Willow Loves Willow

Mike and Conor have a pretty straightforward discussion about how Thorn née Willow formerly "the floor" kinda sorta transforms into The Demon / A Dragon / Some Stones / a Liquid Mass of His Own Melted Organs / Some Shards / A Mountain / a Swimmer / a Fish, etc., and in that state puffs air into the demon's daughter who may or may not be Elora, and then, as he has done several times before, looks around the castle, gets pulverized, crushed, bloody, turns into one searing mass of unbearable agony, then pops through some masonry and starts shoving people into moon fire.

So, pretty clear, though some unusual stuff does happen along the way.

Plus: Conor does Real or FanFic and you won't believe what happens next!

For next episode *deep soul-weary sigh* read fifty more pages!

Yeah Weller's one of my favourite Dickensian characters, there's pro's & cons with this sort of thing, but I liked the rendering of his accent, & I recognise it can be hard to consistently depict such in prose convincingly. Another chuckleworthy Person of Note I dig in The Pickwick Papers is the fat page? boy who's always discovered fallen asleep after e.g. eating too much pie.

Belated thanks to this! That one was a high wire act, but fun -C

The word salad comment killed me 😂😂🥗

Back at the bit with the Death Dogs, Floorwillow pushed himself to the brink of death like four times nonstop, so Clucas burned off all dramatic tension that might otherwise be had by such exertions.

So we read to the end of Chapter 10? I’m finding the going easier now that I don’t bother to reread when I don’t understand what just happened. Much faster.

Every time the word 'vizard' comes up I picture Samuel Weller (the manservant in Dickens' "Pickwick Papers"). His dielect replaced w's with v's, and he is paranoid of widows for some reason, so he often warns his friends "Look out for them vidders." So 'vizards' to me sounds like Joe talking about wizards. So at least this book gave me smile by reminding me of a much better book that I read long ago.

Almost through with this episode, but I have to say that the Dark Web bit from this might be my favorite one ever. I was howling through the second half.

Matt Nelson

Well done on Fanfic or Real, Conor!

I know this is the last thing you want to hear now but... the 4 non blondes song is called "What's up"

Lucas Neumeyer

Did I misunderstand something or is there now an open invitation to send in memes that make fun of the miscarriage?

Christian, I pronounce both those words that way. C'mon, how many Ogdens does Conor need?

Yeah, we're not gonna be doing this

Well, this book finally broke me. I got to the end of the first chapter for the week and tossed it across the room. I just could not bring myself to finish it. I'll try to jump back in for this weeks reading section but if I see one more full page paragraph of italic text I'm going to lose my mind.

Christian

this reads like someone is describing a dream to you.

When I first saw it, I did look up what a "vizard", and it is apparently a mask worn by women in Renaissance times so they don't get sunburns and thus wrinkles. All of the vizards in the book are masked, hence the "hence the name". Still, supremely stupid.

You know, not much tends to happen in comic books, either. And I say this as someone who's read every issue of X-Men that Chris Claremont wrote (as well as New Mutants and Excalibur, and more).
