MiniBonus #34 - The Originals, The Danny Bonaduce & Sarah Morning Show

This week we're talking about Ric Ocasek's widow who was surprised that her husband left her NOTHING in his will. Oops, sucks to be you. Well, not really, apparently she fought it and somehow is going to end up with millions of dollars. (Sad trombone)

Then we check out Danny Bonaduce's most recent stint on morning radio. It's... not good.

what is this the dick show? hey lets play the intro 10 minutes in and start the show half way through a conversation

Nexgrato

Hey, Karl popped into your comment thread. Did you take the opportunity to be funny, maybe pay back some of the laughs? Nope. Just gave a vanilla defense of an argument no one is having, even me. I'm the anti-opportunist

Principled Uncertainty

They did. All of them of the highest quality and instantly memorable.

Principled Uncertainty

They had like 30 hit songs lol

Hey, Karl. I noticed you no longer do the occasional cold open on WATP proper. It doesn't bother me, it just sprang to mind while I was taking a shit. They're endearing.

Howard Crane

I was around in the 80s. I'm not saying they're a bad band, but I'd rather not hear any more from them. You heard their shit more than crickets and the wind in the late 80s.

Karl you stupid boomer don't you ever talk shit about the fillet o fish again

I knew as soon as I typed "one" it would come back to bite me. Hear me out. From an Irish/UK perspective, they have had two hits. Top and tailed by My best friend's girl and of course Drive, the song I was alluding to. Drive is one of the worst songs of the eighties, which I suspect you agree with, but their back catalogue is nothing special, IMO. They were a competent post punk band that I wouldn't resent paying £10 to see at a local venue. Don't worry, all of my musician friends disagree with me too.

Principled Uncertainty

Their ONE famous song?? Okay, I'll bite, which song do you think is their ONE famous song?

Karl from WATP

It was a big deal because their sound changed pop and was played so much on radio when they came out. The look was different too, but otherwise, I agree.

Jackzim

The Cars have to be the most overrated band of all time. Their one famous song is a sickly dirge. That has little to do with the episode. but it needs restating at every possible opportunity.

Principled Uncertainty

Goddamit Karl, you gotta put Drew and Mike in the description so I know to skip it.
