. Poor family 🙁.

Pigs really are the bottom of the barrel disgusting human beings.

That last cop is fucking disgusting. I can't believe they took that boy into custody. Fucking desperate to make any case possible. This is everything wrong with the justice system. Police protect the wealthy and abuse the poor.

Does anybody know why the attorney is not present in the interrogation ?

That last one man.. that cop was purely being cruel there's no other way to put it. He saw in him an easy target to charge and completely ignored his condition to reach his goal. Do the US have laws for "non assistance to person in danger"? Because this dude in France would be sitting in jail for a hefty period of time.

Saad Devly

oh my Lord. Fuck this cop. And the entire force. WTF! 6 hrs in the car before this!? UNBELIEVABLE!!! Poor guy and his family.

Next time I am having a bad day, I am going to remind myself "at least you didn't get shot in the face, get harassed by the cops, lose both your eyes and your girlfriend, and die."

this has to be the most bizarre shit I've ever seen

i cant believe after finally getting the fire department on the way he still continues to question him about the topic. my stomach is actually turning.

Got paid AND Jim drops 2 videos? Damn good day today.

Jason BeanPaste

They probably would’ve never called the ambulance and he would’ve died in his holding cell

wowzers, I have never come across a human so ignorant, negligent, and cruel in my life. i cannot believe this detective has not noticed the many red flags indicating the victims health and mental status at the time of the interrogation. i guess my first question is why the fuck was he not sent to the hospital. Were the police blatantly ignoring this poor mans bullet holes because they're quite obvious. Were any real humans involved in this case at all? shame on every officer and detective that took part in this.

that family really needed to go after that department to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

Mike Joe

I'm aware of hindsight bias, but I don't see how anyone could NOT see these signs. I don't swear online often, but I will now. How in the fuck do you miss these signs? I hope he lives with this shit the rest of his life and he better be thankful to that family for not destroying him in court. The only person fortunate here is that cop and he better not forget it.

So pleased to support this content can't wait to watch!

I'm actually handling the last case as well as I handle an ISIS beheading video. It was torturous, depressing, infuriating and made me want to scream at that cop. How in the living shit do you miss these signs. If the family didn't want the the money after suing the department, I understand that... then donate it. But that investigator needed to be held publicly accountable. That was one of the worst things I've ever watched and will never watch it again.

That last detective should have been charged with something. That "interrogation" is one of the most disgusting things I've ever listened to. "Get your feet off my chair, number one" while Ryan has a giant hole in his face.

They didn't know it was bullet holes. They thought he was just beaten

Vikhyat Mundlapudi

I read your warning Jim before watching and to be honest thought nothing of it as the last case started. Probably the hardest thing I’ve watched that you have uploaded. Each second that poor man was being interrogated was like watching his life painstakingly drift away. Words cannot express how sorry I feel for his family.

physically can’t watch the last one it makes me sick to my stomach

He stated the truth as best he could over and over and over again but police just didn't want to hear it. I would be absolutely devastated if this were my child.

Howdy

8 years for shaking a baby to death. Unreal.

He more or less lost is life due to the officers actions

Another name to add to corrupt cops

last one broke my heart. I was waiting for a happy ending where he was saved and real life doesn't happy endings... you could feel the pain in whole video.

jims insight on the incel video is intriguing as usual but the story is quite boring.

Ok that last case like legit it makes it so clear sometimes how bent and corrupt the police force none of these police officers got the shit they deserve for their neglect and should tbh face prison time.

If ryan had been black...

this cop had an idea of what happened in his brain, namely that ryan killed heather, and tried to conform any information around that idea. instead of assessing the situation and gather information he went right for evidence toward his assumption. i think the light went on for him at around 49 minutes of the confession as you can see his attitude went from accusatory to compassionate. unfortunately ryan was treated as though he was guilty as opposed to innocent until proven guilty which cost him his life. this was horrible to watch but riveting. thanks JCS!

Horrible! That case was so sad.

Mary Ali

what in the fuck kind of detective sees a motherfucker with bullet holes in his damn head and thinks yea i should interrogate this one. what - did you think it was self inflicted? fucking how? what is this cunt's name? this detective? they're supposed to be psychological wizards and he's acting like a god damn smartass every time he answers a question differently or says something that doesn't make any sense. he's even questioning that he got shot in the eye - bitch do you see the hole under his god damn eye? how the fuck did it take you 40 god damn minutes to figure out that he might not be okay to interrogate?

