10/30 AMA

Happy Early Halloween everyone! We've got a lot of fun stuff coming up, I've got my new book "Bat Pussy" coming out soon, plus I'll be working on the Snob episode for Eli Roth's Thanksgiving this weekend. Laura and I also got a new house, so there will even be a new Snob room :) I'm now able to make these chats a lot more frequent too, as I love doing these.

Leave us your questions or comments below from now till 1:30pm Cental!

Happy Halloween to You. Love your content

JayRamone Was

Where do you hope to see your channel at in five years?

Bronson Wright-Wolfe

lol thanks. We did early voting a few weeks ago. Jack and I were out on a walk and we happened to be near one of the early voting buildings, so we stopped in and I got my free sticker too :)

Brad Jones

We're still moving to a new studio where I'll have my own filming room like before. I'll try to do as much as I can from there, but with Jack, it's been way easier for me to just film at home lately.

Brad Jones

Happy Halloween to you and your family. I hope you’re able to deal with the nerve racking election without incident.

Nicklas Thoft Jensen

I try to watch Halloween III: Season of the Witch at some point every year during the fall, even if I've only got it playing in the background while doing some other stuff. It's a little harder to now with Jack lol, he's not old enough for Silver Shamrock masks yet.

Brad Jones

I haven't actually. I really should at some point, especially with how much I dug the other two.

Brad Jones

Have you seen the Terrifier Prequel "At Hollows Eve"? I didn't know about this until I rewatched the first Terrifier movie.

Nathan Palmer

Last question. Do you have any must see movies for the Halloween season?

Nicklas Thoft Jensen

Congratulations on the house! Can't wait to see the new Snob room! Will you still be doing any recording at the Channel Awesome studios?

Daniel Tibbets

It depends. Those movies all were hugely influention and inspired a wave of movies to come afterwards. There are movies beforehand that fit the description of a slasher movie though, like Herchell Gordon Lewis's Blood Feast. There's also one from the 30s called Thirteen Women.

Brad Jones

I heard about this lol. I think I reviewed a movie from the same director, because I'm recalling mentioning it before. I haven't seen any clips or anything, but I'm guessing it's one of those with characters just desribing events while talking into the camera.

Brad Jones

What would you consider the originator of the slasher genre in North America. Black Christmas. Texas Chain Saw Massacre or Halloween or another title entirely?

Nicklas Thoft Jensen

It's hard to believe but someone made a direct sequel to zombi series called Zombi Vii: Urban Decay. It was released in 2021 and the production value is really cheap judging by the trailer.

Nathan Palmer

I've considered it, but it's such a huge well to go down that I don't even know where I'd begin or end lol. Also some of those are a little hard to do, because they are extremely strict with the copyrights. That's why I haven't done many Hallmark Christmas movies. The Christmas Kiss movies I had to fight copyright really hard, and the one I did for Marry X-Mas, the appeals were rejected to the point to where there were strikes involved and now way for to appeal it again. I had to take the original episode down and re-upload it into a complilation.

Brad Jones

Another Trick r Treat will be really cool to see. There's definitely a lot you can do with that by making a lot more Halloween themed shorts to put in it. One that shouldn't have a sequel is something like Don't Look Now. I don't even know what you'd do for a sequel to that lol

Brad Jones

Laura works Tuesdays through Thursdays. I used to do my writing on those days when Jack had more frequent naps. Now that he's down to just one nap a day, I do all of my work on Fridays-Mondays. Sometimes I still get a little bit done during his naps, but nothing that takes too long. I do the YouTube Shorts when he's napping.

Brad Jones

Also, would you consider doing a Lifetime true crime movie? They recently released one about an evil YouTube mommy blogger, Ruby Franke, who was convicted of aggravated child abuse against her own children back in February.

Jessica Jeffery

How do you handle childcare for little Jack? Is Laura back at work and you're a stay at home dad? I've been curious for a bit. Congratulations on the new house!

Jessica Jeffery

Which horror film would you most like to see a sequel to and conversely, what is just fine as is?

