The leader wants to prove herself, and her friend is along for the ride who has an inferiority complex anyway, the muscle is extremely upset that he's saddled with people he doesn't respect, Nigel is angry at the world (somewhat justifiably), and Tristan was in the wrong/right place at the wrong/right time.