Excellent job, JCS team. As always....

Sick to my stomach. I do my best to give officers the benefit of the doubt, but I'm filled with anger and at a loss for words.

vicious

Okay talk about cold blooded killer in the 2nd one, shoot someone point blank range in the head TWICE just for $286 like wtf. The third one was hard to watch I wanna beat the shit out of those useless garbage cops!!!! Fucking excellent content serious Jim keep it coming

Mir Berthelot

No reprimand or consequences for abject tunnel vision and a personal agenda at the expense of man's life! Appalling on whole new level! The family should have sued for the simple reason of sending a clear message to the police department that this behavior is absolutely reprehensible and perhaps save the lives of future injured suspects. If they get away with it once, what's to stop them from repeating the same? Oh that's right, they are above the law and aren't held responsible for their actions or non-actions, unlike the suspects they are interrogating....disgusting.

This is the most angry I’ve ever been at a video. That poor boy. Those cops should have all been fired. Just disgraceful.

Hard to watch... That may be the greatest understatement. I'm a furious at the police at the 3rd story. I understand getting there and seeing her dead, and him seemingly 'bruised and beaten' and thinking; Ok, he killed her and she tore him up bad in the struggle. Let's let this scumbag rot in the backseat a little while while we get this crap together. But you can't do that, because they might be a victim too....

Magic Plants

So incredibly sad 😭

I don't know if Ryan's family did the right thing. Maybe their punishment is the guilt they'll feel for the rest of their lives that their negligence caused someone their life? They were all guilty of assumption

That last one is heart breaking, How it took that officer that long to notice something wasn't right i have no idea. he deteriorated rapidly infront of his eyes. Such a shame my thoughts go out to his family.

I seldom cry but I'm tearing up.. fuck

Micah Hess

(last video) These officers need to be held accountable. A lack of punishment means that this kind of shit will just continue to happen. A lawsuit won't bring their son back, but they need to file for the sake of their community and the rest of the country.

Finally someone with a bit of sense. Yes he messed up. Yes he should have actions taken against him. But some people are just so unreasonably hateful towards all police because of one incident

Poor Ryan. That was totally awful.

No disciplinary action taken?... NO DISCIPLINARY ACTION TAKEN?!?!?! I know this will make me sound like a bad person but quite frankly I don't give a shit. I HOPE NO PRAY that the ASSHOLE COP at the end of the video gets in a car wreck out in the middle of no where and has to lay there suffering in pain for a full 24 hours before someone finds him. Then after he is found I hope the person who finds him looks at him and thinks to themselves "oh he is fine I don't need to help him right away. I'll just finish the 8 hour drive I have left before I get home and if I feel like it maybe then I'll call someone, but only after I watch a few YouTube videos from JCS. I want to see the new video he just posted, besides that guy was only missing 6 fingers, a foot, and his eye was popped out..... nah yeah he will be ok. Nothing to see here I'll just move along."

If he had gotten medical attention, would he have had a chance of recovering from the brain damage? This is extremely disturbing.

Nope. Nothing. Of course. It’s garbage like that slowly peels away trust for authority in this country. How can someone be that negligent and face no consequences. I get some cops need to be protected but this is just blatant.

John Myzell

When you said that the family wasn’t suing because it wouldn’t bring back their son is when I cracked. That is one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever heard. My god that last one was a rollercoaster.

John Myzell

The last one... Was he blinded on one eye? How did they not see the hole in the nose and the side of his head. They seem to think he was beaten up... I just don't get it

Fascinating cases and commentary, as always. That last one was brutal - after awhile I skipped to the part where the paramedics came in. Unbelievable neglect on the part of the police. My deepest sympathies to his family.

