It's a dark fantasy story and one of the first manga I ever read, picked it up after catching up on Berserk around 07 or 08. Has a great female MC and largely female cast and subverts a lot of tropes in a neat way. There is an anime but after seeing reviews I never watched it because I enjoy the manga so much. **Edited to add that I think the reveal that Himmel and Frieren met when he was a child in need of help is what made me think of Claymore. Not a spoiler for Claymore I promise.