Nicklas Thoft Jensen

I'll have to talk to Shaun about that. He's been with me for almost 15 years now lol, neither of us can believe it's been that long. His art brings so much personality to the show, and I also look forward to seeing what he's going to do next. I never know what the art is going to look like until he sends it to me. There was only I couple of times I reqested a specific image, and that was the pole up the Snob's ass in the Cannibal Holocaust episode, and the Snob Caligula coin.

Brad Jones

Hi Brad. I’ve always loved the animated pictures presented with your Snob episodes. I don’t know if this is even a possibility, but have you ever considered maybe choosing your favorites and maybe publishing them in book form.

Nicklas Thoft Jensen

I have actually. I'm going to be doing a lot more 2000s horror movies. I had a really good time doing the episode the Prom Night remake that it hit me that there's a lot of movies from that time period that I haven't covered and would make great material. I'm going to start making poll choice episodes out of them. With it coming close to the end of the year, I've got a lot of seasonal obligation episodes to do, but between them I'd like to do the poll episodes.

Brad Jones

Hey Brad, have you thought about doing a video on the I Spit On Your Grave remake?

Beavis97

Totally! I remember really liking this one, I used to have it in my DVD colleciton. It's got that bleak ass ending to it too that I still remember. That's the main thing I remember about it.

Brad Jones

I came across a 70s exploitation film called "The Candy Snatchers". Since you love exploitation films, I was wondering if you were familiar with this film. I watched it on Plex.

Nathan Palmer

I'm so glad she liked it!! I love doing the Cameo videos an always hope people dig them. If I have time to, I'll do Amityville Turkey Day in November. I'm definitely going to be doing Eli Roth's Thanksgiving. I've tried finding a copy of Amitville Turkey Day that I can use to edit with, but I'm having trouble finding it.

Brad Jones

Hey Brad, will you review the next Amityville Thanksgiving movie you mentioned in the previous review? Also, thanks again for the Cameo wishing my mother a happy birthday. She really loved it.

Chris Risdal

That was a series I just couldn't get behind lol. The 2nd one I especially remember hating. I don't know if I'd have as an angry a reaction to it now, but I doubt I would suddenly like them on a rewatch.

Brad Jones

I'm not sure if you heard of this but there is talk about a third Boondocks Saints movie. This time Troy Duffy will not be returning.

Nathan Palmer

I didn't see that one. I heard it was excellent, and Laura really liked it a lot. I simply didn't have time to see it because this year I could only see one movie a week, and there was something else that weekend that was more of an obligation. Hopefully I'll see it sometime soon.

Brad Jones

I was going to do an animated show called "Post Credit Scene," that would be just short 30 seconds to a minute of a fake scene that would be after the credits of all the new movies. One of the ideas would have been like Joker having a post credit scene where his hospital cell mate was the Penguin who says "we're gonna be real pals!" or a scene in It Chapter 2 where Pennywise's outtfit gets dropped off at Gacy's house. I was even talking to some animators about it, but I didn't know there was already that similar show called "How It Should Have Ended." We decided to nix the show completely because we didn't want to seem like we were ripping them off.

Brad Jones

Okay, reading what they put had me snort with laughter.

James Moyner

Yeah, George of the Jungle is way up there. As for worst, I rememer Mr. Magoo being pretty bad, but I loved the critical quote on the box. They couldn't get a positive review so they just had a quote that simply said "Slapstic!"

Brad Jones

I can't rememer if I talked about Threads in 1984 in Film or not, but I'll have to double check. If not, I'll definitely be talking about it in 1985 in Film. I'll be starting that once I finish up 1963 in Film.

Brad Jones

I'm glad to hear that.

James Moyner

If he's still awake, we'll take him out to some houses. Our downtown are did a thing last weekend where the businesses were handing out candy, but it was during his nap time. I've been feeling good today. There's a lot of days where the fatigue will get the best of me, but that has nothing to do with Jack, if anything Jack makes me more energetic lol. The fatigue from having Long Covid hits me on some days and makes it a little hard to move around as much, but I get y on a very good vitamin regimine and also getitng out for me and Jack's walks every day.