First of all, I want to say how much I'm enjoying your videos. They're such a fascinating and insightful experience into psychology and human behaviours. The last interrogation... I mean...?????? How can the officer sit there and interview this young man with such injuries to the face and who's behaviour is clearly incoherent and do nothing but continue to press for information...?! If they think he's a suspect, have him treated at a hospital first but place him under police supervision. It angers me how a human can treat another human with such callousness and disregard. It's such a contrast to the 'brotherhood' and camaraderie witnessed in The Hidden Perspective pt. 2 I watched before this video. Did they think he was drunk and/or on drugs? Just another domestic abuse incident? But, still, he should have been seen by medics straight away. I'm completely p****d off at the inhumanity!!!!!! However, I do think the officer realises the seriousness of the matter when he states: 'did you go back to bed/sleep after the shooting?' There's a long pause... I think it all comes together in his mind. But, by then and most unfortunately, it's too late. The damage has already been done.

Virginia Orwell

Holy sht. Hard to watch is a vast understatement. Internal investigation with no charges is not making any sense at all, maybe I'll comment later when i can think this through. Kid lost her life and boyfriend was treated as suspect with fatal wounds to his head while subject to interrogation for hours and hours (which would have been the difference btw life & death). How can law enforcement be so smart yet stupid? even in these rare occasions? Sorry just need to chill a bit, I'm fine with seeing violence but for some reason this is on some different level, for me. Great content.

I watched the first two. Couldn’t do the last one. Reading the comments was enough.

Right in the feels...

I spent a lot of time years ago looking Into Ryan Wallers case. The interrogators name is Paul Dalton. It really bothers me to see such arrogance in this man's motives, just assuming that a young man with facial injuries walks into the room and acting like a child is normal behavior, because it is. Even the worst liars do not ask to go home repeatedly or to go to sleep, he has zero experience with anything similar occurring in the past. Dalton just thought he was so smart and that he was going to be the hero for the night by not allowing any other officer to join him in this murder interrogation, he looked at this as a slam shut win for him and overlooked all the obvious signs of brain injury, gross negligence. To be clear from the time this kid was shot to the time he went to the hospital was over 18 hours. 12 of which was spent with the police. The bullets caused very little damage but the hours spent with internal bleeding is what caused all his problems. Paul Dalton was never reprimanded nor investigated.

wow, I was just so furious with the last one, I was angry texting my brother the whole story because he still hasn't subscribed to the patreon

Please tell me that detective lost his job. How disgusting you can tell he's incoherent.

Mine too yo

Denyse Van Leuven

100% GodDAMN!

E Wilson

They even made him sit in that police car for six hours too, just unreal.

Holy shit I cried so hard watching that last one. Holy fuck.

Wow

AHHHH! I couldn't even watch the last one. I have no words....This is why I hate people they truly are the absolute most evil creatures on this planet. Poor baby needs to sue their asses!

God I want to like police, I try to understand where they come from. But this... this is just gross incompetence even if he wasn’t shot couldn’t they just say the mans confession/statement was invalid cause he didn’t know what he was saying? Feels like a terrible situation on all fronts. He should never have been questioned in this state.

That last one was unbearable. 🥴

you should start a series on the most horrific police crimes murdering people in their own homes interrogating people who just got shot in the head , killing peoples dogs and sometimes the owners aswell for almost no reason, im sorry but i find that more scary than some of the stuff you cover they are state sanctioned maniacs afraid of their own shadow with a licence to kill

toe-knee

Man, that last one got my anxiety up.

What sort if detective finds a lad with serious facial injuries, babbling incoherently, next to a murder victim who has been shot to death, and can't figure out he might need medical attention? I'd resign in embarrassment if that was me. And no disciplinary action taken?? If that doesn't show corruption in the system, nothing does. His roommate might have killed him, but the police made sure it was nice and slow. Bastards.

Gawd that poor guy ryan. RIP. so brave. Those cops shouldve been disciplined and sacked.

Holy hell, the cop making fun of him for not calling the police after he got shot in the eye. "And you just wanted to go to sleep?!" This level of idiocy (on the cop's behalf, obviously) should be criminalized. I fast-forwarded through most of it and just happened to land there. Somewhere in between the cop was obviously alerted to the fact that this young man was at least claiming to have been shot in the eye (miracle in and of itself that he was able to get that message across given his injuries). How do you NOT stop dead in your tracks and trigger, like, EVERY alarm? I'm so mad.

