Mira rolled an intimidation check and got an absolute zero. She’s definitely gonna have to work on her snappy one-liners and bouts of sarcasm moving forward. Someone in the comments here mentioned that this guy looks sort of like the leader of the Imps from Tristan’s childhood in Book Zero. I actually checked back at those pages that featured him to look for any kind of resemblance and I’ll admit, it does seem to be a possibility, though admittedly I can’t be too sure without seeing the commander’s face and/or a direct comparison between the two. If this guy is the Imp leader, it would explain somewhat what happened to the Imps and how Tristan came to split off from them, perhaps the imps getting ambushed by Chaos beasts during a job gone bad, leading to the leader getting corrupted and the other two potentially getting killed and forcing Tristan to make a run for it to save himself. Unfortunately, as much of as it would be sweet karma for that to happen and for the Imp leader to hopefully get killed by the Knights either here or later, at the same time it does bring the sad implication that Tristan didn’t leave those bastards behind on his own accord, but was forced to due to “Life finding a way”, which would explain why Tristan, in terms of standing his ground towards someone like Leo or Nigel, is still just about as sturdy as a melted marshmallow. It would be pretty ironic if Tristan technically had Rah’Jan to thank for his freedom from the Imps. Obviously it would’ve been preferable if he managed to get away from them on his own, like Luna was clearly setting him up for when they met, but unfortunately being forced to leave due to direct interference by somebody else or often unforeseen circumstances and situations in life is usually the case for a lot of abuse victims out there. But in the end this is all speculation on our part. More than likely, the commander could just be some guy that just so happens to have some physical similarities with the Imp leader, but I suppose we’ll see who he really is soon enough.
