#129 - Super Constitution Ep 4 - Miss Sequoia, AOOOOgaaaa!

Well, we're one ep away from being done with Charles Kim's  ̶i̶n̶s̶a̶n̶e̶, u̶n̶h̶i̶n̶g̶e̶d̶ m̶a̶n̶i̶f̶e̶s̶t̶o̶ novel and one thing is becoming clear: unless you hold multiple degrees from Ivy League institutions he thinks you are human garbage and wants you dead.

Other things you'll learn: there's nothing that can't be solved by throwing a cozy cocktail party. Always allow attendants at your meetings to bite ham and cheese sandwich (but only after the lunch hour, and only after consulting with U.S. President!!) And finally, if you're a fan of people describing proposed military division numbers at great length, your ship has come in!

READING ASSIGNMENT: Finish the ̶i̶n̶s̶a̶n̶e̶, u̶n̶h̶i̶n̶g̶e̶d̶ m̶a̶n̶i̶f̶e̶s̶t̶o̶ book!

Gave you a +1 for the Eat N Park reference (as well as being hilarious), "now there's a name I've not heard..."

In my defense, it was Barber’s Adagio for Strings that got me.

Amy Shaw

Why stop then?

I am so grateful for AirPods, because that’s right when I started literally laughing out loud. I’m a terrible person.

Amy Shaw

So that means you DID read Bob Honey and Shadow Moon! Braver than me, my friend...

Taylor Conner

I finally did it! I’m now in parity with the 372 Pages podcast! I discovered it last December, listening from the beginning. I didn’t try reading along until Eye of Argon, but that wonderful book sold me on becoming a Patreon subscriber because it so enhanced the experience. Since then, the only books I have not read are The Mister and Modelland. And, today, I finished listening to the latest episode and completed the Super C book. The horror…the horror…

Edward Lankford

That reading of the discussion between the creepy guys near the end was so icky and hilarious. Great job, both of you.

Mandie Cornelius

Maybe it was written feverishly in an unusually literal sense. Like, Charles Kim got a bad flu and like four days later he had the manuscript for Super Constitution and vague memories of sitting at his computer.

Theodore Lehman

Never has the word "feverishly" been a better descriptor for how something was written. I imagine every page of this manuscript as damp with sweat and scribbled ink...

Speaking of biting into sandwiches, many years ago my parents and brother and I were dining at an Eat N Park in my dad’s hometown in western Pennsylvania when the waitress returned after our entrees were delivered to ask, “Did you bite into it yet?” It’s been like 25 years since this happened and it may be our #1 inside family joke of all time. I assume we will only stop bringing it up after we are all dead.

Jenny S

You bastards, you killed Pete! What did he ever do to you?

Balaji S

My wife walked in on me listening right as “PETE’S DEAD! HE WAS HIT BY A BUS” was shouted. She asked me what happened and I tried to explain. She walked out of the room right after I said “dark web actor took issue with the material.”

Eric Andrews

I too am looking forward to the end of this book. My skimming abilities are currently at an all time peak. We will need a nice sorbet to cleanse our palettes after this kielbasa of a book.

Mike Suhr

Ahhh, I was so close to fooling Mike with that first excerpt, but he changed his mind at the last minute. Oh well. Congratulations, Mike!