I found the last one so hard to stomach, even though I watched the interrogation on youtube about a year ago. His left face was swollen. He was confusing a gun with bows and arrows. He was mixing people up. Couldn't remmeber names. Wanted to sleep. Had very obvious injuries to head. Damn rights the parents should sue. That beautiful young man had his life robbed because medical attention was neglected. As the mom of a 20 year old and 18 year old this one is hard to watch. So tragic

Oh and JCS, I completely agree that these people "sobbing" is for their own sake only, not for the victims...And that last dude, Ryan, wtf is up with that shit man?! Did they think he shot himself? Not only that because of the authorities actions he's DEAD! Sad...so sad...

Denyse Van Leuven

fuuuuck jim. that last one got me :(

The last one is absolutely devastating. Feels like the end of 1984.

Leach

I realize my response is completely visceral, but I really want these peeps to be killed the way that they killed others...so sad and sick. Oh god and the last interview was BRUTAL!

Denyse Van Leuven

Could have been just to keep him occupied at that point. When there’s a possibility of a brain injury like that and you don’t know how bad it is you want to keep the person awake because if they fall asleep they might never wake up again. Of course that could be giving this interrogator way too much credit.

That last interview was gut-wrenching. Oh my God...

I had to take breaks from watching just so I could finish that last one. That was absolutely heart breaking.

The worst part about the last one is his eyes may have been able to be saved if the police got him medical attention. I hope that interrogating officer recognizes and is forced to live with the guilt of ensuring an innocent person lost their eyes.

man i didn't expect the last interrogation to be so hard to watch even with the warning lol so pissed nothing happened to the cops

Ali Garrett Guneken

Very well said. I agree about the fact that the lawsuit may not bring their son back, BUT it will at least be a lesson to not make these horrendous mistakes again.

I sure hope they found a big enough casket for Ryans balls. Rip fella.

During that interrogation of the kid shot in the face, i was saying why isn't this kid in the hospital? Also, a defense attorney would shred this interrogation apart. Come to find out, the detective was an idiot. Wish the parents would have sued.

The last interrogation made me so uncomfortable and that rarely happens while watching these, such a sad way to go out

Wow. I usually roll my eyes when I hear “viewer discretion advised”, or see some sort of warning about something being “hard to watch”. But damn if Ryan’s interrogation and his whole story in general didn’t make me want to puke. How the eff could they be so incompetent?! He lost so much. His girlfriend, his mental capacity, his eyes, and then his life. And he was treated like that?! Absolutely unacceptable and so shockingly heartbreaking. Omg that will haunt me forever. 😭😭😭

The day is always better with a JCS post!

Fuck those pigs in #3. FUCK THEM.

JackApollo

What an amazing display of resilience and fortitude by Ryan. He was truly an inspiration to fight so hard to live. It is incredibly sad that his condition wasn’t recognised and treated earlier. I agree with the decision of his family; no good will come from further retribution.

Why did he keep quetioning him after he has noticed the injjury ?!

No words.

The last one is terrifying and heartbreaking to watch. How could he not see that he wasn't responding properly? He answered *B" to what was your highest grade. One thing I want to ask about was with the grandfather in the first case. You seemed certain that the grandfather was faking emotion and sympathy? Maybe I'm not an expert at noticing it, but it seemed genuine to me. Although would that be for his grandson or himself?

The last one was infuriating. The police responsible should be charged and jailed.

omg... this is hard to watch like you said. That guy needed medical attention ASAP !!!! His brain was not working properly !

50 mins before saying someone will take you to a hospital!!! He was literally not alright starting minute 1! I could not watch past 20mins and had to skip... So sad... I also, hate to play devils advocate.. and say cops deal with some really sick people and sometimes misjudge as they don't know who is really bad and who is really just a victim until they question.. that being said, questions should not take 50 mins to determine if someone needs medical attention.... maybe 1 min.. in initial screening before entering the room.

That was heartbreaking.

WoW, Jim....As usual, you didn't disappoint! The last video had me so upset, I nearly cried whilst watching it. As an RN, the symptoms of brain injury were sooooo glaringly obvious, it simply shattered my heart....and frustrated the hell outta me that the detective missed it. The confusion, inability to focus or remember...the desire to just sleep...even the slurring of words from time to time are all huge neon-colored signs that the detective missed. NOT to mention the HOLES in his face/head. SUch a tragic story. My heart aches for the family. Thank you so much for another great video! Keep 'em coming! XoXo

XoIrishXo

Yea, that dude should have been provided medical attention immediately, and the cop should have recognized it. It's an example of the cops looking for suspects, not truth.