Brad Jones

When you get around to doing 1985 in Film, I wonder if you're going to spotlight the American broadcasting of "Threads", which aired in the UK in September '84 and aired on TBS in January '85. Not only is it the British equivalent of The Day After, but it is also on record for being the most disturbing non-horror movies of all time--if not one of the most.

Coop Hayes

Of all the films from the 1990's based on cartoons and tv what is the best ones and what is the worst of them? For Best I would say George of the Jungle and Addams Family Values For Worst I would say Leave it to Beaver which I remember being shown on Disney Channel in the late 90's early 2000's. That is the only bad one I have seen. I never say Flintstones Beverly Hillbillies, Lost in Space or others like that

James Moyner

Saturday Night Fever. I've got it on a lot of different formats, and it's one of my favorite movies on top of that. Hell, I even like the soundtrack to Staying Alive as well lol.

Brad Jones

Has there been a show or movie idea you've had where it seemed good on paper and got as far as filming before realizing it wasn't going to work? Something in the vein of "Pop Quiz, Hotshots" or "Melvin, Brother of the Joker"?

JD

Have you seen the 2024 film Abigail? I have seen movie reactors on YouTube watching it and I'm surprised you didn't review it.

Nathan Palmer

I'll have to look into that one. A lot of times they do such a great job at covering obscure movies like that that I don't know what else I could add to it if I reviewed it as well.

Brad Jones

Underrated I always think of Messiah of Evil off the top of my head. There's a lot of movies that I loved but a lot of people didn't. Heartbeeps is one I think is way more clever than it gets credit for. As for stuff that's universally pretty well loved but I didn't get into, I wasn't a Thor Ragnarok fan.

Brad Jones

That's awesome no worries I get it. Just know I love all your successes and I wish so much more!

Amiel Atabaki

Jack's doing awesome! He's having his nap now :) He's gotten to where he just does one long nap a day instead of a few small ones. I don't really want to put him in videos, but I do post pictures over on our Instagram and Facebook. I did get some video of him having his broccoli for the first time, which to our surprise, he loved lol.

Brad Jones

That would be a really fun one to do, especially with all the backstory on it and its ties to Mad Magazine. I talk about it a little bit in one of the 80s in Film episodes. I was very sad to hear about Teri Garr! She was so wonderful. Mr. Mom is one of my favorite comfort movies, I probably watch it about once a year.

Brad Jones

The French film Devil Story was just covered by RedLetterMedia, and they said it’s one of their favorite things they’ve ever reviewed. Can we hope for a Snob review? Would love to see that take! Or does this mean there’s less of a chance of that happening?

Josh P.

What is your favorite movie soundtrack?

SpoonBending Spacemonkey

It's my first time hearing about this one, but since I reviewed those other two, I'll definitely see this one! I really dug Freaky, but didn't like It's a Wonderful Knife at all, so we'll see how this goes lol.

Brad Jones

How are you feeling today and is Jack going to go trick or treating?

James Moyner

Are you going to see the new time travel film from the people who made Freaky and It's a Wonderful Knife called Time Cut?

James Moyner

This year there's been tons. I probably won't be able to do a best/worst at the end of the year because there's too much that I haven't seen. I could really only pick one movie a week to go see this year, so there's a lot of hit movies that I missed, like Inside Out 2 off the top of my head. At the start of the new year though, I'm going to try to get back to seeing as much as I can, I'll just have to rework my writing and editing schedule a little bit.

Brad Jones

For a future Snob review, can you do the movie Up The Academy? Also, have you heard that Teri Garr died?

FunnyMusicMan

How is Jack doing? Does he have any reviews out yet. Could we maybe baby food reviews and see his face happy? Hopefully?

Amiel Atabaki

What is your single most underrated and overrated movies ?

EMParker

Has there been a movie this year that came to theaters you missed for one reason or another? I know you try and see everything, but sometimes stuff happens.
