Tree of Life - Book 1 pg. 48.

I can't imagine this is the first time she's heard things like this, but now, and possibly for the first time, there will be real consequences if she messes up... but I'm sure everything will be fiiiiiiiine

IvyReed

She'll prove herself, A little faith goes a long way in this world ravaged with chaos, let lights shine wherever they are afforded.

QQQQT2

Rolls up sleeves, "The nerve of you people! Every Gardian who's faced the chaos has died. That's why we're here, to replace the fallen. And you call it favoritism that Mother Tree is sending her own daughter and Childhood Friend to the chopping block? If you're right, her bleached white skull will be in the hall of heros by week's end. Problem solved, right? Luna doesn't have any other children so no more favoritism. Are any of you willing to apoint your own kid to be slaughtered? No? Didn't think so. Either put up or shut up you stuck up, short sighted, nobodies!"

DC_OZ

It's going about as well as I expected.

The14th

This would be the funniest thing this month and I am here for it.

StLOrca

Everybody keeps saying/implying that Tristan and Nigel are gonna be officially named but I actually don't think so. They feel like people being tacked on at the end, perhaps when they go to fetch Alexander from wherever he's holding up.

THIS IS A FANTASTIC POINT. Like, maybe it is favoritism to have her adopted daughter be selected as a leader of this squad. But also, this is a last ditch effort to save what remains of the world from corruption... the Tree is very possibly *sacrificing her daughter to this*. If it doesn't work out. If it does, then her decision will be justified. And Leopold will probably be there to balance her out.

If this is how the crowd reacts to Mira, imagine how they will react to two strangers who aren’t even guardians.

Alex Bordo

Predictable reaction, but they’re missing the hidden implication. The Tree is basically sending her daughter to the front line of a war she may not survive. That tells me just how dire this situation is. The tree is using a last ditch high risk strategy which involves sacrificing that which she loves. Gods just see things differently to mortals.

Thisguy

Once the details of the mission come out...80% of those bitching will comment "well at least it wasn't me"

Nick R. Kupila

It's going to be a hoot!

StumpedMoose

I mean, wait until we get to "the petty thief" and "the guy I literally said wasn't fit to be a guardian a decade ago"

Myhairhasamindofitsown

Saw this reaction coming. Hopefully, Miralle can get past this and do her best in the future. Love her smile in panel 4 :3

Viro Veteruscy

Ah, the crowd was definitely going to bemoan Luna's picks. Poor Mira. She's going have to bear the responsibilities of her knightship and see Leo's smug face everyday.

StumpedMoose

Poor Mira, but to be expected, it's perfectly reasonable for everyone to think it's pure nepotism :(

Obsidian

"Now, as per tradition set forth by me ten minutes ago, the Leader and Second Knights are now married. This was in no way because I've been shipping these two for decades."

glitch

Ah the good ol false imposter syndrome trope. Where no one even our protagonist would believe that they can be a good leader. A classic

AdmiredRain28

I want to believe that Leo is only mad due to the fact that she's not taking it seriously and not because of being jealous that Miralle is the leader.

Ded Otter Man

Look like she is going to work hard to prove herself

GreenVector1985

I mean Luna herself predicted something like this would happen. Though perhaps it can be a good learning experience for Mira.