JCS double feature -- perfect way to end a week. Well any day really.

Ben Brown

Welcome everyone who just unlocked Jim’s patreon content after seeing the newest Incel video ❤️

That last one is so hard to watch. My heart is breaking for the poor guy. I don't think the detective is a bad guy (or at least this lone incident isn't enough for us to judge). The detective eventually wizened up but hoo boy - its hard to play devil's advocate on this one boys :-|

John

In wich planet can you interrogate someone without them being capable to actually understand what's going on ?? this last one scares tf outta me

I know there was a warning for the last one but damn it was so frustrating to watch. Poor kid needed medical help. Even if he looked beaten there was clearly evidence of head trauma. That cop should have received some kind of discipline. I’m just so angry about it still.

"Did you get shot in the face? why don't you sit tight and be interrogated for an hour, I'm sure you're not in need of immediate medical attention at all" - detective, probably

I made such a good decision signing up for JCS's Patreon. So interesting

Wow, concerning the last case, while I realize that a lawsuit would not bring back their son, the fact remains that the department in question was at least grossly negligent in their actions. Punative damages seek to correct the behavior of individuals or entities so that others may avoid suffering a similar fate. Walking into a crime scene and making leaps in logic, while jumping to erroneous conclusions simply because you want to gain a conviction as rapidly as possible is something we have seen over and over again in modern policing. There are entire teams of attorneys whose only job is to review cases where the justice system cut corners, missed evidence, and convicted the wrong person(s) as a means of A. Boosting their conviction rate and B. Usually taking the pressure off of a police force stretched too thin. One thing forgotten in all of the fervor to make quick arrests and convictions is that there are glaring policy and procedural holes being left in the wake of such egregious and irresponsible policing. The only thing that forces reformation is to take action they actually feel as a whole. It’s not up to the citizens to determine where these holes lie, but we must hold our forces to a higher standard.

oh god so hard to watch this guy scrambled brain. how could they not see he needs medical attention?! i can only continue telling myself that its in the past and impossible to change. poor guy.

I remember this case, I was living in Phoenix when it happened. I had no idea Ryan eventually died, that is horrible. :o(

The third one is incredibly sad. i honestly don't know if i can finish it. literally watching someone lose his mind...because of careless police.

Hang in there, Kristen. You're doing good work out there <3

Mar Mai

Third case is seriously the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. And I literally screamed at my phone when I heard there was no disciplinary action against the police. Seriously insane I’m fuming right now!

Welp, with the shit in Dallas, an this last case we know now to NEVER EVER EVER call for a "welfare check."

third case was just really sad. you'd think police officers could identify a gunshot wound

Last one was incredibly sad 😢

I thought the same thing

Jazminne Haywood

Imagine being that third guy interrogated. Youre shot in the head and feeling your brain dissolve after some scumbag killed your girlfriend and tried to kill you. And it’s a miracle you’re alive but you’ve lost your cognitive powers and your brain is like a 5 year olds and you’re being dominated by a police officer who is convinced you did the shooting.

The last interrogation was so hard to watch, that detective is completely blind to serious brain damage. The responding officers deserve a lot of blame for even putting him in a cop car, not to mention taking him to the police station for questioning.

Cameron Price

Holy crap I don’t think I can make it through the last one. I’m literally shaking and my heart is racing. Oh my god.

Liz Mason

Man oh man . That last one has my blood boiling!!

Maaaan it really feels like there have to be a handful of people to blame for the last one. I tried to watch it and understand the police point of view and give them the benefit of the doubt but I just can’t get it... I know watching it that I have a bias since I know he’s been shot before watching the actual interrogation but how do they not notice that at the scene? Like, the dude couldn’t have been acting like he just got roughed up and had a bad bruise, he was clearly far more injured than that. While it’s frustrating to see the interrogator question him for so long, I don’t even blame him that much. He should have noticed earlier and got him help, but regardless, at a murder scene with another injured person they have to notice that shit. There are just no excuses for him not getting checked out earlier and not being forced to sit in the car for SIX HOURS. I don’t blame the family for not pressing charges since it’s not going to bring their son back, but if I were in their shoes, I think I’d be furious about how poorly they handled it. Who knows how much longer he could have lived had he gotten the proper care. Just tragic. But fantastic video as always Jim, I’m a new Patron and have watched everything you’ve made (on YT or here at least). Love the content!

