I posted a awful drunken screed on your Discord and for that I'm sorry. I was just so full of hate after listening to the audiobook through chapter four that I couldn't help myself. I've continued to listen to it and it's honestly the least self-aware thing I've ever "read" or listened to in my life. Wade Watts is a horrible human being. Because so much of the book is inner monologue it will be a bit of work to try to translate to a sequel. Making Wade even likeable will require a massive rewrite of the plot. I think Ernest Cline is trying to write something that's far beyond his ability. It's like he wants to paint a conflicted good soul trying to do the right thing and then always follows it up by making Wade even creepier or cringe worthy. This novel is a f'ing train wreck. I can't sympathize with this terrible person and I hope he burns in hell. Stephen Spielberg is just shaking his head and walking away from this steaming shit pile of a sequel.
