A few words to my supporters.

I got a few messages, that my comic is up on other sites when I upload it here, on Patreon. I really don't want to make a sceen about it, because I know, the internet is like this. No matter who you are, what you do, your work will be on the net, free to download. This is why I basically don't try to lock content behind a paywall. I love when others like my works, I love to entertain. I grew up on the internet too. I know what it is to be broke, to not be able to buy games, movies, books you really want. And I want everyone to be able to see my works! But I have to eat, and pay bills too...
So I will only ask for one thing.
Please, if you like my works, if you want to support me, and help me to make more original content in the future, if you want to help me to be able to make tons of comics and pictures, please don't download and post my works from Patreon. I upload everything later on on a lot of other sites, you can get everything from there to upload where you want. But please don't do it for that little time until it's Patreon exclusive.
And if you are the kind of people, who wants more exlcusive Patreon content for your money, don't worry, I'm already working on it! :) I'll upload a lot of Patreon exclusive sketches, I'm planning to do regular Q&A, and I'm still thinking on other things too. I still have a lot to figure out, but if you want to help me to make more and more original content, please consider not puting up pictures from Patreon to other sites.
I will be honest, I don't want to live from only from commissions, I want to make a TON of original content. And only you can help me with it.

Honestly, you gave the watermark idea, but I wouldn't just force it just because you brought it up, don't worry :) I'm still thinking of adding one that won't ruin the picture. Just something a bit more discret, that can't be just cut down from the picture, so others can see too that it was stolen. I was already thinking on making a pool about what my patrons want to see. I was planing it later tough. So I don't know when I'll make one, but I'll definietly want to communicate with my supporters a lot more. I'm really not that good in it... but I'm trying :)

I do agree with you, in that watermarks can certainly detract from an art piece, I was just spit-balling the idea out there if you truly wanted to make Patreon exclusive content. But there must be other options. Perhaps you could come up with a few different options and run a poll to see what your patrons think.

That's why I don't wat to ask money for everything, that's why I'll upload everything on other sites later on. If I won't do it, others will anyway. So why couldn't it be me :D But I try to make the content a bit exclusive for a time, because my patrons deserve something in return of their kind support.

I think I'll have to come up with something, because I don't want to put my content behind a paywall. I really don't like that idea at all. But I want to make my own content, and I want to reward my supporters with something. So I guess I'll make some kind of watermark...

2017-02-05 12:46:45 +0000 UTCThere's a saying, "Once you post something on the Internet, it's no longer yours." It is a sad fact that some people don't understand that artists need to make money. Patreon is one of those outlets that help creators make $$$ for their efforts. When someone copies art they had to pay to obtain, it's copyright infringement. I think it's immoral and unethical to steal. Sadly, not everyone on the Internet thinks the same way. And it's sad Vik has to ASK people not to steal her art.

Do you think that it would help dissuade people from reposting if you added some kind of Patreon exclusive watermark to your work? Something like a disclaimer stating (this work is not intended for redistribution outside of Patreon) or something to that effect.