Cody Wertz

Go to the JCS youtube page, they just uploaded a video precisely on Minassian's interview...

man fuck that last detective, what a grade A dumbass. that was heartbreaking, he should lose his job

jacob flynn

imagine being a cop and not being able to identify a fucking gunshot wound. What type of requirements do they have to become a cop? Just needing a fucking pulse?

Wow JCS That LAST ONE IS SOMETHING ELSE. I've never seen a gunshot victim who had to suffer through an interrogation after being beaten and shot in the face, SO SAD. I agree with the family's decision not to pursue because the Victim is now gone. Crazy sad. It was quite INTERESTING to see though. :'(

Man, that’s some scary stuff. I wonder if those 7 or so hours would have made a difference on his eyesight or death.

Qunka

I also couldn't finish the injured guy. It was too painful to watch.

Had to skip past parts of the last video. To find out that he died after is so terrible. It leads me to wonder if he would still be here today had the police taken him to the hospital immediately. Sad stuff...

That last case was brutal...couldn't even watch it had to skip to the end and it was still tough

good lord, that last one sure is tragic. it's easy to understand why the police did what they did but hard to understand how it could happen.

Ambrosia

Poor Ryan, sad story...

I honestly doubted you, Jim. I thought, whatever the last segment is, it won’t be any harder to watch than the rest of your content... But holy shit, you weren’t kidding.

JIM PLEASE I BEG OF THEE, MAKE A VIDEO ON LAUREN ANN PALMER OR IN GENERAL FEMALE TORTUROUS, MAKING US MALES LOOK BAD ! lol

Watching that poor kid being interrogated for an hour with bullet holes in his head was horrifying. Shame on that police department.

I usually take the police's side because I know I could NEVER put up with the crap they put up with on a daily basis but that one with the bullets in his face made me very angry. I hope that kid's parents sue them into oblivion. i KNOW they say they only want their son back but if they don't sue then this could happen to someone else's son

Lord, that last one was such a dark comedy of errors, how horrifying.

That last one was rough but so interesting

Ian Williams

"Thought he was badly beaten," yeah with a bullet to the face.

"He's acting like he has a serious head injury...which would make sense." he says after interrogating him for nearly an hour. That was really hard to watch

Narrator comment at timestamp 4:44 made me laugh really hard

Porter Zedalis

jeeze that was dark as hell

Isnt it interesting that most people who are commenting use a reasonable First and Sir Name in this Chat..

8 Years for killing a baby! Canada is beyond lax with their sentencing. Also that last interrogation was so hard to get through. I thought that detective did a horrible job. If that dude had gone into shock while in police custody they would’ve been responsible

Jazminne Haywood

that cop is a moron. dude's been shot in the head and he expects accurate, concise answers to his questions?

Starting off the weekend with a bang!

so happy tbh

Its narrated by another youtuber. The name of the narrator is usually in the description.

I was thinking the same thing!

I was thinking, when is another Jim video gona come? Low and behold

Does anything else really matter when Jim uploads a video?

Ahhhh! Just had a super shitty day today - as teacher my students were driving me nuts, had to deal with a particularly psycho parent and her particularly bitchy daughter, then dealing with the freakin DMV on the phone.... Then I saw the alert for a new Jim Can't Swim video! And all is well with the world :)

Are these videos auto-narrated by some kind of thesaurus software? Or google translated into a number of languages and back before read?

JCS! I would LOVE to hear your take on the Alek Minassian interview. It’s fascinating, and so sad.

"My dog ate my homework" taken to next level

I just gasped so loud, I scared the shit out of all three kids haha. I feel like I’ve been waiting forever! I know the wait is always worth it. Thanks so much, Jim! You just made my night! And my kids’ night, too. Because they’re gonna get snacks and movies out the wazoo while I give you my full, undivided attention for a while. 😂😂😂😍😍😍

Y'know when Jim gives you a warning, shits about to go down.

I work nightshift and will definitely listen to this around 4am tonight when I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open haha
