Cozy Groundhog Pitch

The title says it all: spurred on by a listener, both Conor and Mike give their best pitch for a cozy Groundhog Day mystery.

NOTE: Immediately after recording this we were made aware that Quebec's beloved groundhog, Fred la Marmotte, died just before he could predict when winter will end at a Canadian city's Groundhog Day celebration! As God is our witness we did not know that Quebec has their own cozy mystery IRL.

So important I decided to wait a week to add it.

Not to be that guy (who am I kidding? I'm totally that guy!) but they don't actually show an In 'n' Out in the Big Lebowski. They talk about one on Radford...but there isn't an In-n-Out on Radford, never has been. The closest one is a mile or two away on Lankershim (and it didn't exist in 1991). AND as any local will tell you, Walter and Donny are not eating from In'n'Out branded cups/burger wrappers.

So, when does the kickstarter campaign to create these start?

I would read the hell out of both those books.

St. Patrick's Day would be an *excellent* cozy setting!

When driving through Intercourse, PA, do stop for the pretzels.

My plan is for an Arbor Day themed cozy mystery, which starts off in a colorfully folksy town that's Arbor Day celebration attracts tourists, somehow, and after the murder of a judge of a themed competition, the investigation details meetings with several potential suspects who are all colorful folks, and at the last minute it's discovered in a sudden mood swerve the murder is discovered to be connected to a ruthless human-trafficking ring that has operations in the area.

Was Mike talking about the rolls at Tobies in Hinckley? LOL

Interesting because Quebec has no interstates...

I had no idea that Punxsatawney Phil had so many imitators, or that there was an "inner circle" surrounding him. I think I have a new candidate for who might be the secret leader of the illuminati...

If there's a second Jackal novel, I vote that it be a cozy mystery

Whodunit?

Here in Florida, the closer you get to St Augustine, the more billboards you see advertising pecan rolls. And I've gotta say, proprietor of a roadside pecan roll shop looks like a pretty cozy job. Google St Augustine pecan outlet if you don't believe me.

If we up our pledge to $10, can we get you guys to write these?? Would love to have a copy and display it on my entryway table for all to see

Six weeks after Groundhog Day would drop you right in on the eve of St. Patrick's Day - there's some additional untapped cozy potential there!

It is Acadia.

I just want to make it known, that the Quebec Groundhog, Fred La Marmotte, died on feb 1st. 1 day before ground hog day. So thats not a good sign.

Conor here, I'd like to share this video as well, a glimpse into what really goes down in Punxsatawney https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRcI47BpLbw
